lirazel: An outdoor scene from the film Picnic at Hanging Rock ([af] Rockin')

*sneaks in*

If you're new around here (and by "around here" I mean my journal), you may be unaware that I do this completely obnoxious thing where I will fall off the internet for a matter of weeks with no warning. I like to call this "hiatus-ing," but really, it's just annoying. Then I try frantically to catch up with what's been going on in everyone's lives, and it is not pretty.

So! Apologies for that, and in reward for your patience, I will not spam you with useless information about my life except to say that it is FREAKIN' COLD here, and I do not approve at all. Someone remind me why humans don't hibernate?

Also, I want to remind you that May is still hosting
THE CROSS-A-DRABBLE MEME
and there's some incredibly amazing stuff going on over there: lots of unexpected things (did you ever in your life think you'd be able to read an Edmund Pevensie/Wendy Darling fic?), and all that I've read has been lovely.

I also just posted an Almost Famous/The Virgin Suicides fic pairing William Miller and his adorable self with Lux Lisbon called One More Song About Moving Along the Highway, and I'm going to shove modesty to the side and say that I think it's really good, so you might want to check it out.

Also, a few of my Spuffy pieces have been nominated at the Fang Fetish Awards, which totally makes my year.  Thanks so much to whoever nominated me!

Now! Links!

*  Stephen King has pissed off the Twihards by daring to say that Stephenie Meyer can't write worth a darn.  The fallout is hilarious.

* First off, let's all try to contain our fury: someone is remaking Bonnie and Clyde. On top of that, Hilary Duff is going to be Bonnie. Which is enough to make me want to go to the Dark Side and blow up planets and things, but I'm trying not to think about it. What I am thinking about is how neither Hilary Duff nor Faye Dunaway is proving to be very classy: they've started a fued. Oh, ladies. Not that I don't understand why Faye is so upset--I do--but still. Didn't thier mamas teach them better than this?

* This sounds like the greatest book ever, and I will totally buy a copy. How did someone know that I'd been waiting all my life for the combination of costume dramas and zombies?!?!?!

* If that upset you, please to be going here, where you can read the entire plot of Pride and Prejudice in facebook form. My favorite link of the month.

* For the grammar Nazis among us, this is my new favorite blog: The "Blog" of "Unnecessary" Quotation Marks. Glorious.

* This Buffyverse vid made my day.

* Neil Gaiman won the Newbery Award! I haven't read the book yet, but I'm thrilled for him.

Now. I'm off again to get some more writing done and to try to catch up with y'all. Peace!

I haven't seen that Buffy vid in years! I forgot how happy-inducing it was.

Yeah, it made me grin. All those pretty people so happy!

Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy it's you!

I miss you when you go away D:.

I am off to look at all those links! And you might be pleased to know that a girl across the hall from me has the complete Buffy series and I will be watching it starting this weekend. :D

Yayyyyyyyyyyyyy it's you!

I miss you, too! You're too, too sweet.

The links are all a bunch of fun. I hope you enjoy.

And oh. my. goodness. I am so excited for you! You must let me know how you like it! Just keep in mind that the first season, while charming in a sort of cheesy way, is not very good and that you have to hold on till the second season before it really gets worth it, y'know?

So good to hear from you!

Awww♥. Oh my GOD lol, the facebook Pride & Prejudice. *dies* That was brilliant. And I am loving this quotation blog haha, this is amazing.

Can't wait for Buffy! Thanks for the warning, though - I promise I will give it a chance! Though so many people with great taste love it that I would have anyway :D.

Good to hear from you too!

Yeah, the Austenbook thing was beyond genius. I now want to see all famous novels written like that.

Though so many people with great taste love it that I would have anyway :D. That was the thing that got me into it--every person whose taste I trusted loved it.

Mrs. Bennet KNEW that single men with good fortunes would want wives. HEEEE. THAT IS SO AWESOME. Totally made my day.

And I know! Everyone's writing such crazy good stuff and I'm constantly surprised whenever I go check the page. Yay for the internets (and you) for being awesome.

Aha, oh twilight fandom. When will you ever not be complete lulz.

And I love that whenever I'm all where is Lauren at you pop in with an entry ♥

AND I never actually saw the original Bonnie and Clyde, but um, Hilary Duff needs to shut up and respect her elders. You came by fame through the power of being a cutesy blonde character called Lizzie Maguire. You don't get to say nothing about nothing (and yes, that needed the double negative to drive down the point.)

I'm so glad that the drabble-a-thon has been as successful as it has--by which I mean, multiple people contributing some really good stuff. You should do this every few months or so.

And I love that whenever I'm all where is Lauren at you pop in with an entry ♥ It's when I get to missin' y'all too much.

I did feel like Faye Dunaway was kind of needlessly harsh, but I did completely agree with her. And you.

That is a fabulous icon. I got in my truck the other day (yes, I drive an itty bitty truck and look funny doing it) and "All Along the Watchtowers" was playing, and I wondered if I was about to be activated or something. It was kind of wonderful.

Pride and Prejudice in facebook form.

That is the most amazing thing I have ever scene. Nineteenth Century Regency England with facebooks. Oh, the possibilities.

I know, right? There should be an entire website devoted to turning great literary works into facebook.

There is no love lost between P&P and myself, but I'm so buying that book. It's by the same guy who wrote How to Survive a Horror Movie, which is basically one of my bibles for life, so it's definitely gonna be WICKED AWESOME.

[identity profile] penny-lane-42.livejournal.com 2009-02-10 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Anyone who would write a book called How to Survive a Horror Movie gets and A+++ in my book any day. Especially if you love it! *adds to list*

Oh, man, HtSaHM one of the most awesome things ever. Proof: it's got a section titled "What To Do If There Are Snakes On Your Plane." Run, don't walk, to the Humor section of your nearest bookstore next time you visit it.

I probably won't have me-fun-reading-time until after graduation (don'ththinkaboutitdon'tthinkaboutitdon'tthinkaboutit), but I will definitely check it out as soon as I can. It sounds glorious.
