*sigh* Hulu is prejudiced against Canadians, or I'd totally try that :\
I'd heard that ratings have been quite bad this season, lower even than last season, but...it *is* just two episodes in, so I'm not quite in panic mode yet...of course, I lost Kings just a little while ago, so I think I'm becoming resigned to the cancellation of my preferred shows. This is why I read and write more than I watch tv (besides the fact that I grew up without the latter :P)--either the story is complete, or I can finish it all in my head anyway. And maybe I'll just hide under a rock for a while, too.
either the story is complete, or I can finish it all in my head anyway Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. It's definitely the most frustrating thing about TV shows.
I nearly never watched TV growing up; we had one, of course, and I watched a little bit, but it wasn't till college that I discovered that really good TV does the same thing for me that a novel does--gives me characters who change a grow and time to know them. That's why it's so disappointing that there's this massive downside to it all.
We didn't have tv until I was...about sixteen, maybe? And I've never really gotten used to it. I have a tendency of watching a show and then suddenly deciding I'm finished here (eg. s1 Heroes). I like TV better than movies in a lot of ways, especially for the reasons you've mentioned, but I'm not always good with watching it as it's on. I'm good with DVD sets; we're good old pals, me and The Entire Collection! DVD's. Also, all my shows end up getting cancelled, so. It can really suck knowing everything that's going on behind the scenes of a show, especially re: cancellation/ratings :(
I'm good with DVD sets; we're good old pals, me and The Entire Collection! DVD's. Oh, absolutely. Most of the shows I'm really into, I watched most if not all of them in season- or series-sized chunks. I greatly prefer that as well, and I so hear you on the getting canceled thing.
