TV Meme FTW!
This meme (which I stole from
that_september) is so ridiculously hard. You have no idea. I mean, just narrowing down to five items in each category? Just about killed me. And I may have to come back and change things later. But it was fun, nonetheless.
Back in the Day: 5 TV Shows You Loved As A Kid
"Wishbone" (I'm convinced that most of the basis of my literary knowledge is because of that show. Wishbone FTW!)
"Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?" (I was really good at this show. It made me happy)
"Ghostwriter" (I barely remember it, but I remember loving it)
"The Andy Griffith Show" (I literally grew up on this one. I've seen so many episodes, it isn't even funny. I can quote from this show all day long)
"Due South" (Again, I remember really loving it, but I barely remember anything about it. In retrospect, I'm sure it was much smarter than I was aware of as a little kid)
We didn't have cable so I didn't watch very many shows.
Who Would You Do?: 5 TV Characters You Would...Well, It's Self-Explanatory
1. Logan Echolls (He owns my soul always and forever)
2. Dean Winchester ("It's like...looking...into...the sun...")
3. Malcolm Reynolds (He might be the perfect man)
4. Spike (cliche, I know, but for serious)
5. Adam Munroe (So he's evil. So who cares?)
What? No, No, I Don't Watch That...: 5 Guilty Pleasure TV Shows
"Best Week Ever" (I shouldn't be filling my head with pop culture this way, but the snark! Oh, the snark!)
"Supernatural" (Yes, it's so much smarter and more worthwhile than most people realize, but I still never admit to anyone that I watch it)
"Designing Women" (It is still funny. Makes me so glad to be a Southern woman. And no one can monologue like Julie Sugarbaker)
"Life with Derek" (Oh, y'all. It's so addictive. And I'm such a perv. I always rant about incest, but I want the step-siblings on this show to hook up. They have fan-freakin'-tastic chemistry, and I have a crush on Michael Seater. There's some great fic out there, too)
Uh... Any VH1 special (No Celebreality. I'd shoot myself first. What I mean by this is "I Love the 80s" or "Greatest One Hit Wonders" or something along those lines)
Wow: 5 TV Moments You Still Remember (And Probably Won't Forget)
1. The first episode of Lost. I may have abandoned this show, but it will always be the first show to capture my imagination and turn me into a fangirl.
2. All of "You're Welcome." Cordelia Chase is my hero, y'all. Also all of "Not Fade Away." The perfect series finale. Perfect.
3. Logan and Veronica's first kiss. I agree with
that_september; it's perfect.
4. The joy that was watching "Once More with Feeling" for the first time.
5. Inara crying over Mal in "Heart of Gold" (I have no idea why this one touched me so deeply, but it did. Ripped my heart out and stomped all over it)
"Tossed Salads and Scrambled Eggs": 5 TV Theme Songs You Know (and Love) By Heart
"Veronica Mars"
"Andy Griffith"
"Gilmore Girls" (Carole King is so underrated, y'all)
"Firefly" (definitely)
"Friday Night Lights" (So it's just music. It still gives me goosebumps when paired with those images)
Eh: 5 Shows You Just Can't Get Into"
"Smallville"
"The O.C."
"Moonlight"
Uh....I'll have to come back to this one.

Kennedy from Buffy (I have never wanted to kill a character like I do her)

Simone on Heroes (Did she serve any purpose at all? Really?)
Buddy Garrity from Friday Night Lights (Yes, he is a good character from a technical perspective and the show would lack something without him. No, I cannot stand seeing him on my television screen)

I know what you mean about those Vh1 specialas...I watch them too! x) Well, sometimes. And not Celebreality, either, ewwww.
1. The first episode of Lost. I may have abandoned this show, but it will always be the first show to capture my imagination and turn me into a fangirl. Oooh, that's a good one. LOST had some really powerful moments, especially first season.
5. Inara crying over Mal in "Heart of Gold" (I have no idea why this one touched me so deeply, but it did. Ripped my heart out and stomped all over it) Also a good one. I almost used that one myself--I loved EVERYTHING about that episode. AGH. Why didn't Mal and Inara ever get together??? THEY WERE MADE FOR EACH OTHER.
Simone on Heroes (Did she serve any purpose at all? Really? Wow, tell me about it. She was so annoying...and then got killed for like, no reason.
Woo for TV! I love fangirling. :D

"Heart of Gold" was a very underrated episode. I don't hear people talk about it much, but it just worked. And you are so right: Mal and Inara completely belong together.
Alan Tudyk is saying (again) that he thinks there will be a sequel. If there is, and Joss doesn't get Mal and Inara together, I'm going to be crushed.
Yeah, I really think Simone was just there to be killed off. Which I totally hate.

