+ Lots of nerds
+ Lore
+ Hyperfixation on (a) particular text(s)
+ Fanwanking. Just so much fanwanking.
+ In theory: many interpretations are valid
+ In practice: lots of arguing
+ The arguing is sometimes constructive and exciting and other times...not
+ People love to tell each other that the other person's interpretation is wrong
+ Obsessed with hypotheticals
+ Like to explore missing scenes and flesh out minor characters aka midrash
+ Gatekeeping aka "You're not a real Jew/fan!"
+ Special language outsiders don't understand and holidays outsiders don't keep
+ A minority group scattered around the world
Please contribute more!
Honestly it's hilarious that many of the same things that draw me to fandom have drawn me to Judaism. The overlap in the Venn diagram is significant!
