What the hell, Academy Awards????

The only nomination Bright Star gets is for costume design?

I hate the world.

OH GOOD! It's been a little...questionable lately. I am glad to hear it's back in good form!

YES! I completely agree! I do think they should let Lilly nad Robin have more episodes. That would help. But the roles? Totally inverted, and it's EPIC.

I adore pop culture studies, too. I would absolutely lovelovelove to do the same thing, but A) I'm not sure I'm going to do the masters thing even though EVERYONE EVER tells me I should, B) if I did, I probably wouldn't be able to get into a pop culture-y type program because I had the opportunity to write exactly one paper about that type of thing in undergrad (Spike! And gender! And Foucauldian power binaries!), and C) I'd probably end up doing Southern studies and writing about Faulkner and Welty and O'Connor and feminism and gender heirarchies, which would be awesomely fun...but not as cool as writing about TV.

But then, my crazy, never-gonna-happen dream is to write for TV, a really good drama, and then create/executive produce my own shows. I think I'm gonna stick with the slightly more reasonable dream of being a novelist.

SO FUNNY. i mean, as characters i like lily and robin the least but i also recognize that since that is me and not the way most fandom is, that they are both written well and i appreciate that given the status of women in tv these days. i miss bsg.

DUDE, WHATEVER, JUST GET YOUR MASTERS. i'm getting like two ph.ds, lady; we'll have a party. it'll be GREAT.

if you ever make it to hollywood and do screenwriting, i am more than willing to join anyone's staff writing team. my mother is always pushing me in this direction. my parents are so weird - they don't think i should be a college professor, oh no. they want me to be a writer because they think that somehow is a more viable career choice. one time my father said, "don't go to law school, they don't make money anymore. i think you should be a poet."

DIRECT QUOTE.

idgi but i kind of love it.

Yeah, I like them the least, too, but I want MORE WOMEN WITH AGENCY. Which they do tend to have; I just think that sometimes it should be less of a boys' show.

We all miss BSG. *sniff*

A MASTERS PARTY.

I would definitely let you join my staff. [livejournal.com profile] angearia is already on it, and I think you and [livejournal.com profile] madcap_shiny and [livejournal.com profile] ineffort and [livejournal.com profile] ava_leigh_fitz and [livejournal.com profile] likeserendipity (where has she been lately?) should all be on it and we would create the most awesome show in the history of the world.

I think I adore your parents. That is the greatest quote I have ever read. Ever.

true true.

we do all miss bsg. it's pathetic, actually. i still don't know why they ended it so soon; i feel like if it had a fifth season or so they would have made it suck less. but maybe it was just delaying the inevitable fail. :(

YES A PARTY. we'll share notes. tbqh a dissertation on women in pop culture sounds like an excellent life plan to me! "what do you do for a living?" "i watch tv."

personally, i have always felt that fandom should just build a tv show. we're smart ladies, we understand television rather than just watching it, some of us are feminists, many of us are writers. we should just do it. and go.

haha my parents certainly have their failures (there are more tags. oh dear), but they certainly have their moments of A++++

This is what I want to happen for life.