"Life with Derek" (Oh, y'all. It's so addictive. And I'm such a perv. I always rant about incest, but I want the step-siblings on this show to hook up. They have fan-freakin'-tastic chemistry, and I have a crush on Michael Seater. There's some great fic out there, too)
Um hello, finally someone who appreciates Michael Seater.
And that Inara scene totally breaks me every single damn time I see it. Morena is teh awesome.

Morena is teh awesome. And gorgeous. I wish she would get more work on better shows/movies. She was on some doctor show on TNT that I watched one episode of (it had the dad from Everwood and that scary-looking woman from Invasion) and she was so incredibly underused. She's far too talented for that.
Your icon is incredible.
no subject
Oh she's such a great actress, she needs a good role that shows her range. I mean, she trained at Julliard and everything. And she's just awesome.
I am so proud of finding that icon. I love it. Because that is me all over. All over

maybe.

"Moonlight"
Seriously. I watched the pilot, and it was just *awful*. I thought it'd be cancelled in two episodes. And yet: the fandom goes a'splody :P I just do not understand...so many of my demographic, hah.
This Is An Environment of Welcoming, and You Should Just Get the Hell Out Of Here: 5 TV Characters You Could Do Without
Kennedy from Buffy (I have never wanted to kill a character like I do her)
Ah frak. See, now I'm remembering this girl. Kennedy is *horrible.* And made no sense with Willow whatsoever. Xander --> Oz --> Tara -/-> Kennedy, whut? She drove me nuts. Bring on the memory bleach! ;p
Jackie from Veronica Mars. (I don't hate her, but she just sort of bothers me. The only reason I'm okay with her is because she kept Wallace onscreen)
Yeah, I don't think anyone really liked her. She was just pretty...unlikeable. And annoying. Maybe because she felt sort of forced--the Sassy Troubled Love Interest For Wallace/Character Foil For Veronica. To be honest, though, while at least Wallace showed up in s2, he was really...sort of off, characterization-wise for a lot of it. Um. That vehicular manslaughter plotline, and long-gone daddy, and meanwhile Jackie was just there the whole time making it worse :P Also, she was a trouble point with the otbff, which nobody likes.
Simone on Heroes (Did she serve any purpose at all? Really?)
Um...no, I don't think she did? lol. Her death was pretty random, too.
"I thought our love was epic, you know? Lives ruined, blood shed. Spanning centuries and continents. Epic."--Logan Echolls
See, in general, Logan annoys me because he's sort of a jerk but we're supposed to love him, and the whole LoVe fandom movement...made my brain hurt, but this quote, as just *a* quote: awesome.
Even if it always makes me think of this icon and lol.Anything that comes out of Spike's mouth in "Fool for Love" or "Lover's Walk"
Spike quotes at so many points in Buffy (especially when he was the Big Bad) = ftw.
no subject
Oh, well.
I was watching the commentary for "Chosen" the other day, and Joss said something about writing her specifically to be the "Anti-Tara." Which makes no sense. Like you touched on, think about the two people Willow was with: Oz and Tara shared a lot of qualities that made them awesome people and just right for Willow. Having her next girlfriend be the opposite of them makes no sense. If they wanted someone really different, they should have found the female equivalent of Xander or something (how weird would that be?). Gah. I HATE Kennedy.
That vehicular manslaughter plotline, and long-gone daddy, and meanwhile Jackie was just there the whole time making it worse :P You're right about that. I don't think the writers ever really knew what to do with Wallace, which is just heartbreaking, because he was one of my favorite characters and he never, never got to interact with Veronica enough in my book. I wanted them being bff-y every single episode and it just didn't happen.
Yeah, it's just such a well-written quote. I adore it.
Yeah, Spike almost always gets the best lines. There are so many incredible ones, and you're right, most of them are when he's the Big Bad. Or interacting with Angel.
no subject
No, it...really doesn't. I mean, okay, an "Anti-Tara" might have been okay if it was just the strong character and attitude--Willow became very powerful in the last season, so it could have been understandable if they went there both for Willow's character, and for a chance of pace--especially after a tragedy like Willow experienced, where she might have been trying for anything but similar-to-Tara. But they shouldn't have just jettisoned everything we knew about Willow, and what she looks for--especially considering how lovely and perfect her relationship with Tara *was*. It just...didn't work. And then Kennedy was just horrible, all on her own, so she just added insult to injury.
