Y'all, I am growing increasingly alarmed.

Way back in the day when Joss first announced he was doing a new show, I started a countdown to Jonathan M. Woodward's appearance. I love that guy. Holden, Knox, Tracey, his part in Wit--LOVE. HIM.

And Joss does, too, clearly. (He also loves killing him off, but that's a whole 'nother issue.) So I just assumed that of course he would be on Dollhouse.

BUT WE HAVE TWO EPISODES LEFT AND HE HAS YET TO MAKE AN APPEARANCE AND WHAT IF HE DOOOOESN'T.

I will be crushed.

Joss Whedon, you disappoint me.

* For anyone who's even slightly Buffy-inclined, may I rec a new fic? Please go here and check out "Imitation of a Man." The first two installments are already posted, and y'all, they are good. Great style, good characterization, and what promises to be an intriguing premise. Basically, it's one of those good, old-fashioned plotty epics (I believe) that we just don't see much of anymore. Also, the second installment has a fresh twist on a very, very popular Spuffy trope. I think you'll enjoy!

Also, I know a bunch of you have a policy against reading WIP, but this is not, in fact, a WIP. It's all already written, but will be posted one installment at a time over the next month or so. So no need to worry that it won't ever be finished!

* The absolutely worst thing about not having a TV yet is that even though I'm actually going to be home tonight, I won't be able to watch the new episode of Dollhouse! Yes, I will be staying up tonight until I can download it. Yes, I will.

Taking a moment while I have internet to post this. It is, in fact, my Yuletide Entry! I've also put it up here at AO3.

Title: Of Ill-Advised Imprints and Rather Fetching Ewok Queens
Fandom: Dollhouse
Written for: [livejournal.com profile] rodlox for Yuletide 2009.
Characters/Pairings: Topher Brink, Sierra, Victor, Ivy, Boyd Langton, Adelle DeWitt, Claire Saunders
Rating: PG
Genre: Humor, Gen
Timeline: Set shortly after the pilot episode.
Disclaimer: None of it (from either fandom) is mine. Well, Sir Percival might be....
A/N: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] snickfic for invaluable insight into Topher's voice and for her sympathy for poor, long-suffering Ivy; to [livejournal.com profile] angearia for being, as usual, totally and completely awesome and providing some truly awesome lines and even better insight, and for her boundless enthusiasm; and to the evil genius that is [livejournal.com profile] madcap_shiny for the title. Thank you, ladies!
Inspired by: For those of you who aren't in the know, the idea for this fic came from an interview with Dichen Lachman. You can check it out here.
Summary: Who decided giving Topher Brink the ability to design people's personalities was a good idea again?

Yuletide = panic. I just don't know about this, y'all. I just don't know.

Meeting up with high school friends (including childhood BFF who I haven't seen in like three years and who just got engaged to a guy I've never met and who I suspect is a completely different person now and I will have nothing in common with) = weird. We'll see.

Trying to get all of my fic into the AO3 = TEDIOUS. Why do I use so many italics? Why oh why oh why?

BFF having gone back to her hometown for Christmas = SUUUUUCK.

Most of the people I know (most of my friends are either still students or have become teachers) getting like a month off for break while I get two days = SUUUUCK X 1000.

Trying to get all of my life together and be an adult so that I can move out of the house = SCARY AS HELL. AS HELL. ASK DEAN WINCHESTER. AND ANGEL. THEY KNOW. HELL IS SCARY YO.

Not having gotten presents yet = not that bad, surprisingly. I don't give to many people. I just gift with my time.

Meeting up with future roommate to chat = kinda fun, even though I spent the whole time wondering what her reaction will be when she figures out how big of a geek I am.

Spending lots of time at work on the TV Tropes Wiki = WIN.

Me failing at lj by not replying to seven zillion comments = typical. But still made of fail.

Dollhouse = conflicted. Again.

But!

ENVER = LOOOOOVE. Also Topher = getting more awesome and lovable with each subsequent episode.

Yeah. That's about all the math I know.

Ah!

...my plan for making Dollhouse awesome (inspired by [livejournal.com profile] anythingbutgrey):

Topher's been totally freaked out about what's going on at Rossum, and when he finds out that they're using his device, he decides to take off, so that they can't force him to come up with anything else for them to misuse. As an attempt to make amends, he decides to restore Priya and help her bust out, too. Except that, of course, she won't go anywhere without Victor, so Topher has to restore him, too. Once out, our two Actives with their memories back decide the thing to do is try to take the dollhouses down, and they enlist a reluctant Topher (who has brought the chair along with him) to help.

So the rest of the show is Priya and Real!Victor (NAME, JOSS) getting imprinted with various skills to plan a takedown of Rossum. Topher keeps threatening to leave and having moral crises, Priya's dealing with the whole Nolen thing (ANGST ALERT), and Real!Victor's dealing with whatever baggage he brought along with him (I assume it's a lot. This is Joss, after all. I have two main theories, and hopefully they'll be confirmed or proven wrong soon. VICTOR-CENTRIC EPISODE NOW, PLEASE, JOSS).

Meanwhile, they form a tentative alliance with FBI agents played by Mark A. Shepperd and Jonathan Woodward (WHERE IS HE, JOSS? You know I've been waiting since you said you were working on a new show!) and the lady who played Loomis in S1. And they're all trying to catch Alpha, which means many guest-starring-s by Alan Tudyk. And Claire/Whiskey comes back and we get lots of intense scenes between her and Topher. And Bennett! Sometimes there's Bennett! Maybe she and Alpha team up or something! And maybe Boyd can show up now and then if he promises to be cool again and not boring. And if Adelle ever decides to start acting like Adelle again, she can come back, too.

And SMG should guest star. Often.

y/y?

And they are conflicted.

here be spoilers )

* Does anybody have a link to next week's promos? Pretty, pretty please?

* Also! I saw Invictus last night! For free! With my friend from South Africa! Which was super useful as she could explain things to me! And did! And have I ever mentioned my fondness for rugby? I hate sports in general, but I looove rugby, though I do not follow it and know little about it. And I may have flailed with joy when the All-Blacks in the movie did their war dance/cheer thing, even if I have major cultural appropriation objections to it and then I felt guilty. But the movie was good! And apparently the accents were "impeccable," says said friend. And Morgan Freeman did a scary-good Nelson Mandela imitation. And Matt Damon's so likable! And the supporting characters were excellently drawn--most of them security personnel, and they were fab. And Martha Jones' mama was in it! AND RUGBY.

* AND A TRAILER. GARY OLDMAN AND MILA KUNIS (!) IN A POST-APOCALYPTIC MOVIE! BLOWING THINGS UP! YES PLEASE! I mean, I like Denzel Washington a ton, but he's not usually enough to get me really worked up about a movie on his own. The rest of the cast, though? YES PLEASE.

* My parents and I sat down and made a budget for me today, as I will shortly be moving out on my own (more on this anon). It was rather hellish, and the conclusion I arrived at is that life is stupid.

* I think I've finally gotten all my notifications? So I can catch up on replies soon? Hopefully? Be on the lookout for them!

Also, I forgot to include in my rambling earlier Dollhouse post that I was greatly pleased to see Maurissa in the actual episode. She's a cutie and deserves some love!

And now, goodnight. More drabbles tomorrow!

[ETA] Also, lj is being exceptionally stupid in multiple ways right now. *kicks it*
