lirazel: An outdoor scene from the film Picnic at Hanging Rock ([pg] at last a dragon)
Gakked from [livejournal.com profile] aisalynn .  And everybody else in the history of lj

Name your 10 absolutely favorite couples (het/slash/canon/fanon) and ask people to see what trends they notice about your couples. Try to pick different fandoms.

Couple of things first:
+  I'm sticking to TV shows.  Plus Harry Potter.  Because if I open this up to, like, books or movies or something?  It'll never end.
+  My definition of shipping for the benefit of [livejournal.com profile] slaymesoftly (seriously, I love that you got me thinking about this):  couples whose dynamic I enjoy.  I always perk up when they're onscreen together, knowing something interesting will be revealed about one or both through interaction with the other.  Plus a romantic bent (because I have that reaction with, say, Spike and Dawn or Kendall and Cassidy, but there's nothing sexual going on in my mind, you know?).
+  These aren't necessarily in order.  Just in the order they popped into my head (which may tell you something, I don't know.)

1.  Spike/Buffy (Buffyverse)
2.  Veronica/Logan (Veronica Mars)
3.  Ron/Hermione (Harry Potter)
4.  Coach/Mrs. Coach (Friday Night Lights)
5.  Lynda/Spike (Press Gang)
6.  Jackie/Hyde (That 70s Show)  [btw, I will never forgive the showrunners for pairing her with Fez at the end.  These two need each other.  Like really, really need each other in ways I can't even describe.]
7.  Mal/Inara (Firefly)
8.  The Fighting Agathons (Battlestar Galactica)
9.  Blair/Chuck (Gossip Girl)
10.  Victor/Sierra (Dollhouse)  [I'm loving them at the moment.  Who knows whether they'll have staying power?]

And I've only just started watching Farscape, but I have a strong feeling that I'm going to be shipping the hell out of John/Aeryn very, very shortly.

Honorable mentions go to: Spike/Angel (I don't usually view them in a romantic/sexual way, though that's okay sometimes, but I just adoreadoreadore any time they're interacting.  There are no words);  the Doctor/Humanity (ha!); Adam/Elle (my one major fanon pairing); Mac/Cassidy; Rory/Jess; Wash/Zoe.

The thing I've noticed?  ANGST.  I LIKES IT.  (Also, happily married couples.)

lirazel: An outdoor scene from the film Picnic at Hanging Rock ([btvs] coal bin)
[livejournal.com profile] slaymesoftly  got me to thinking in this post (I may have derailed it while I worked some things out in my mind; apologies if I did).  About the fact that, as I said in previous post, shipping to me is just adoring the dynamic between two people--with a romantic or sexual aspect added to that.  But there are lots and lots of relationships I just adore that I don't think of as necessarily sexual or romantic at all, but who I just want to watch together onscreen (or read together on the page).

So I decided to rebel against the limitations of shipping, and this is my list of characters whose interactions make me ridiculously happy (again, sticking to TV and Harry Potter).

1.   Spike and Angel (Buffyverse)  [This one is totally first.  And above all.]
2.  Mal and every single person on his crew (Firefly) [Is that cheating?  Sorry.]
3.  The Doctor and Donna (Doctor Who) [Sort of the Doctor and anyone, but I really, really like Donna.  They just adore each other.  It's wonderful.]
4.  The Non-Judging Breakfast Club - Blair, Serena, Chuck, and Nate (Gossip Girl)
5.  Kendall and Cassidy (Veronica Mars) [I think I'm the only person to write fic about these two, but it's irresistible.]
6.  Spike and Dawn (Buffyverse) [My biggest regret about S7 is that the writers didn't let them reconcile.  CURSE YOU, WRITERS!]
7.  Spike and Sam (Press Gang) [She's like a female version of him!  They never interacted nearly enough.]
8.  Gaius and Head!Six (Battlestar Galactica) [I'd forgotten how much until the finale.  That's the one good thing the finale gave to me.  And okay, I may ship them just a bit.]
9.  The Fab Four - Veronica, Logan, Lilly, Duncan (Veronica Mars)
10.  The Fanged Four - Spike, Angel(us), Darla, Drusilla (Buffyverse)

Then, I also have a mild obsession with close families.  I need to write more family!fic because I looooove it.  These are the ones who make me happiest:

1.  Dean and Sam (Supernatural) [I haven't watched any of S4 yet, and I've kind of wandered away from my interest in the show, but I still love them).
2.  The Black Family (Harry Potter) [Oh, the fic I've written.]
3.  Simon and River (Firefly)
4.  Veronica and Keith (Veronica Mars)
5.  Tommy and Kevin (The Black Donnellys)

There are probably others I'm missing on this list, but that's who popped into my head.

Things I've noticed:  I just really, really like Spike(s). ;)
