Gah.
I just…don’t even know what to say. I’m still trying to process this, but I want to get my feelings down now while they’re still fresh.
First of all, I have to remind myself that I haven’t seen any of the rest of season 3 so everything I say is tainted. That said, I feel like I can still have a true fan reaction, because I still love these characters.
And that reaction is: these were great episodes, but I need closure, dammit!
I know that this is how all the seasons have ended—with cliffhangers: who’s at the door? Why didn’t Keith meet her at the airport? But this was different.
If this was a regular season finale, it would have been great. And there’s a lot of poetry in the “full circle” Veronica’s made: Jake Kane, Clarence Wiedman, losing her reputation, Logan kicking peoples’ butt and being on Veronica’s bad side, Wallace sticking with her, Keith (probably) losing the sheriff’s badge, Lilly's face looking down from the wall (which, wasn't that incredible? My sister and I nearly lost it when we saw that). I appreciate that.
But this season didn’t end with one question. It ended with about a million things I still want to know: Will Keith win? Why is Jake Kane really back and what the heck is up with those members of “The Castle”? Will they come after
This isn’t like the end of Firefly. Yes, it was canceled abruptly, but even if we didn’t have the Big Damn Movie, "Objects in Space" was still a heck of a way to go—the perfect ending, if it had to end at all.
This? Not so much.
And that, my friends, is life.
I’ll probably have more thoughts on this later, but for now…
