THIS IS THE BEST OF ALL IDEAS. Basically it's to get us to share the things we love with each other: you make a wish-list of things you wish more people would watch/listen to/read/write, and then you go through other people's lists and say, "I can totally watch ____!" or "I will definitely read ____!" and make each others' dreams come true! Could anything be more delightful? Y'all should all head over there and join! And then come back here and read about why you should give these things I love a chance.

Watching:
* I wish someone would watch Friday Night Lights (more about this show in this post)

* I wish someone would watch Shut Up Flower Boy Band (and if you need me to help you find access to it, I totally will) (more about this show in this post)

* I wish someone would watch School 2013 (same as above)
- It's another one of those fabulous Korean shows about high school that doesn't condescend to its teenage characters and takes their problems seriously but also knows that sometimes the emotions of adolescence can blow things out of proportion. It focuses on the kids and teachers of one high school class in an average sort of Korean high school. It has a wonderful female lead in the young teacher who's desperately trying to connect with these kids and show them that someone cares about them. She's frequently frustrated in that endeavor, but there are enough glimmers of hope along the way that you know it's worth it. And the kids are worth falling in love with--the quiet loner who does unexpectedly good and selfless things for those around him and who's lugging around a secret; the icy, bitchy girl who's totally focused on academics and who's not scared of anything; the new kid who comes along and shakes everything up...there are so many characters to love in this show.

* I wish someone would watch The Thin Man movies
- These are classics for a reason, y'all. I grew up watching them and I will never get tired of them. They're romantic comedy mysteries set in the 30s (but with no hint of Prohibition in sight) and are all about how Nick and Nora Charles--a famous detective and his heiress wife--flirt and drink and solve mysteries together. They are the DEFINITION of delightful, and Nick and Nora are the OTP to end all OTPs, let me tell you. Roger Ebert also thinks you should watch the first film, just fyi. And once you do, I bet you'll want to watch all the rest. (The first one starts a bit slow, but just hang on till Nick and Nora arrive--you'll be glad you did.)

Reading:

* I wish someone would read Octavia Butler's Kindred
- This is a fantastic book that sprang on me out of nowhere and smacked me in the face. I started reading the first few lines one day, not intending to actually read the book at that moment because I was in the middle of something else. But I could not stop. It's about a modern black woman who gets sucked back in time to the plantation where her ancestors lived. And it's about the kyriarchy. Which makes it sound stuff and dull, but it's not. It's riveting and easy to read and I was breathless reading through it. But it's so clearly focused on ideas of power and intersectionality and the way that hierarchies complicate our relationships and it's deep. And will make you think, even as you enjoy it.

* I wish someone would read M.M. Kaye's Shadow of the Moon (but the 600-page version, not the shortened version)
- Okay, so I am so obsessed with this book it's a little unhealthy. It's a big, long epic by the woman who wrote The Far Pavilions, which I have never been able to read all the way through. This book, though, I have read ten or twelve times AND I LOVE IT. It's set in India under the Raj (or, actually, right before the Raj) and its main characters are European, which could be a lot more problematic than it ends up being, because the writer is totally on the side of the people of India. Anyway, it's got adventure and a perfect romance and the characters are amazing and you should read it. It is out of print, though, and the 600 page version is hard to get your hands on, but it's worth checking at your local library to see if you can get a hold of it. I LOVE IT SO.

Writing:

* I wish someone would write some Infinite fic :D
- What can I say? I'm greedy! I want WooYeol fic and MyungYeol fic and WooGyu fic and 2WooGyu fic and Hojong fic and friendship fic and OT7 fic and ALL THE FIC. If you want ideas, I can throw a bunch at you. I am just always hungry for more fic about my boys, okay?

* I wish someone would write some miss A fic
- About the ladies. Anything at all. I'm not picky.

* I wish someone would write Shut Up Flower Boy Band fic
- You'd have to watch it first, of course. :D I am always wanting fic involving Jihyuk, Suah, Hyunsoo, and Yerim in absolutely any permutation.

* I wish someone would write Goong/Princess Hours fic
- I JUST REALLY WANT MARRIEDS!FIC OKAY? Anything involving our crown prince and princess! Being awkwardly married! Being in love! Being silly! Being angsty! ANYTHING.
