If you were asked to pick one scene, one shot, one detail, one moment of some kind out of all the things I've written and say "This, this, for whatever reason, I remember, this is something that struck home with me, that I wanted to keep," what would it be?

But seriously, that moment meant a lot to me, so I'm really, really glad it rang true for you. And yes, that's the one where the character got away from me and took over the Spuffy, honestly, but I think it needed to be that way because poor Chao-Ahn was so underdeveloped and always used as a punch line on the show and I wanted her to be more.

And now that I've said that, I can think of a couple more:
* The line in III about how Spike and Buffy have agreed not hit each other anymore, even though they're superpowered and they could without permanent damage.
* Buffy's line (in Basiare? in that unfinished babyfic I keep referencing?) that she has trouble saying important things because "I feel like the words are too big to fit in my mouth." Both the phrasing and the sentiment have really stuck with me.
* I've said this before, but: the line in Basiare about Buffy's mission to Cleveland really just being an excuse to hang out with Faith. Because the thought of them hanging out and being BFF just makes me so happy.
* Life in the Present Tense, about Spike's soul/past weighing more heavily than anyone realizes, and the image of him falling to the ground in some alleyway, grieving over something he remembers happening there.
* Life in the Present Tense, that first section where Dawn goes into Buffy's bedroom, plops between her and Spike, and says, "Time to pay attention to me now."
