For Day Two of my celebration of the Summers sisters, I have graphics! Or, at least I tried to make graphics. I'm still stumbling through learning how to do that. (And [livejournal.com profile] ladyofthelog, your tutorial was way helpful!) But I tried!

Yay! The lady celebration has begun! And of course I'm celebrating my Summers girls, because they are the actual best.

I'll be mostly focusing on the last three seasons of the show (with possibly some cameos by the comics and maybe even some pre-series stuff) because A) that's when Dawn's actually around, and B) that's when most people most hate Buffy. Oh, and there's the added bonus of the later seasons being my favorite. So it all works out well.

Today's offering: a fic. A Christmas-fic, to be precise. Which I wrote kind of all in one sitting? And it hasn't been betaed, so you'll forgive me if it's a bit rough in spots.

Also, I literally didn't figure out that posting started today until...a few hours ago, so...this is not my best work. Just fyi.

Title: help to make the season bright
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Characters: Buffy, Dawn
Spoilers: Through S7, "Bring On the Night"
Rating: PG, if that
Warning: pure, undiluted sappiness
Summary: “Christmas won’t be Christmas without any presents"

lirazel: An outdoor scene from the film Picnic at Hanging Rock ([btvs] bloody revelation)
So after weeks of stressing; working on and then rejecting not one, not two, but three separate stories; whipping this up out of thin air yesterday; and then getting it whipped into shape by betas who clearly know way more about what they're doing than I do, I have posted my [livejournal.com profile] seasonal_spuffy entry.

Whew!

Title: Basiare
Written for: [livejournal.com profile] seasonal_spuffy
Rating: PG
Timeperiod: post-“Not Fade Away”
Warning: some Buffy/Other
Thanks to: My betas: [livejournal.com profile] angearia for perspective, encouragement, and some of the best bits of dialogue; and [livejournal.com profile] snickfic for squee, snark, clarity, and saying, “Um, I think this needs a shape. You know, an actual arc.” Y’all constantly save me from myself. Thanks as well to [livejournal.com profile] quinara for Latin-y type help with the title.
A/N: This is a prequel to Infinitas Infinitio Infinitus. It’s not necessary that you read that fic, though you might enjoy it after you’ve finished this one. :D
Summary: “She didn’t kiss him hello, and she doesn’t kiss him goodbye.” This is Buffy and this is Spike and they’ve never done anything the easy way.

Let's do this thing!

THE THREESentenceFIC-A-THON

In this challenge, you write a fic consisting of only three sentences in response to a prompt. All fandoms/characters/ships are welcome, and you can leave as many prompts and write as many fic as you like. Please leave only one prompt per comment, though there can be multiple fic "answers" to each prompt.

Format:

Fandom, character/pairing, prompt word/sentence

Please go here for more in-depth instructions, examples, and to ask any questions or voice any concerns you may have.

Pimp far and wide, please! The more participants, the more fic! And if someone wants to whip up a banner or something, that would be great!

Go forth and fic!

So. Probably tonight, possibly tomorrow, I’m going to start the Three Sentence Fic-a-Thon here. For those of you who haven’t ever participated in one, you should take a look over here to see how it works.

It’s fairly straightforward: someone posts a prompt [Fandom – Pairing/Character – Prompt format] of any kind, and if you’re interested, you write a tiny story in three sentences in reply. You can post as many prompts as you wish and answer as many as strike your fancy. But remember: only three sentences! Run-ons are acceptable, but try to keep in mind that you are not William Faulkner and clarity is key! Also, creative use of punctuation is encouraged (I’m more than mildly obsessed with punctuation, so this is like a dream come true for me).

For those of you who don’t write much (or at all), this is a great way to stick your toes in the water—no commitment, really; the limits aren’t as strict as that of drabbles; and it’s fun! Really, it’s ideal for people without a lot of writing experience, and I really encourage you to put your trepidation aside and give it a try. You’ll like it!

Any fandom/any pairing/any character. Be creative! If you haven’t figured it out by now, I am not a one-fandom girl. So if you’re mostly here for the Buffy (as many of you are), but you’ve always had an abiding love of Lord of the Rings: post a prompt! Odds are someone else loves that fandom, too! (And yes, [livejournal.com profile] redsilverchains, I will write you Tony/Michelle.)

I’m hopefully going to post one of those little scrolly boxes that let you paste html code so that you can copy/paste it into your journals (if I can figure out how to do that. Guidance, anyone?). Please, please pimp it out. These things only work if there’s quite a bit of participation. I know a few of you run communities—if you want, you can pimp it there, too. Whatever works!

It will go on until interest fizzles out; the last one lasted for nearly two months. So if you can’t participate this weekend, show up next week sometime! If things go as I hope, it’ll still be going on.

This is the first time I’ve hosted something like this, so I’m both nervous and excited. We’ll see how it goes!

If you think you might be interested in joining in, drop me a line in the comments, just so I can get a feel for it. This isn't a commitment, just an indication of interest.

Yay!

Taking a moment while I have internet to post this. It is, in fact, my Yuletide Entry! I've also put it up here at AO3.

Title: Of Ill-Advised Imprints and Rather Fetching Ewok Queens
Fandom: Dollhouse
Written for: [livejournal.com profile] rodlox for Yuletide 2009.
Characters/Pairings: Topher Brink, Sierra, Victor, Ivy, Boyd Langton, Adelle DeWitt, Claire Saunders
Rating: PG
Genre: Humor, Gen
Timeline: Set shortly after the pilot episode.
Disclaimer: None of it (from either fandom) is mine. Well, Sir Percival might be....
A/N: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] snickfic for invaluable insight into Topher's voice and for her sympathy for poor, long-suffering Ivy; to [livejournal.com profile] angearia for being, as usual, totally and completely awesome and providing some truly awesome lines and even better insight, and for her boundless enthusiasm; and to the evil genius that is [livejournal.com profile] madcap_shiny for the title. Thank you, ladies!
Inspired by: For those of you who aren't in the know, the idea for this fic came from an interview with Dichen Lachman. You can check it out here.
Summary: Who decided giving Topher Brink the ability to design people's personalities was a good idea again?
