lirazel: An outdoor scene from the film Picnic at Hanging Rock ([dh] that look in your eyes)

Ah!

Yuletide = panic. I just don't know about this, y'all. I just don't know.

Meeting up with high school friends (including childhood BFF who I haven't seen in like three years and who just got engaged to a guy I've never met and who I suspect is a completely different person now and I will have nothing in common with) = weird. We'll see.

Trying to get all of my fic into the AO3 = TEDIOUS. Why do I use so many italics? Why oh why oh why?

BFF having gone back to her hometown for Christmas = SUUUUUCK.

Most of the people I know (most of my friends are either still students or have become teachers) getting like a month off for break while I get two days = SUUUUCK X 1000.

Trying to get all of my life together and be an adult so that I can move out of the house = SCARY AS HELL. AS HELL. ASK DEAN WINCHESTER. AND ANGEL. THEY KNOW. HELL IS SCARY YO.

Not having gotten presents yet = not that bad, surprisingly. I don't give to many people. I just gift with my time.

Meeting up with future roommate to chat = kinda fun, even though I spent the whole time wondering what her reaction will be when she figures out how big of a geek I am.

Spending lots of time at work on the TV Tropes Wiki = WIN.

Me failing at lj by not replying to seven zillion comments = typical. But still made of fail.

Dollhouse = conflicted. Again.

But!

ENVER = LOOOOOVE. Also Topher = getting more awesome and lovable with each subsequent episode.

Yeah. That's about all the math I know.

Dude, my mom is friends with the mother of one of my earliest childhood friends on Facebook so she's seen a few pictures of her, and she's gotten very blonde and supertanned and I think she's a cheerleader and I'm pretty sure if we talked we would have ZERO THINGS in common. Like ZERO. We used to play with My Little Ponies for hours on end and I think that now, we would have absolutely nothing to talk about. So I hear you and wish you luck.

Trying to get all of my life together and be an adult so that I can move out of the house = SCARY AS HELL. AS HELL. ASK DEAN WINCHESTER. AND ANGEL. THEY KNOW. HELL IS SCARY YO.

YOU CAN DO IT I KNOW THIS. THEY GOT OUT OF HELL, TOO. ANGEL IN PARTICULAR GOT TO HAVE HIS OWN DETECTIVE AGENCY. WHICH EVENTUALLY RESULTED IN A LEGION OF HELL BEARING DOWN ON LA, BUT I'M LOOKING ON THE BRIGHTSIDE HERE.

TV Tropes! Oh, so many of my hours have gone to that website, true story. I love that place like cake.

Dollhouse! The entire time I was watching I kept thinking WHAT WILL LAUREN HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS?

I'm sooo behind on comments...

I've had a few encounters like that with old friends. It's always so surreal. Thankfully, this friend and I got to bond over our mutual love of young adult novels (she's getting her Masters in Reading right now), and so all was well.

?ANGEL IN PARTICULAR GOT TO HAVE HIS OWN DETECTIVE AGENCY. WHICH EVENTUALLY RESULTED IN A LEGION OF HELL BEARING DOWN ON LA, BUT I'M LOOKING ON THE BRIGHTSIDE HERE. WAY TO CHEER ME UP, KYRIE. YOU KNOW JUST WHAT TO SAY. /snerk

I love TV Tropes like I love pie! Oh, and I'm compiling a list of my favorite narrative kinks that I'm going to link to from my profile in hopes of attracting similarly-minded people. It's gonna be epic, so watch for it!

THAT MAKES ME LOVE YOU EVEN MORE!

*pats* There, there. Your Yulefic will be lovely, I've no doubt.

I, however, am in panic mode. I think I'm going to try to get ahold of an ecopy of the canon tonight.

As for AO3, you realize, right, that you can take the HTML code straight from an LJ entry and cut/paste it into the AO3 upload window? That cuts down on the tedium of having to reformat everything (although I still have to do some cleaning up and other fiddling).

*hugs*

Oh, I feel your pain! I'm so busy the next couple days with work (why am I working so much this week? WHY?!) and writing (TYSK Chapter, 3 fics for friends = DEATH) and editing (for you! This will be my fun time where I'm not choking myself to DEATH!) and shopping (I completely and utterly fail).

Plus it snowed yesterday so it's all cold and slushy and gross. Yuck. I left Minnesota for reason, y'all!

As for AO3, you should be able to just import with the link. Is the formatting go all kablooey when you do that?

AND...

*HUGS*

Send me your fic when you feel ready, k? I'm sure it's brilliant! *slays your writerly insecurities, then shoots them with rocket launcher to be extra sure I demolished them BAM!*

Ommmmg YULETIDE. I am freaking out so bad in the regard. Time has snuck up on us, you. Yours will be fabulous though I have no doubt. And aw, that sucks that you have no time off.

ASK DEAN WINCHESTER. AND ANGEL. THEY KNOW. HELL IS SCARY YO. I laughed so hard at this you don't even know. YOU ARE AWESOME.

I'm sooo behind on comments...

I am completely unfamiliar with the fandom for your Yuletide entry, but I might have to check it out anyways just because you wrote AND I'M SURE IT'S EPIC.

laughed so hard at this you don't even know. YOU ARE AWESOME.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

I am dreading moving all my stuff over to AO3. Sometime over break...

Btw, did you see the headers I made? I replied to your comment over in my LJ.

[identity profile] penny-lane-42.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
It's been a laborious task, honestly.

I did, I did! And it was while I was at work, so I couldn't actually reply, but... *scampers out*

Go, go! *cheers you on your Yuletide fics*

Go, GO! *cheers you on your Road to Adulthood(TM) even though I myself petrified at the idea of After Graduation*
If you’re in luck, she’ll be geeky as well.

Oh that blasted TVTropes. I once got to chatting with an old, similarly fandom-geeky, high school friend while she was trying to do some work, and then I mentioned that site. She’d never heard of it before. I got an IM about 30 minutes later= Now I’ll NEVER get any work done! I replied- That’s the same thing I thought when I was first discovering that site!

Tsk, Topher is fast becoming my favorite character. Victor!Topher just sealed the deal.

About Yuletide: do you write for ONE person with many different fandoms? Or do you write for the fandoms of your choice, with different people requesting each one?

I'm sooo behind on comments...

Thanks for all the cheers, love! They mean a lot!

Yuletide goes like this: you get to submit four prompts in different fandoms. You also sign up for as many fandoms/characters as you want to that you're willing to write. Then (probably using a computer program), you're matched up with someone whose prompts matches a fandom you'll write. Then, you write! Does that make sense?
