Ha! Success!

Finals are done!  *throws confetti and does a happy dance*  So now I can have my life back!

Thirteen days till London!  *throws confetti and does another happy dance.  This will be a lot of confetti to clean up later*  I couldn't be more thrilled!

Life update coming, along with me trying to catch up on my flist, cuz I missed y'all.

Till then:

This is what I do in class instead of actually paying attention.  It's a wonder I make as good of grades as I do.

Personal Canon

Buffy Summers

  1. She loves Giles with an intensity she could never summon for her own father.  But ever since the Cruciamentum, there's a tiny part of her that expects him to let her down.
  2. She sometimes thinks that the cruelest thing she ever did was to finally tell Spike what he most wanted to hear at the moment he was dying.  She’d robbed the words of any power they might have, and he knew it, too.  She’s still not sure if she meant them.  She’s still not sure that she didn’t (<i>she knows she did</i>).
  3. Every winter, she finds a few hours here and there to sneak away to the nearest skating rink.  With her Slayer strength and agility, she could be an Olympic-level figure skater.  When Dawn asks her, standing at the edge of the crater that used to be Sunnydale, what she’s going to do now, that’s what her mind instantly flashes to.
  4. As much as she loves them, she resented Willow and even Tara for staying in her house and not paying rent.  She was the one who couldn’t get the smell of Doublemeat Palace out of her hair for months on end.
  5. There have only been two times in her life that she felt completely hopeless: when Glory took Dawn and when the people she loved and had died for kicked her out of her own house.  Both times, she decided to lay down and just let death come—and it would have if it weren’t for Willow and Spike.  She’s too much of a coward to ever commit suicide outright.

Cordelia Chase

  1. When she realized that she was going to die, that the Powers That Be were giving her just this shot to get Angel back on track, she was kind of relieved.  Because she could never be anything more than a consolation prize for Angel, and he was what she’d been living for for years.
  2. She had truly loved Xander Harris, and he was the first guy to break her heart.  It wasn’t till he did that she realized just how much she’d given up to be with him.
  3. She was more than aware that she was a horrible actress, but if she’d learned anything in her life, it was that she could get by on her looks.
  4. While Jasmine had control of her body, she was aware of everything that was going on.  She just couldn’t do anything about it.
  5. As much as she wanted Wes to be happy—someone should be, and she and Angel could never qualify—she always thought Fred broke up with Gunn for all the wrong reasons.

Elle Bishop

  1. Adam was the one who taught her how to play poker, quizzed her on history, gave her her first kiss.
  2. That blackout she caused in four counties in Ohio?  She did it on purpose.  She’d just found out that Sarah Grace Larkin, who had said she was Elle’s best friend, had invited Jamie Morris to go to Disneyworld with her instead of Elle.  Elle knew exactly what her anger would do.
  3. She hates Claire Bennet more than she’s ever hated anyone, because the annoying cheerleader has exactly the life Elle has always wanted and is still whiny as hell.
  4. The second Noah Bennet told her about the things her father had done to her, she believed him.  She just thought it was cruel of him to tear the only thing she had left away from her.  Elle doesn’t take anything lying down.
  5. She was responsible for her mother’s death.

Hermione Granger

  1. During the Lavender debacle in Sixth Year, she had all the ingredients for a spell to make hair fall out in her trunk.  She’d never admit to how close she came to brewing it.
  2. She’s thought of Harry and the Weasleys as her real family for years, and that feels like a betrayal.  It isn’t that she doesn’t love her normal (boring) parents, it’s just that they have nothing to do with her life, and over time their reality has faded away till Harry’s parents have more presence in his life than hers do in hers.
  3. She missed Harry horribly during the summer at Grimmuald Place between Fourth and Fifth Years.  But it was nice, for once, to have Ron all to herself.
  4. She could learn everything about Quidditch by spending a half an hour with any number of books from the Hogwarts library, but then she wouldn’t get to see Ron’s eyes light up as he explains it all to her.
  5. She knows there isn’t anything she wouldn’t do for Ron and Harry, and that terrifies her.

