Choco_cherries: Live Wire
Title: Live Wire
Author: Lirazel (
Fandoms: Heroes/Veronica Mars
Pairing: Elle Bishop/Logan Echolls
Word Count: 253
Prompt: Cold
Rating: PG
Summary: After a while, he stops trying to see someone else when he looks at her (she hopeswishespretends).
Thing is, he’s always going to be looking over his shoulder for a different girl; she’s never going to be able to give him what he needs. She tells herself that that doesn’t really matter—it’s all in fun. But she knows (so does he).
When he isn’t snarking or drinking or screwing, he’s brooding.
“What’s wrong?” she asks, and maybe it’s the first time she’s ever really cared enough to ask that question (it scares her that she actually means it).
She smiles, slowly, lets the electricity dance at her fingertips. “I can fix that.”

I just adored this. Adored this.
I love that you have this way of mirroring, of contrasting the two characters. It's like a thing of yours, I noticed it a lot in your Micah/Molly fic I'm stilltrying to get over. It doesn't ever feel forced, just natural reflections on the two of them as both a unit and seperate people. It shows their differences and their similarities all at the same time.
I love your use of the prompt, the way it just slides itself in there, all perfect and normal and significant in that it's usually not. She asks the question and cares about his answer and that's a big step.
My favourite line though, has to be this:
(even if there’s a wrongness lurking everywhere, in every word, every touch, and mostly in the silences they can’t avoid),
Oh just broke my heart because she knows, perhaps not fully, about Veronica. She knows that there is an edge of wrong to what they're doing. And she can feel it and so can he; when they do it's unavoidable and silent. Just love for that idea.

I hadn't really thought about it, but I do think I have a tendency to do the mirroring thing. It's a lot of fun, and I'm really glad you don't think it feels forced.
all perfect and normal and significant in that it's usually not. She asks the question and cares about his answer and that's a big step. Glad that that worked for you. That is what I was going for.
And yes, I can't imagine Elle not picking up on something that would let her know about Veronica. I know he would never tell her, but she would know that there was some other girl and that she looked like her. It just has to be that way.
