I have nothing to talk about, really! Oh, okay: the weather: I am scared we're going to have another frost and all of the flowers and trees that are budding will die and we will have an ugly spring. SO SCARED. Everything's tenatively pretty right now, but what if EVIL FROST DESCENDS UPON US ALL? I will weep if everything dies. The tulips in my front yard are all green and about to bud! DON'T KILL THE TULIPS, EVIL WEATHER!
I don't! And even if I did, I couldn't watch them at work, alas and alas. I'm planning a date with The X-Files tonight, or possibly Avatar: the Last Airbender, depending on which I'm feeling, so things will be better then.
... youtube is my answer to everything. So my apologies if you're in a situation right now where you can't watch vids or something. In that case, I give you, simply: ♥
I am in such a situation, but: SASSY GAY FRIEND. COMMUNITY SHAPED HAPPINESS. Just knowing they exist makes me feel somewhat better, and I know I'll be watching them tonight!
How about the fact that random strangers (that'd be me) think you're a really talented writer and need to read your stories to get through another day of looking for jobs, getting rejected by jobs, dodging bill collectors and resisting the urge to rip up my degree and flush it down the toilet?
You also made me like *Spuffy* which is like a miracle since I never, ever liked that pairing.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I LOVE YOU FOREVER. I was seriously, I swear, just thinking, "At least Ramin Karimloo exists. That's a pretty good reason the world doesn't suck. Someone should tell me that." I SWEAR. WE ARE CLEARLY PSYCHICALLY LINKED.
And a gen 1 fanvid! I've honestly never watched a Skins fanvid, but I definitely know what I'll be doing tonight! Thank you, love!
Well the world has certainly sucked less for me this week thanks to your fantastic fic recs over at het_reccers. I've been reading a new one each day and they've been rocking my world. Thanks for all the time and care you put into that list.
Now, for the entertainment. Two poems. First, One Heart by Li-Young Lee
Look at the birds. Even flying is born
out of nothing. The first sky is inside you, open
at either end of day. The work of wings
was always freedom, fastening one heart to every falling thing.
This second one is by Joy Harjo. It's called The War Zone
Yesterday in the flare of smoke and temper- we were brilliant warriors weary from battling each other- the illuminations of family ghosts bright red in the storm.
The century is swept toward an inevitable end- as summer trees sway beneath thunderclouds, the wind flattening our faces- Our teeth make refuge for our tongues, skins pulled tight in the vertigo of fear under unbearable pressure.
For a second, I couldn't remember what you meant, and then I remembered my shipper manifesto! I'm thrilled to know that it's of use to people--there really are quite a lot of lovely stories on that list, aren't there? I'm very pleased you're enjoying them!
POETRY. Poetry feeds my soul, and these are beautiful and ones I haven't read before. Thank you so very much for sharing them.
Just look at this post! Look at all the awesome people who jumped right in to help cheer you up. That has to make you smile right? You've got fabulous friends who love you (me included).
I have a quote on my computer monitor that has helped me a lot.
"You can work this out. You can have happiness. This is not the end of the road. This is more like the beginning."
Hahaha! Too fun! John Barrowman is a ridiculous human being and I will never not love to watch Matt Smith do his weird little kick-y dance thing. Thanks!
When I am feeling down of late and/or need to boost my energy, I think, "What have you done today to make you feel ppprrooouuuddd?" in Stevie's voice. And then I list the things I have accomplished that make me feel productive, even if it's something boring and necessary like doing homework.
And you could list "introducing people to the awesomeness that is Miranda," "making people happier through rec posts/fic," "earning an honest living," and, I'm sure, many other things.
