SO. I am awake after a great night’s sleep and have come with my feelings re: the mv. I decided to type them up before I read anyone else’s opinions because I am all too easily influenced. But know that these are not set in stone: I reserve the right to change my mind about anything and everything. I will provide you first with MY EMOTIONS! MY EMOTIONS! and then with my actual thoughts. Just in case anyone cares.

FEELINGS: (roughly in order of the mv)

+ Sungjong + kitten = me laughing all over the place. We all know he adores animals, so that’s believable, but sweetness-and-light Sungjong fools no one (or at least it shouldn’t). He and that cat are planning world domination, I’m telling you. His hidden badassery will not be contained.

+ Rapper line looks like it’s FLYING during those opening dance moves. HOW ARE THEY REAL??????????? Such talent is almost disgusting.

+ Pudding, you are ridiculous. You look like you belong in a Land’s End ad omg.

+ The backdrop of the dance scenes is really weird. But I like the sand or sawdust or whatever flying up when they move. That’s cool.

+ WHAT IS ON MAKNAE’SHEAD? At first glance I had the absolutely terrifying thought that it was a faux-First Nations headdress and I cannot overstate the relief I felt when I realized it wasn’t. BUT IT’S STILL RIDICULOUS OMG WHY WOULD YOU PUT THAT ON THAT BEAUTIFUL MAN’S HEAD. I mean, he pulls it off better than most people ever could, but still.

+ I still do not understand why Namu is playing piano in a kindergarten. ESPECIALLY WHEN HE’S APPARENTLY TERRIBLE AT IT.

+ No one believes you’re actually getting texts from anyone, Pudding. Get the phone out of your mouth, you are past the teeth-cutting stage.

+ PRINCE SUNGYEOL IS SO BEAUTIFUL LET’S ALL HOLD HANDS AND WEEP.

+ The love of my life + books. Feeling pretty great about it. The writing that pops up on the walls is hella cheesy, but it’s Dongwoo, so I can go with it. He is magical, after all.

+ PRINCE SUNGYEOL YOU SOUND GREAT!!!!

+ OMG SMALL CHILDREN ATTACKING WOOHYUN. THIS IS EVERYTHING I’VE EVER WANTED IN LIFE. SIGN UP THESE MEN FOR HELLO BABY IMMEDIATELY.

+ I am surely not the only one thinking this choreo has some VERY similar moves to Teen Top’s ‘Be Ma Girl’ right?

+ PUDDING YOU ARE RIDICULOUS.

+ Hoya freaking out about the pricetag or whatever made me laugh SO HARD. YOUR FACE LEE HOWON. I LOVE IT.

+ WHY ARE YOU TRYING ON THOSE SHOES HOAEGI? ISN’T THIS A LADIES’ STORE? If you’re going to try on ladies’ shoes, at least make them pumps or something. Go all the way, darling.

+ I like the glimpse we got of the guys like moving in a circle around Gyu? I WANT TO SEE THIS MOVE FULLY IT LOOKS AWESOME.

+ That cardigan Namu is wearing is the fugliest thing I have ever seen. BURN IT WITH FIRE.

+ I LOVE the way the lights going on matches up with the song—cheesy, yes, but I love it.

+ Yeol blowing on the apple makes me laugh for no good reason. WHY IS HE SO BEAUTIFUL???? This hair REALLY suits him.

+ Speaking of hair I will take a moment to say that I am not thrilled by Dongwoo’s. Everyone else’s is fine, but Dongwoo looked SO GORGEOUS with the blue and the pink and this feels like a step backwards. *wistful sigh*

+ Today we are all Pudding’s classmate judging him and throwing things at his head. FAVORITE LADY. Someone needs to write me fic about her judging Pudding.

+ SPEAKING OF FIC, THE WOOYEOL PIANO SCENE WAS THE GREATEST MEET-CUTE I’VE EVER SEEN AND IF IT DOESN’T RESULT IN 3,938 FICS ABOUT WOOYEOL FALLING MADLY AND ADORABLY IN LOVE I WILL GIVE UP ON INFINITE FANDOM COMPLETELY. I NEED FIC NOW. GET IT TOGETHER, INFINITE FANDOM.

+ We got an melodramatic!Nam Woohyun: Power Vocals shot! My life is happy!

+ THEY USED THE PARADISE ENDING AT THE END. CHOREO-OPPA I LOVE YOU LET’S GET MARRIED.

+ Namu is totally pretending that bear is the beautiful Yeol he just met. You know it.

+ Hoya’s face is flawless.

