icon love
I am always and forever doing these icon memes, and I'm sure you're all sick of reading them, so if you are, don't. But they're addictive, and I love my icons way, way too much, so I couldn't resist when
madcap_shiny had it up on her journal.
Comment and I'll pick seven of your icons, and then you will explain why you love/are using the icon (who doesn't love talking about their icons, seriously) and then post your explanation/this meme in your journal for other people to squee about their icons, and basically it will be a huge squeefest of love and 100x100 square pixels.

I love Spike and Dawn's relationship. Actually, I love Spike's relationships with all of the Summers women. But I have a special weakness for Spike and Dawn because a) most of the time they're on the same maturity level (I mean, I adore Spike, but maturity has never been his strong point), b) she totally sees through all of his Big Bad-ness and calls him on all his bullshit, c) theirs is the least complicated meaningful relationship Spike has--his other truly meaningful relationships (Angel(us), Dru, Buffy) are all amazing and enthralling but so incredibly messy and at times ugly. But Dawn genuinely likes him. And admittedly, most of the Spike-Dawn relationship is fanon and the writers totally didn't do right by them in the last two seasons of Buffy, but I will always, always love them together. And this icon is just perfect: at that moment in time (mid-Season 5), Spike and Dawn were weird, friendless kids who were feeling completely alienated from the people around them. The Scoobies aren't accepting Spike (and it is my belief that he desperately wants them to, no matter what he says; he always wants to be part of the group) and Dawn doesn't feel real and everyone is acting strangely around her. They need each other, and I think it's a beautiful moment.

My Heroes OTP. Because they're both evil and hot and two of my favorite actors. I'm usually very canon about my pairings, and there is no reason to believe that these two will ever, ever happen. But can you imagine if they got together? The universe would tremble, I swear. And since I love to write them so much ("Playthings" is probably the most twisted thing I've ever written), I needed an icon to go along with it. Fortunately, even though I thought that I was the only one who 'shipped them, there are other crazy people out there who love them as much as I do.

"Not Fade Away" is unequivocally the best series finale I have ever seen. It's amazing to me that Joss and the writers managed to whip up such a mind-blowing episode so quickly and even though it doesn't resolve everything that needed resolving, and even though I'm still annoyed beyond all reason that the show got canceled right after the best season it had, it's almost worth it for just this episode. I love the open-ended ambiguity of the ending (the very fact that the comics exist kind of bothers me because it means that I can't imagine that they all die--not that I want them to, but it was a joy to me to be able to sometimes believe they all survived and other times be convinced they all went down fighting). And I love that it's my boys and Illyria (who's totally kick-ass and, if I may be so bold, a way cooler character than Fred) who are standing together in a perhaps suicidal act of impossible courage just to make the world a little better. That's the definition of champions, y'all.

It's all May's fault. I mean, I loved Cassidy even before I met May (and my world became an infinitely better place), but her mad Cassidy love inspired my own. He's one of those characters who you have to love no matter what he does because he's Kyle Gallner and so cute and vulnerable and he loved Mac and his brother and Cassidy and Kendall are my they-should-never-have-sex-just-live-together-for-the-rest-of-their-lives-and-plot-world-domination-and-snark-at-each-other OTP (yes, I call them that in my mind). And I love this little moment because Veronica's feeling all smug and so sure she's winning at their little stock market gang, and here comes Beaver with his mad skillz and he totally deserves to dominate everyone in sight. Also, I love Kyle's smirk and his little finger snapping thing and the look on Kristen's face.

This was my favorite shot in Serenity. I can't tell you why. It's just awesome.

Everybody needs an icon appropriate for rants and annoyances and venting. This one's mine. And Buffy just looks so dang cute (also, that's her pouty face, and it always makes me think of "Something Blue" and Spike's "Oh! Pouty! Look at that lip! Gonna get it..." which is one of the funniest moments in the series. Oh, those crazy kids.) I wish I looked that cute when I was all annoyed.

First of all, it's a pretty icon. But more than that, someone had the brilliant idea to cast James as Crowley in Good Omens, which is just genius. I'm reading that book right now, and I'm totally picturing James in that role. He's perfect for it, as that one quote should tell you. James as a fallen angel? Oh, yes.
All right,
madcap_shiny. Your turn now.

But yes, Spike and Dawn are my BFF OTP. Well, up there with Veronica and Wallace.
JUST LOOK AT THE PRETTY. *flail* I KNOW! Why won't Kring just realize how much they were made to be the awesome evil villain!couple of the show?
"Yes! That's so true! OMG LOOK AT MORE OF THE PRETTY!" *cheers* But see, that's so much fun.
Okay. For you.

And yeah, the VM fandom days were overrun with me and basically three other people screaming OMG CASSSSSSSSSIDY. WE LOVE HIM. And 99.9 percent of people that ran into us, we're all EWW MURDERER. Which of course made us all the more rabid with our squee.
Just. Kyle. Kyle made that role. And miss, if I hadn't met you last year I don't know what I would have done. Because yes, you > just about the rest of the world.
/sappy sap
Dawn and Spike had such a nice comraderie, (or at least the moments they had the potential of them having that) and yeah, I am nodding my head at everything you've written because we agree like there's no tomorrow apparently.
Illyria did pawn Fred by the end of that series. I adore Fred, but the whole Wesley/Fred/Gunn thing was a little too much. Despite the fact that I adore all three actors in their own respects.
I need to watch Angel from the beginning one day.
And because I must at the very mention of them: ADAM AND ELLE FTW. Especially your take on them.

You're so right about Kyle. He's just so talented and he was so vulnerable in that role...there was no way not to love him.
And miss, if I hadn't met you last year I don't know what I would have done. Because yes, you > just about the rest of the world. AW! I know exactly how you feel. It was fate. ;)
Yeah, I've discovered since I've started writing in the Buffyverse that apparently I can't write Spike without writing Dawn, too. And Angel. Because I may 'ship the pretty boy with Buffy, but I'm maybe even more invested in his relationships with Dawn and Angel. Which is weird, but true.
I adore Fred, but the whole Wesley/Fred/Gunn thing was a little too much. Despite the fact that I adore all three actors in their own respects. I completely agree. Fred and Gunn were all cute and adorable at the beginning, then she broke up with him for the wrong reason. And then the love triangle that messed up that awesome but unexpected friendship between Wes and Gunn. And then Wes angsts over Fred for years and builds her up in his mind till (I'm convinced) he was in love with the idea of her and not her. And then they finally get together, get their moment of happiness, and Joss kills off Fred (which, admittedly, wasn't unexpected). But then everyone is like, "WES/FRED OTP," and I'm like, "Who cares?" Illyria was cooler.
Wow. That was long and rambly and pointless.
Yeah, Angel is a very underrated show. Definitely worth watching all the way through. Just a note, though: when things go all wonky in S4 and you think of giving up, just remember: S5 is the best season the show ever had.
It infuriates me that the only pairing I care about on Heroes will never, ever happen. But I'm so glad you're making with the Adam/Elle love. It makes me endlessly happy.

The suckish thing about my icons ... Well ... I have very little, and half of them will be repeated.
no subject
Yeah, I can't believe that I actually spent money so that I could get more icons. But I did.
You may not have many, but would you like me to pick out some for you to do the meme?
no subject
Yes, yes. Go ahead.

Also: my turn?
my flist rolls their eyes:D