And if you still need a reason to smile:
"Hang on a moment!" said Ron sharply. "We've forgotten someone!" "Who?" asked Hermione. "The house-elves, they'll all be down in the kitchen, won't they?" "You mean we ought to get them fighting?" asked Harry. "No," said Ron seriously, "I mean we should tell them to get out. We don't want any more Dobbies, do we? We can't order them to die for us -" There was a clatter as the basilisk fangs cascaded out of Hermione's arms. Running at Ron, she flung them around his neck and kissed him full on the mouth. Ron threw away the fangs and broomstick he was holding and responded with such enthusiasm that he lifted Hermione off her feet. "Is this the moment?" Harry asked weakly, and when nothing happened except Ron and Hermione gripped each other still more firmly and swayed on the spot, he raised his voice. "OI! There's a war going on here!" Ron and Hermione broke apart, their arms still around each other. "I know, mate," said Ron, who looked as though he had recently been hit on the back of the head with a Bludger, "so it's now or never, isn't it?" "Never mind that, what about the Horcrux?" Harry shouted. "D'you think you could just - just hold it in until we've got the diadem?" "Yeah - right - sorry," said Ron, and he and Hermione set about gathering up fangs, both pink in the face.
- Deathly Hallows, Chapter 31, U.S. 625, J. K. Rowling
I do actually sing that to myself in my head, too! I kind of have this shameful desire to stick a picture of Heather Small's face on a popsicle stick and sing it to myself out loud.
You are very good at this encouraging thing! And OMG THAT SCENE reminded me that we're going to see it on film! And in a matter of months! Yay!
My life has been a small hell these last months and every night I felt less alone, I was running for something of hope and your fanfics have given me this breath and this world, so difficult and sad, was a little better. I'll never forget this. Now, these days are better than that and I wanted with so much force that you were speaking Spanish also because I might say everything with the correct words. I felt this one was the moment, you make me better and I'll never forget this. I'm sure that you have these persons in your life, look around, you can hear the universe.
Wow! What a beautiful, beautiful comment! I'm incredibly humbled and happy that my stories could make your life a little easier, and thank you so much for sharing your kindness with me. I'm so very glad that life has gotten better for you and hope it continues to do so. ♥
[eta] And don't worry about the language barrier--your kindness came across beautifully!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GymUCt_MFoY I bless a world where a ridiculously tall, clumsy girl who is not exactly a skinny minnie is THE biggest thing on British tv at the moment. Yah boo sucks to those who think only cookie cutter females can make it and be funny and attractive and adorable. I have watched 'Miranda' an unbelievable number of times since I found it at Christmas.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3iX5S7HIs8 Because this whole series of vids is hilarious and I had to include Spuffy somewhere in my 'the universe ain't that bad' list.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_lLpFYdKj8 'Nativity' - Completely and utterly adorable film with Martin Freeman. I first saw it on the plane and must have looked like a lunatic as I sat there weeping and laughing alternately. Now my go-to movie if I need cheering up. Watch it for Mr Poppy if nothing else. Even the trailer makes me die. 'Sparkle and shine'!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9P4SxtphJ4 Craig Ferguson does a musical version of 'Doctor Who', with aliens, puppets and a little cameo by Matt Smith - now, what could be better than that?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hasKmDr1yrA Darcy, dives into the lake, comes out in wet shirt. Hey, call me shallow, but that image can restore my mood pretty damn fast.
Well, I could go on as I keep thinking of more things! But I hope any of these helps. And I hope your day has improved.
PS - YOUR WRITING - absolute proof that life is good. Can't tell you how many times your stories have cheered me up. So find a mirror, have a look and you will see another item on my never fail list of awsesome things! :)

Re: My never fail list of awesome things for one of 'those' days
Oh, look at all of those! Most of them look like they may be new to me, but the ones that aren't--the Matt Smith on Craig Ferguson and of course Michael Ball--are guaranteed delights. So thank you so much! They look like such fun!
I'm going to be tickled to death if it comes down to him versus Veronica. I mean, I'll probably vote Veronica, because Veronica, but I will be absolutely thrilled no matter who wins. COME ON, V. PULL THROUGH AND BEAT ELEVEN EVEN THOUGH I LOVE HIM MADLY.
