+ I felt like this week's Parks and Rec was a bit of a letdown. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't the level of typical delight this show gives me. Plus, spoilers )

+ I watched Delightful[/Sassy] Girl Choon-Hyang and it was one of those cases where I stayed for the OTP because they were delightful (heh), but the plot was just whatever. spoilers )

+ Next up: Capital Scandal and probably City Hunter after that. And at some point I actually need to finish The X-files. And watch Breaking Bad and Justified. SO MUCH TV, Y'ALL.

Stop what you are doing right this minute and go and read this fic. IT IS THE FIC I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR. Remember that graphic that popped up on tumblr with the Parks and Rec AU where Leslie is the president and Ben is her Secret Service agent? And remember how I tagged it begging the universe to provide me with fic? THE UNIVERSE HAS COME THROUGH. THERE IS NOW PRESIDENTAL!CANDIDATE!LESLIE/SECRET!SERVICE!AGENT!BEN FIC. GO READ IIIIIIIT. NOW.

My Seasonal Spuffy day is so soon and I'd totally forgotten about it, what with being sick and all. I feel like I should probably be panicked or something, but since I usually end up writing mine the night before anyway, I'm kind of just terribly amused with myself because I always do this.

I should get on that, though. At least this is total and complete id!fic so I don't have to take it as seriously as I sometimes do. (Lies. I never take this seriously. But sometimes I at least pretend to and this time I'm not even going there.)

A few brief things that are about TV because we all know that my life is pretty much all about television:

+ downton abbey spoilers for last night )

+ Lil Sis (who's in Costa Rica for the semester, did I mention that? I miss her soooooooo) and I were Skypeing the other night and she's managed to keep up with Vampire Diaries since she's been gone and her main thoughts at this point are: WHERE IS BONNIE? THIS IS NOT COOL. BRING HER BAAAACK. Sometimes she has the best taste. Clearly, those are my main thoughts, too. Also, we both saw the reveal at the end of the last episode coming. Still, nice bit of casting there (HELLO HRG! I HAVE MISSED YOU!).

+ Parks and Rec continues to be beyond flawless, so much so that I can't even put it into words and I won't even try except to say that if you still aren't watching this show, you are missing out on by far the most delightful show on television. Also, it is officially official: Ben Wyatt is the perfect man and if he were real I would marry him in two seconds flat.

+ The last two Doctor Who episodes have made me deliriously happy. I have ALL THE FEELINGS about "The God Complex" in particular, but I won't even try to put them into words. I'm sure [livejournal.com profile] elisi's done a better job anyway, I just haven't gotten around to reading her thoughts yet. WELL DONE, SHOW. Also, I would like to request an entire show about Eleven hanging out with babies and children because it is the actual BEST.

+ I would not still be watching Ringer if it weren't for Smidge's flawless face. I just have so much affection for her that whenever she's onscreen I just want to burst with happiness. I hope the writing improves--I thought the second episode was better than the pilot, so hopefully it'll keep with that. But mostly I'm just annoyed that all of these people are so very terrible. And not in a fun Fanged Four/half the characters on Game of Thrones/The Operative kind of way. But in a straight-up "you are unpleasant to be around please go away" sort of way. I guess if you're gonna be terrible, I at least want you to have a little bit of glee in your terribleness? When people are terrible and also just sort of bland, I have no interest.

+ I kind of felt like Community was a little weird? Maybe it was because I watched it on the TV and apparently I don't need to do that anymore. BUT. The Abed stuff was so incredibly, incredibly perfect that I'm going to rewatch the episode soon.

+ I'm glad Modern Family is back, even if I feel it's a bit overrated? Like, I'm a bit bitter about it taking over its categories at the Emmys, even though I try not to let myself have feelings about the Emmys because they always fail (except when they're giving awards to Kyle Chandler/Downton Abbey/Margo Martindale. Then they win). However, I will never, ever say no to Phil Dunphy on my screen (I do think he absolutely deserved his award) and also Claire and Dylan interacting is my favorite thing, so.

+ Is that all I'm watching right now? Except for having a massive Friday Night Lights rewatch? I'll probably post about that at some point.

+ OH! If anybody has a link to the Misfits mini episode thingie about what happens to Nathan, can you please link me? I'd appreciate it greatly!

+ I seriously just DO. NOT. UNDERSTAND. how Parks and Recreation can be so consistently wonderful and glorious and beautiful and sweet and joyous and delightful and happy. And I don't post reactions to it, because I would literally be repeating back every line or facial expression (I want to be BFFs with Aziz, y'all. He can go everywhere with me and make his big :O face because it brings me such delight). Because all of it is flawless. I watched this last episode with my hands clasped under my chin and a huge grin on my face--just like I watch every episode. HOW SO WONDERFUL? I DO NOT UNDERSTAND.