+ Do they really expect me to believe flawless fashionista Sungjong is taking fashion advice from an animal? PLEASE. His eyes sure are beautiful when he looks right at the camera, though.

+ Sungyeol, I think Woohyun is going to love those fortune cookies. They’re exactly his brand of grease.

+ DONGWOO ON THE ROOFTOP IN THE SUNSHINE. BEAUTIFUL ANGEL DESCENDED FROM HEAVEN. APPARENTLY TO SPREAD LOVE TO ALL THE PEOPLE. IF I COULD BELIEVE ANYTHING I CAN BELIEVE THAT.

+ FOREVER ALONE PUDDING. WATCHING EVERYONE ELSE BE IN LOVE WITH A RIDICULOUS LOOK ON HIS FACE. WOOLLIM KNOWS ME WELL.

+ GYU YOU ARE SO SQUISHY. I wonder if he gave himself a hernia trying to hold in his contempt at having to act that way. I’M A BADASS ROCKSTAR! he rages inwardly. A ROCKSTAR!

+ The shots with all their beautiful faces are PERFECT.

Serious thoughts:

I AM SO HAPPY TO SEE ALL OF THEM TOGETHER AND DANCING AND TOGETHER AND TOGETHER OMG. (Yes, that is a serious thought. That is the most important thought.)

I don’t love the song. I don’t hate it either, and there are things I like about it—it still sounds 80s, the vocal arrangements sound like previous Infinite songs, so I do think it fits well with their overall sound. Good job on that. And it’s pretty catchy. But there’s nothing there for me to really latch onto and love. Knowing me, it’s entirely possible I’ll change my mind after listening to it 80 times. But for the moment I’m pretty meh about the song itself.

The choreo is solid, which surprises no one. I can’t wait for the dance version. The echo of Paradise at the end made me DELIRIOUSLY happy because there’s nothing I love more than the continuity of their dances, the allusions to previous choreography. It makes me want to cry I love it so much. I do think from what I can tell that it looks more like a Teen Top dance than an Infinite one (some of those moves are almost exactly like ‘Be Ma Gurl’) which isn’t necessarily a bad thing—Teen Top has my second favorite choreo. And I might change my mind when I see the whole thing. I was worried that we’d have another ‘Nothing’s Over’ where the choreo matches the song but isn’t that impressive. But this is strong and solid and from what I can tell I really love it.

The style is…eh. Reminds me of Shinee’s latest comeback. I actually don’t mind a lot of bright color, it just veers way too close to tacky for my tastes. (But I’m a simple woman—I’d rather them be in classic black suits or in tanks and tight-fitting pants FOREVER.) Those suits during the dance are pretty terrible, especially Dongwoo’s (I swear they always put him in the most ridiculous get-ups) though I’m kind of in love with Woohyun’s striped pants. Really I guess I have no strong feelings either way except to say that overall I do prefer dark!obsessed!Infinite to fluffy!bunnies!Infinite. But that’s just a preference. I have zero doubts the boys will kill it in performances. Maybe I’ll totally fall in love!

[Aside: I think the reason I LOVE the She’s Back videos so much and don’t care as much for this is because in all the She’s Back videos the boys are playing together. Those videos are about how much they love each other. So the lightness and pop-y fit. Because they love each other. Here they aren’t interacting and so I’m less invested in that lightness, if that makes sense. I could watch them play in the pool or on the beach all day long if they’re together. I AM A GIANT OT7 SAP, OKAY?]

In conclusion, my happiness at seeing them together outweighs my ‘meh’ about the song/concept. I’m really happy about the comeback, even if I’m not ecstatic about the song itself.

I think I love the song for the fact that Sungjong and Sungyeol really shine in it. Yes - there are better ways to do this, probably. But for Yeollie's "coming out" (basically) I love that it was something soft and easy so he would feel comfortable.

I know he is nervous about this and probably was fretting for a long while about not doing well - but the arrangement is so soft and well-suited for him.

Therefore I forgive the rest of the flaws for the sake of this.

Apparently Yeollie's voice is my priority?

they all look gorgeous but my first reaction was literally 'meh', and i think you hit the nail on the head - they're not interacting. the only interaction was yeol somehow meeting namu at his piano class (and even then we don't actually know if they know each other in the mv!verse) but everybody else is just doing their own thing and an mv this cute needs idiot adorable ot7 interaction! but oh well i think the lives will be awesome and yeol is so beautiful i could cry. i really laughed at him doing all that hardcore mixing and measuring out flour just to end up with fortune cookies tho.
