sometimes i really hate people

popping in just for a sec (replies to other entry comments are forthcoming! i promise!) because i needed someone to complain to.

this review from ff.net just popped up in my inbox on a fic that i completed over four years ago. it's totally marked complete. and it was a collection of vignettes, anyways, so it wasn't like there was more of a plot that was needed.

When are you going to update? Honestly? There are people waiting, you know.
It's been ages too. So...why not update?

obviously i'm not going to dignify this with a response, but the entitlement here just makes me want to throttle someone.

seriously now?

LOL. It's even a completed fic, lol.

People, I swear. I can't even sometimes.

YES. BECAUSE I LIVE TO SERVE AND JUST WRITE WHENEVER, 24/7, JUST FOR YOU. SLAVE TO MY KEYBOARD FOR YOU.

OMG YOUR ICON LOL LOL LOL.

I know. The whole thing made me want to passively-aggressively send a link to my favorite Neil Gaiman blog entry accompanied by I AM NOT YOUR BITCH.

I love that icon. It's just too damn perfect sometimes.

Seriously, people, what is wrong with you? Write your own damn story.

This makes me insanely happy and I am bookmarking it like crazy. And I type that as a reader who still, to this day, wistfully wishes that Chase would finish "Thrall" and Mint Witch would finish "Avatar" and ColdCoffeeEyes would finish "Giving In." THEY OWE ME NOTHING.

People! Get a grip. (Not you, obvs, just ... people.)

Fun fact: the only thing more awesome than imagining "I'm not your bitch" spoken in Gaiman's sophisticated, clipped British English is imagining you say it, accent and sweet grin and hair and all.

Let it be as water off a duck's back, sweetie. Not worth ruffling your feathers over. There are those who will always try to run your life. Best response: "Pfffffffft!"

Lame. Seriously.
I recently had someone bitch at me pretty hard core for not responding to reviews on an archive site frequently enough...on a story I've posted a new chapter for nearly every day for two weeks. I saw red and will admit that I was not above responding. I'm always a little bewildered by people who think they are owed so very much.
I just read that Gaiman post and it was awesomeness!

don't you know you exist to write fic for other people's satisfaction?

GEEZ, Lauren. What were you thinking? Ugh.

[identity profile] local-max.livejournal.com 2011-03-18 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
That's pretty aggravating. "People are waiting" to have a desk thrown at their head. (Apologies if that was too violent! If it was, consider it a metaphorical desk!)

Whenever I get FF.n reviews I laugh and laugh at the realization that people still read the crap I wrote in high school. I laugh even harder at the people who set up author or story alerts for my stuff. Like, I haven't posted anything there in at least five years. Buy a clue.

Some people are just rude and stupid and not worth your time.

LOL entitlementcakes.

Because fan fic writers clearly exist to serve your every whim and need.