The only thing I will actually say about it (because if I get started, I won't ever stop) is that just when I didn't think I could love Ben Wyatt: Human Disaster (and yes, that is how I refer to him in my mind) more, HE TOLD TOM THAT HE WASN'T REALLY A FAN OF PETER JACKSON'S INTERPRETATION OF LORD OF THE RINGS. ME NEITHER, BEN! Visually, it's absolutely perfect, and I enjoyed all of the movies, and there were some characters who were beyond perfectly cast, but Jackson doesn't really get the influences--mostly Northern European epics and elegaic poetry--and it showed. And don't get me started on what he did to Faramir. Shutting up now.

+ vampire diaries spoilers )

+ I have yet to see Community. Honestly, if it weren't for my mad love for Troy, I might have given up by now? This season is a major slump, especially compared to how much I enjoyed the first season. I keep hoping they'll recover. And true, there are moments of brilliance (YOU CAN'T DISAPPOINT A PICTURE!!!!), but this season is missing some of the luster. It makes me sadface.

Oh, haaaaaaiiiiii. It’s one of those posts where I talk about how much I fail at eljay. Which is a lot. So let’s skip that part and get right to me asking how y’all are. Everything okay? Anything awesome/important that I’ve missed? What is going on with you?

Here’s what is going on with me.

Top TenFifteen Things That Are Awesome at the Moment
1. Ramin Karimloo’s existence. Yes, this really does need to be number one.
2. My family continues to be amazing. I feel like I should not be this big of a fan of my own family, but I am. Whatever. We’re awesome.
3. Working on my book! Going to the library, not hooking up to the internet, actually working. And I have decided that I will KEEP ON WRITING even when (inevitably) I hit the point when I realize that the book is stupid and worthless and no one would ever, ever want to read it. I mean, this is just the beginning, and who knows how long I can keep this up, but hopefully I’ll develop some will power? Hopefully?
4. SPRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING. THERE ARE FLOWERS. IT IS WARM. I AM SO HAPPY. It’s kind of sad how much influence the weather has on my mood. I was sitting in the library on the second floor looking out the big windows and the grass was so green I thought I was going to cry.
5. Grace/Rich OTP and their flawless, flawless scenes
6. Rereading A Song of Ice and Fire. I had forgotten how easy it is to fly through these books. SUPER READABLE.
7. DOCTOR WHO SOON SOON SOON
8. Parks and Rec continues to be flawless and the happiest show on television with beautiful OTP times and Ron Swanson being excellent and Amy Poehler being my hero and lots more people starting to watch it. If you aren’t watching this show, I have nothing to say to you. I feel towards you the way the entirety of Pawnee feels about people who don’t appreciate Lil Sebastian (speaking of which, I want a t-shirt. I don’t even wear t-shirts, but I would wear that one).
9. Freya Mavor’s face. How is she possible? I don’t understand. I still think that if they insist on casting a blonde girl for the new Buffy reboot (instead of going with my race!swap idea), they should cast her, regardless of the fact that she is British. I think she’s the only person at this point that I would forgive for not being SMG.
10. Persephone Magazine changing their layout so that I can ACTUALLY READ IT. This website is what Jezebel wishes it were. Except better.
11. Watching The X-Files for the first time and the mytharc actually showing up. I love worldbuilding!
12. I’m going to In the Heights this weekend! Yay! I don’t know any of the music, but I’m super excited, because I hear excellent things.
13. Riding in my truck with the windows down and singing Marina and the Diamonds songs on the top of my lungs
14. My family made beignets on Sunday. NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM.
15. The Being Human finale. This would be higher up the list except that it was a couple of weeks ago now. But still. Well played, Toby Whithouse. Well played.

Top TenNine Things That Suck at the Moment
1. The world is actually a mess. I can’t even address it—I get too overwhelmed. But I keep hearing Yeats in my head: “For the world’s more full of weeping than you can understand.”
2. Steve Moffat’s ridiculous sexism coming through in an actual episode. HAHAHA ELEVEN TELLING AMY TO PUT ON TROUSERS. Except that’s not funny at all, Moff. Don’t do this to me. Seriously—don’t.
3. My boss is ridiculous *eyeroll*
4. Allergies impending. I feel them coming on. The one downside of spring arriving.
5. I actually do fail at lj. I just get overwhelmed by thinking about catching up with my flist, and it’s easier to avoid. I apologize for being a very bad friend.
6. No idea what I’ll be writing for [livejournal.com profile] seasonal_spuffy. Haven’t been in a BtVS frame of mind for a while.
7. Community continues to fail at race so hard that it ruins episodes that HAVE MY FUTURE HUSBAND AS A GUEST STAR. Seriously, Dan Harmon. We need to have a word.
8. Gas is ridiculously expensive. *sigh*
9. I am not married to Ramin Karimloo.

Also, I need to tell you a story about how awesome my mama is. cut for length )
