Fic: Basiare

So after weeks of stressing; working on and then rejecting not one, not two, but three separate stories; whipping this up out of thin air yesterday; and then getting it whipped into shape by betas who clearly know way more about what they're doing than I do, I have posted my [livejournal.com profile] seasonal_spuffy entry.

Whew!

Title: Basiare
Written for: [livejournal.com profile] seasonal_spuffy
Rating: PG
Timeperiod: post-“Not Fade Away”
Warning: some Buffy/Other
Thanks to: My betas: [livejournal.com profile] angearia for perspective, encouragement, and some of the best bits of dialogue; and [livejournal.com profile] snickfic for squee, snark, clarity, and saying, “Um, I think this needs a shape. You know, an actual arc.” Y’all constantly save me from myself. Thanks as well to [livejournal.com profile] quinara for Latin-y type help with the title.
A/N: This is a prequel to Infinitas Infinitio Infinitus. It’s not necessary that you read that fic, though you might enjoy it after you’ve finished this one. :D
Summary: “She didn’t kiss him hello, and she doesn’t kiss him goodbye.” This is Buffy and this is Spike and they’ve never done anything the easy way.

Right. So. haven't even read it yet but I swear to god I read the the author's note and I squeed. right out loud. Cause I don't know if you remember or not but personally I have a big huge crush on III and I asked you all about what happened before it and there was a nice commenty thing. And so you posted for suggestions about seasonal spuffy and i'm like, dude, she should write that prequel. but did I post it? uh no.

BUT YOU DID IT ANYWAY AND I LOVE YOU FOR IT.
sorry. sorry. i'm done now. sorry.

This is probably the most adorable comment I've ever gotten. I'm so glad you're excited, and I hope the story lives up to your expectations!

So, the beta wants to know: What does the title mean? It sounds all French and looks like "brassiere," but I suspect means something different...

(I came up with a title this morning - "Things Said with Kisses" - but then forgot to email you with it. Oh, well. *g*)

and looks like "brassiere,"

Oh, how awful! *chortles*

It's Latin for "to kiss." I thought it would be a good tie between III and its Latin title and having a Latin one here as well. Besides, nothing I was coming up with in English sounded anything less than corny.

(Aw! Too bad! Thanks for thinking of it anyway!)

Thank you for this wonderful piece of Buffy'n'Spike insight. :)

Also the sequel: exquisite!

Your writing style very much achieves to grab me from the beginning and leave me wanting for more. (Pretty please?)

Just read your story. Words fail me. How do you get into my head and write in the EXACT voice that I hear when I think about Buffy and Spike and their relationship? As I was reading it, my chest was tight and I know, it is just a story and I should not get so involved, but, seriously, you slay me every time you write something. Please, please, please, tell me when your first novel will be published. God, I do not mean to sound like such a suck up, but the written word has always had the power to fill me up with such powerful emotions, when it is done properly, and you have the gift, really you do. So..... THANK YOU AGAIN for brightening my day. Thank the Lord my husband is not here to see me weeping over the laptop!