Inara Serra

  1. She was a gamine, an orphaned street urchin when the Guild found her.  In her nightmares, she’s cold and hungry
  2. The bid for her virginity was the highest the Companion House on Sihnon ever received.  He was old and grey, and she was fifteen.  Afterwards, she cried.
  3. She didn’t cry again till she found out about Mal and Nandi.
  4. When she was a young girl, she liked to imagine that a dashing space pirate would come and sweep her away to his ship and into the Black.  When she met Mal, she had to keep herself from trembling, and she’d never been so thankful for her training.
  5. She inwardly flinches every time Mal calls her a whore.

Jackie Burkhart

  1. She’s pretty sure Steven is the only person she ever really loved.
  2. She knows he’s the only person who ever loved her back.
  3. She complains nonstop about Eric, but she always sort of wished he was her brother and Mr. and Mrs. Forman were her parents.  They were, after all, the only normal, loving (underneath their sarcasm and name-calling) family she ever knew.  She deserved that way more than Laurie-the-Skank did.
  4. She knew good and well that she was sacrificing her popularity when she started hanging out with Michael’s friends.
  5. Sometimes she couldn’t stand her own selfishness.  But it was what kept her safe.  No one else was looking out for her.

Jenny Riley

  1. She’s known about Tommy and Jimmy’s feelings for her for years.  She’s been waiting for Tommy for nearly as long.
  2. She knew her husband was dead long before anyone thought she did.  She’d found out about his “extracurricular activities” on her wedding day.  She married him anyway.
  3. The thing she loves most about Tommy—his absolutely loyalty to those he loves—is also the thing she hates most about him because it means he’ll never have the life she dreams of for him.
  4. When she wipes down the counter, she keeps every abandoned single napkin or scrap of paper Tommy doodles on in a box under her bed.
  5. She still feels blood on her hands.  She suspects she always will.

Jo Harvelle

  1. She knows Dean will never look at her the way she wants him to.  That doesn’t mean that everything she tries to be isn’t for his benefit.
  2. She’d known for years that her mom was in love with John Winchester, maybe even before her dad died.  That’s the real reason she can’t forgive him.
  3. She was hunting in South Carolina when Mom called about the Roadhouse.  She sobbed for Ash for three days.  Then she went out and slaughtered a nest of vampires on her own.
  4. She wanted to be a ballerina when she grew up.  The day her dad died, she changed her mind.
  5. She’d be more than willing to continue to play damsel-in-distress if it mean Dean would do the rescuing.  She hates herself for it.

Rory Gilmore

  1. Sometimes she thinks the real reason none of her relationships ever worked out is that none of her boyfriends loved Stars Hollow the way she did.
  2. The minute she lost her virginity to Dean, she knew she’d made a mistake.  But she was too far in it to back out now.  That would mean it had meant nothing, and she could never have met Jess’s eyes again if that were true.
  3. Sometimes, she thought Grandma was right.  Then she felt guilty, like she was betraying Mom.
  4. Since the day Mom first brought her to the diner, she liked to pretend that Luke was her dad.
  5. She was lying when she told Jess she loved Logan: it was just that everything with Jess was too real, too intense, and she’d only just got her life back on track (thanks to him).  She wasn’t ready for that yet, and Logan was easier.

Tyra Collette

  1. She really loves football.  She just hates what it does to everyone around her.  It’s worse than the oil.
  2. Her reputation doesn’t matter: she lost her virginity to Tim, and until Connor, there wasn’t anyone else (she never intended to sleep with Smash, even if his mom hadn’t burst in on them).
  3. She always knew that if Lyla Garrity crooked her finger, she would lose Tim forever.
  4. She’s fond of Landry, but it’s really just that she deserves to have someone love her.
  5. On her darkest days, she’s sure she’ll end up exactly like Mindy, or, just as bad, her mom.  She’s long ago resigned herself to it.

Veronica Mars

  1. Wallace is a much better best friend than Lilly could ever hope to be, and Veronica knows it.
  2. She’d had a crush on Logan for the first couple of years after he moved to Neptune.  Lilly knew all about it, though Veronica never said a word.
  3. She kind of wanted Dad to marry Alicia Fennel.
  4. Despite everything, she can’t hate Beaver.  Not really.   But she hates Aaron Echolls with every fiber of her being, and not just for Lilly.
  5. She hasn’t always been Daddy’s girl: it wasn’t till after Lilly died and she decided to side with him and they were on their own that she really started to appreciate him.
