I was going to say it's just Baz Luhrmann, too. He may not be doing what he calls his "Red Curtain Cinema" as he did with Strictly Ballroom, Romeo+Juliet and Moulin Rouge, but he's still a dynamically visual director so 3D might appeal to him on a creative level.
