lirazel: An outdoor scene from the film Picnic at Hanging Rock (Default)

SARAH!

With the exception of epic squeeing about Gossip Girl, I really haven't had time to post or catch up with any of y'all lately because, hello, finals week (two more. After Wednesday, I'm FREE!). However, I couldn't not share my sheer insane glee at this.

Sarah Michelle Gellar has finally found a movie worthy of her. That's right, y'all. Not a horror film. Not a Scooby-Doo movie. But an adaptation of a Paul Coelho novel that looks more than amazing. Even though I've girlcrushed on her since I saw the first season of Buffy, I don't think I'd realized how much I really love SMG until I started watching this trailer and saw how lovely she looked and started squealing with delight. That woman can angst. One of my favorite Joss-isms ever is at Paley when he talked about how he nicknamed her "Jimmy Stewart" behind her back because she can just go there with the pain, like Mr. Stewart, the greatest American actor in pain. The film itself looks like it will be beautifully shot and incredibly well-acted, and I just cannot contain my excitement.

And she's playing a character named Veronika. I don't know why that makes the whole thing infinitely better, but it does.

And since pretty people angsting may be my favorite thing in the history of ever, you can imagine how excited I am about this movie. I will be there opening day.

Better quality trailer here.

Oh, and the scene where she's in the pool was giving me flashbacks. First Eliza in the Dollhouse trailer, now Sarah. SLAYERS IN SWIMMING POOLS!

I am so ridiculous.

Also? Remus Lupin! And, more importantly, TOMMY DONNELLY! Oh, y'all. The crossover potential. I may have to go write Tommy/Buffy fic for this week's [livejournal.com profile] choco_cherries . Just to warn you. (And that might have given me the idea of Dawn/Kevin, too.)

Okay, back to studying.

Eee! This looks amazing. I get so frustrated with SMG wasting her potential. I think she has put in some pretty bad performances also, but with the right writing she is incredible. I was all psyched for her adaptation of "The Girl's Guide to Hunting and Fishing" with Alec Baldwin and then that went straight to DVD.

To be perfectly honest, I haven't seen her in anything other than Cruel Intentions (which was really ridiculous, but she was fabulous as that character), so I don't know about bad performances. Do you really think it's her or just the writing/direction?

I was all psyched for her adaptation of "The Girl's Guide to Hunting and Fishing" with Alec Baldwin and then that went straight to DVD. Me, too! You don't happen to have seen it anyway, have you? I'd like to know if it's worth watching.

I KNOW! I KNOW! I KNOW!

This may sound crazy, but just from watching the trailer like six billion times, I have come to the conclusion that I would watch an entire movie of Sarah and Jonathan Tucker cuddling. TOO CUTE! Of course, I'm also the person who goes crazy over Season 7 because of Buffy and Spike and the Little Touches and Significant Glances. I'm kind of silly like that.

EEEEEEEE.

And that doesn't sound crazy at all. I was totally awwing at how adorable they looked all scrunched up together. I throw in my vote for this movie's existence like whoa. Little Touches and Signifcant Glances are what the really amazing ships are made of I kid you not.

I throw in my vote for this movie's existence like whoa. Glad to know I'm not the only one. I'm such a sucker for the cuddling.

Little Touches and Signifcant Glances are what the really amazing ships are made of I kid you not. So. True. Reminds me of back in the day with Mac and Cassidy and the "Are we winning," which, for obvious reasons, always makes me think of you. ;)

It's been FOREVER since I saw a SMG movie! I can't wait for this!

[identity profile] penny-lane-42.livejournal.com 2008-12-18 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I literally have not seen one other thing (besides Buffy) that she's in besides Cruel Intentions. So anything with her in it that I can watch is exciting to me.

[identity profile] moonlightrick.livejournal.com 2008-12-19 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
In SMG's defence, she was in The Air I Breathe, which was a beautiful (albeit heartwrenching) film. Otherwise, though, ugh, the horror films, they slay me.

Amusingly enough, I was just looking at this book at Chapters before I came home to read your entry. The movie suggests I rather misinterpreted the plot (:P), but it looks great :D

I ordered The Air I Breathe from the library--I should probably get it sometime at the beginning of the week. I'm very excited about it. But I know what you mean--me and horror movies are not mixy things.

That's so funny! I just bought it from Amazon and it arrived a few days ago. Haven't had the chance to read it yet, but I know what you mean about the differences in plot.
