"So...that's coming along..."
Some spoiler-y Dr. Horrible thoughts!
And, just for fun, a meme! Gakked from
serendipily.
Unpopular Fandom Opinions Meme
Name a fandom, and I'll give you the scoop on at least three of my unpopular opinions related to that fandom!
Buffy
Angel
Veronica Mars
Friday Night Lights
Firefly
Supernatural
Heroes
Gilmore Girls
Harry Potter
That 70s Show
I'll try to be wildly controversial and truly original, though I make no promises.
Could my crush on Neil Patrick Harris get any bigger? (as Izi says, it 's probably inappropriate considering he's gay, but I just don't care at all. He's way too much love.) Somebody over on whedonesque said it best: You know, there are shows that I watch whole seasons of without learning to care about the characters very much. It only took the Whedon team and NPH ten minutes to make me love Billy. I love the way that Neil (and Joss) can make me instantly be on the side of the villain without any sort of objections at all.
Of course, that might have to do with how perfectly, completely smarmy Nathan is as Captain Hammer--what a jackass! I felt so horrible for Dr. Horrible! (And honestly, I did not mean to make that pun. I swear. It just happened.) I adored when Nathan came riding in on the top of that van with the wind in his hair and that horrible smirk on his face! Oh Nathan! He really can do anything, can't he? Heartbroken and noble as Mal or smarmy as Captain Hammer.
The writing was sly and funny and just the right balance between punny and obvious and then clever and witty. Those Whedons can write! And the songs were so funny and great--nearly as good as the ones from "Once More With Feeling." And Neil can sing great, which we already knew. But Nathan can actually sing, too, which was shocking, and Felicia was pretty good, too, though I couldn't really understand the words either one were singing in that last song--I'll need to download the songs and listen to them to figure it all out, though I'm sure they were hilarious.
I'm so impressed by how professional it all was for it basically being a home video. And I'm already totally invested in their characters and cannot wait for tonight at eleven when I can see the next installment!
