So Buffy fandom sucks right now. Not us, obviously, but everyone else. ;D

I know that all the drama is sucking the fannish happiness right out of some people, and that breaks my heart. I also know that it's creating a sort of vortex of negativity that threatens to devour us all.

So what I want to do--what I've been wanting to do for the last few weeks--is for all of us to take a few moments to remember things that we love. Straight-up love. Purely, perfectly, whole-heartedly. Characters, scenes, episodes, lines that we have zero complaints about because they are perfect to us. They set us flailing or sighing or crying or smiling. They bring us joy.

So I'm going to start. I'm going to list ten Things I Love that immediately come into my mind, knowing that that I'm leaving a thousand things off of this list. Read them. Take a few minutes, think of your own, make a list here in the comments of as many or as few Things You Love as you like. Read other people's thoughts and remember other Things You Love. Then pimp this out as much as you like. Send people over here to contribute to the collection so that we can create a sort of scrapbook of Things That We Absolutely Love. If you think of more Things You Love, add them to the list. Keep going as long as you want. Revel in the Love.

This is a thread of happiness. No attacking anyone else's squee. If you disagree, just ignore it. Also, if you want to list Angel things--like how awesome Lilah is or the scene where Angel and Connor sing the Jasmine song--go right ahead! Angel fandom's getting hit pretty hard right now, too.

Here are the first ten Things I Love that pop into my head:

1. Spike and Dawn arguing about who is badder in Blood Ties
2. The perfectly in-character Scooby-thoughts that Buffy hears in Earshot: Cordy thinks it and says it, Oz has an existential crisis, Willow is insecure, Xander thinks about sex
3. Buffy and Spike on the back porch in Fool for Love. THEY. SIGH. IN. SYNC.
4. Spike and Joyce in the living room in Becoming: Part II--"Have we met?"
5. The Class Protector Award in The Prom
6. Anya's speech in The Body (And in End of Days. And in Hell's Bells. QUIT MAKING ME CRY, ANYA.)
7. The rocket launcher scuffle behind Robin Wood in Him
8. Restless. All of it. (But especially Riley the Big Dumb Cowboy.)
9. The last half of Tabula Rasa, and the switch from hilarity to beautiful angst in the space of a few moments.
10. The sad, heartbroken montage at the end of Lovers Walk...that becomes Spike barreling down the road singing "My Way" on the top of his lungs

Got the idea? Now. GO!

Let's do this thing!

THE THREESentenceFIC-A-THON

In this challenge, you write a fic consisting of only three sentences in response to a prompt. All fandoms/characters/ships are welcome, and you can leave as many prompts and write as many fic as you like. Please leave only one prompt per comment, though there can be multiple fic "answers" to each prompt.

Format:

Fandom, character/pairing, prompt word/sentence

Please go here for more in-depth instructions, examples, and to ask any questions or voice any concerns you may have.

Pimp far and wide, please! The more participants, the more fic! And if someone wants to whip up a banner or something, that would be great!

Go forth and fic!

So. Probably tonight, possibly tomorrow, I’m going to start the Three Sentence Fic-a-Thon here. For those of you who haven’t ever participated in one, you should take a look over here to see how it works.

It’s fairly straightforward: someone posts a prompt [Fandom – Pairing/Character – Prompt format] of any kind, and if you’re interested, you write a tiny story in three sentences in reply. You can post as many prompts as you wish and answer as many as strike your fancy. But remember: only three sentences! Run-ons are acceptable, but try to keep in mind that you are not William Faulkner and clarity is key! Also, creative use of punctuation is encouraged (I’m more than mildly obsessed with punctuation, so this is like a dream come true for me).

For those of you who don’t write much (or at all), this is a great way to stick your toes in the water—no commitment, really; the limits aren’t as strict as that of drabbles; and it’s fun! Really, it’s ideal for people without a lot of writing experience, and I really encourage you to put your trepidation aside and give it a try. You’ll like it!

Any fandom/any pairing/any character. Be creative! If you haven’t figured it out by now, I am not a one-fandom girl. So if you’re mostly here for the Buffy (as many of you are), but you’ve always had an abiding love of Lord of the Rings: post a prompt! Odds are someone else loves that fandom, too! (And yes, [livejournal.com profile] redsilverchains, I will write you Tony/Michelle.)

I’m hopefully going to post one of those little scrolly boxes that let you paste html code so that you can copy/paste it into your journals (if I can figure out how to do that. Guidance, anyone?). Please, please pimp it out. These things only work if there’s quite a bit of participation. I know a few of you run communities—if you want, you can pimp it there, too. Whatever works!

It will go on until interest fizzles out; the last one lasted for nearly two months. So if you can’t participate this weekend, show up next week sometime! If things go as I hope, it’ll still be going on.

This is the first time I’ve hosted something like this, so I’m both nervous and excited. We’ll see how it goes!

If you think you might be interested in joining in, drop me a line in the comments, just so I can get a feel for it. This isn't a commitment, just an indication of interest.

Yay!
