Summary: He swore--no more rich girls.
He swore—no more rich girls. No more spoiled princesses who never hesitate to let you know that they’re better than you…but keep coming back for more till you believe they might actually care (he doesn’t know what’s worse—believing that Lilly actually had feelings for him or that she was just using him for sex). No more being any selfish bitch’s dirty little secret, the guy she can call when the one she really wants is playing hard-to-get (he’ll never forgive Lilly for that—or maybe he’ll just never forgive her for dying). No more running when some daddy’s little girl crooks a finger and purses her lips (and that’s just proof of the last thing that he wants to admit—that he and
He swore, and he tries to maintain some sort of honor (it’s the only way he can stand to look his grandma in the eye), but this is one promise he doesn’t keep.
Because when she comes sauntering in, swinging her hips, flipping her shining hair over her shoulder, looking down her nose at everyone (she’s like a negative of Lilly—a black and white photograph that’s dark where Lilly was fair, cold where Lilly burned, absorbing the light where Lilly reflected it), he stops to stare (hesworehesworeheswore, but one whiff of her more-expensive-than-his-whole-wardrobe perfume, and he forgets).
It’s wrong for it to be like this, both of them just using the other (both of them hating themselves for the same reasons), and every time she leaves (so quickly it’s almost insulting), he swears this was the last time.
So he accepts her goodbye kiss every time, telling himself it’s the last.
But she keeps coming back.
So he keeps kissing her goodbye.
