Maybe everyone's seen this before, but it blew my mind. Mostly because I didn't believe it could be done in a more serious way like this.

From the website: In this remixed narrative Edward Cullen from the Twilight Series meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer at Sunnydale High. It's an example of transformative storytelling serving as a critique of Edward's character and generally creepy behavior. Through Buffy's eyes some of the more patriarchal gender roles and sexist Hollywood tropes embedded in the Twilight saga are exposed in hilarious ways.

But honestly? I think it's sadder and scarier than it is funny. Although the parts where you know she's supposed to be talking to Spike or Angel are pretty hilarious. But this made me love Buffy more than ever--never has there been a better use for her eyerolls. She just doesn't have time for this shit.

And I haven't seen the Twilight movie, but if these clips are any indication, it has to contain the worst acting known to man.

That was deeply satisfying. Although it kind of reminded me that both Spike and Angel did the stalk-y thing and it ended up working. Of course, there was a lot more to both those characters than that.

[identity profile] penny-lane-42.livejournal.com 2009-06-26 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
That's the best way of putting it--satisfying.

Yeah, but as you alluded to, the stalking this was always more complicated with our BtVS guys than it was with Edwards, and it wasn't ever treated like something desirable.

I adore that icon. Every time I see it, it makes me happy. Mostly because the idea of Giles grinning so wide over that book....

mostly i'm impressed with the fight scene. the editing of that is pretty stellar.

the acting in twilight is pretty epically bad. my new source of (constant) amusement is the new moon trailer, which is epically epically bad. ; )

The editing is fabulous, isn't it? So well done! Though I'm more impressed by hunting down all those various bits of dialogue from every season and making them fit.

Oh, yeah, I've seen that one, but thanks for giving me an opportunity to watch it again. And laugh. Again.

[identity profile] slaymesoftly.livejournal.com 2009-06-21 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
I hadn't seen it, but I think it's amazing. And fun. And had I had any desire to see the Twilight movie(s), (which I definitely did not!), this would have cured me. lol

[identity profile] penny-lane-42.livejournal.com 2009-06-26 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
I adore it. Like someone said upthread, it's so satisfying.

And I know exactly what you mean. I knew they were bad, but I hadn't realized just how bad.

[identity profile] inkstainedskin.livejournal.com 2009-06-21 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
That is the best thing I have ever scene.

And yes, the acting in the Twilight movie was horrible. I went to see it not expecting anything that fabulous, but with some hope and ended up hystertically laughing through the entire movie. I thought the 13 year old fangirls were going to kill me.

[identity profile] penny-lane-42.livejournal.com 2009-06-26 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
I know, right? Greatest thing in the history of great things.

I really wanted to see it in theaters for the express purpose of laughing hysterically and p.o.ing fangirls. I'm so glad to know someone else did.

[identity profile] that-september.livejournal.com 2009-06-21 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
Hahaha! I'm not super far into Buffy yet - actually, hardly far at all - but from what little I've seen, this was spot on. Extremely satisfying. And trust me, just be glad you didn't have to see more of Twilight than this. Worst acting known to man is an understatement.

[identity profile] penny-lane-42.livejournal.com 2009-06-26 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, when you've seen even more, its satisfaction-inducement level will fly off the charts, I'm telling you.

Oh, I'm glad. Very glad.

Also, that icon is the greatest thing ever.

[identity profile] moonlightrick.livejournal.com 2009-06-21 07:42 am (UTC)(link)
lol, the sleep-watching part was awesome.

The movie...is just hilariously bad. Actually, if you can find it for free, it's worth a few laughs if for the first meeting alone *g*

[identity profile] penny-lane-42.livejournal.com 2009-06-26 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
I loved the sleepwatching part.

I'm going to get it from the library and make my sister watch it with me so that I can laugh. I rarely find mainstream comedies funny, but this is something I know will get more than a few giggles.

Re: TWILIGHT. Yes. The pits.

[identity profile] penny-lane-42.livejournal.com 2009-06-26 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly. Just...exactly.

Here off a link from [livejournal.com profile] petzipellepingo.

That was extremely satisfying. I actually had to read the book and watch the film because the college I work for required it. Twas painful. Do not bother.

[identity profile] penny-lane-42.livejournal.com 2009-06-26 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
That's the word people keep using--satisfying--and it so works for this.

I read the first one way back in the day before the popularity explosion came, and I concur: horrific.

Hah, amen.

I feel like this calls for this shirt:

if these clips are any indication, it has to contain the worst acting known to man

Oh man, the movie is worth it just for the ridiculous ~*~intensity~*~. The entire movie is the two leads staring at each other and being so srs bzns that I wanted to die for the awkwardness.

[identity profile] penny-lane-42.livejournal.com 2009-06-26 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
I adore that shirt. If I wore t-shirts, that would be the first one I would buy.

The entire movie is the two leads staring at each other and being so srs bzns that I wanted to die for the awkwardness. Greatest description ever. That settles it: I'm getting it from the library just for the lulz.

I just saw that the other day, in my weekly round up of ways to defeat Twilight - or in other words, reading Jezebel. What horrifies me is that yes, this is hilarious but it also reaffirms to me how fucking creepy those books are. The more I think about it, the more I worry about the message it's sending to an entire generation of girls who now think that stalking has it's advantages.

Also the movie? So bad. I mean, acting wise that's pretty much all they could do with what they were given (I have weirdly epic love for the cast because they all seem to realise what a crock of shit this franchise is.) But god! Even the direction is terrible, the film looks like it was mildewed and dirty, there were several 80s camera swirling pan shots and the special effects were shit. Of course, those last ones I only realised upon my third viewing. Third? Because the first two were done drunk. Believe me, Twilight is not something you want to watch sober.

[identity profile] penny-lane-42.livejournal.com 2009-06-26 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
HEY YOU. *glomps*

in my weekly round up of ways to defeat Twilight - or in other words, reading Jezebel. This right here? Why I love you. (Well, along with a thousand other reasons, of course, but this is a good one, don't you think?)

Oh, I know exactly what you mean about the creepifying factor. Honestly, even though I found this funny, I found it way creepier. If there was going to be a mash-up, I would have expected it to be goofy with upbeat music. This, all stripped down and straightforward: so much more powerful.

I meant to go see the movie while it was out so that I could laugh at it hysterically (Kyrie said she never laughed so hard at a movie, and I was jealous), but I never got around to it.

I have weirdly epic love for the cast because they all seem to realise what a crock of shit this franchise is I know! Every time RPattz talks about how creepy it is that he's acting out this woman's sexual fantasies, I am filled with more and more glee.

Ha! Well, if I ever do get drunk, then, I'll have to watch the movie. Though I guess I'll have to bring a portable DVD player, because if I ever get drunk, it's going to be sitting on Faulkner's grave. It's a nice flat surface and everyone leaves liquor bottles there and I could commune with his spirit. That's my plan.

[identity profile] rosie1234.livejournal.com 2009-07-17 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
lol, I watched this some time ago and loved it! My favorite part was when she through Edward out the window, if I had been Bella and thought some Creep was watching me sleep I would do the same (or at least use a base ball bat), lol.

[identity profile] penny-lane-42.livejournal.com 2009-07-23 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, the throwing out of the window is beyond awesome. And yes, a baseball bat would be the right thing to do.
