Several requests for help
1. For the past year or so, I've been toying with the idea of watching Gen 2 of Skins. I thought Effy was really interesting (though her relationship with Tony was by far the best thing about her), but I've heard that Gen 2 was basically a hot mess. So--your thoughts. Worth it or no? Also, do we know anything about Gen 3?
2. I've started working (again) on my gender-swap cast of Veronica Mars. Some of the casting was quite easy (Veronica, Wallace, Kendall), but there are a few people I'm having trouble with.
Cassidy
Mac
Jackie
Vinnie
Hannah
Trina
The last three are not at all necessary, but I want to include them if I find someone fun. I'm also wanting to stick close to their real ages, so no 26-year-olds if possible, kay? And I'm sticking with the first two seasons, because I don't actually watch the third season.
For the Echollses, I just considered swapping--letting Harry Hamlin play Lynn's character and Lisa Rinna play Aaron's, because half the fun of them in those roles is that they're married in real life. But now I am unsure.
I am also torn on my Logan choice. Half the time I think she's glorious, the other half, I think I need to find something new. It's hard to find talented youngish people! Same with Leo and Meg.
Feel free to make any suggestions about any character, but I am quite content with a lot of my choices.
3. Who would want to help me make a pretty picspam for this (silly) project? Because I don't own photoshop or anything like that, and I don't know how y'all do the pretty stuff. It is beyond me, and I am in awe of your powers.
4. Firefox has decided it hates me. It keeps freezing for a few seconds, then unfreezing for a minute or two, then freezing again. It makes it very hard to do anything, especially download things. Anyone got any advice?
And now I need to go find something to eat and then beta some stuff for people.

Firefox is such a bitch sometimes.

It really is.

TBH, I don't know any of the young faces nowadays. Nope.
ETA: Also, I see no Weevil anywhere on that list...?
no subject
I didn't mention Weevil or Keith or Duncan or whoever because I've already cast them!

WHAT WHAT I LOVE YOU.

I AM SO EXCITED! IT'S GONNA BE EPIC! IN THE LOGAN KIND OF WAY!

...Jonathan Groff as boy!Trina. Probably typecasting after Glee, but I love seeing good actors play horrible actors.

Ahhhh, now I'm excited for the unveiling of your girl!Logan!

Firefox is annoying sometimes. :( Unfortunately, I am not tech-savvy, but I hope the problem fixes itself.
no subject
It really, really is. And I'm hoping if I ignore it long enough, the problem will go away?
WE ARE SO CLOSE TO DEATHLY HOLLOWS BEING RELEASED. HOW CAN WE CONTAIN OUR EXCITEMENT?
no subject
AND OMG OMG I KNOW. I just...ahhh. A MONTH! I really, really cannot wait. I will be in line for the midnight premiere, dressed-up like Hermione, rarin' to go. I have high hopes for these movies, mostly because if they are bothering to separate them into two parts, they better be good. What's your plan for the premiere?
no subject
MIDNIGHT! If I possibly can (and I may well be able to) I will be there then, too! If not, FIRST THING AFTER WORK. Being an adult with actual responsibilities stinks. But we'll see--I might be able to do it.
I love the idea of you dressed like Hermione!
I have to admit there's one thing I'm worried about. I adore Rupert Grint--he's the world's biggest cutie-pie!--but I'm worried about whether he'll be able to do the emotional heavy-lifting the role's going to require this time around. Like, the scene where he destroys the locket. EASILY one of my faves of the series. And I'm gonna be heartbroken if it doesn't measure up to my expectations. I'm very much hoping he'll surprise me and be excellent.
no subject
Haha, I hope you don't have to work! Screw responsibilities.
I'm such a nerd. I'm trying to put together a Hermione costume for Halloween, specifically because I wanted to be her for the premiere. I can't wait.
I totally know what you mean about Rupert being able to pull off the horcrux scene, but I think he can handle it. I remember him in Driving Lessons, and he had some emotional stuff there, too. He really did a good job, though the locket scene is a little more intense. The Silver Doe is like my favorite chapter in DH, except for the one about Snape's memories, which I also hope they do justice.
no subject
It's definitely my favorite chapter as well. I feel like something's wrong with me--I have zero investment in Snape. But everyone I know loves him. What is my deal?
no subject
Because any which way--I want to come down hard in favor of including Vinnie Van Lowe. He's one of my favorite people. And if he's gender swapped, what about Jane Lynch playing him? OR what about fellow The State cast member, Kerri Kenny?
Also, about your Firefox woes--I switched to Google Chrome because Firefox kept crashing on me. It's been pretty good so far. But it didn't import my bookmarks correctly, so I had to manually go through and re-add a bunch of bookmarks. That was a pain.
no subject
I adore Vinnie. And Jane is AWESOME in pretty much every role! I will consider that! I don't know Kerri Kenny, but I will look into her.
I think I'm gonna give Chrome a try soon. Thanks for the advice!
no subject
Did you ever watch Reno 911? Because Kerri Kenny played Trudy Weigel. She's SO funny. And she even looks like Vinnie a little bit.
I have a weirdish suggestion: What about Kat Dennings as Logan? I know--it seems weird, but hear me out. She's moody and brooding just like him. She talks in that mumbly way without moving her mouth too much just like Jason Dohring does. And it always seems like she's a stew of sarcasm and emotions--just like him. But she has downsides too--she looks like an outsider, not a popular golden-boy type. So... maybe not. And the coloration and body type don't quite match well.
Who else? Let's see. What about Dakota Fanning as Cassidy? Too sweet? That girl has range--I think she could work Cassidy.
Mac seems like she should be easy--some cute emo dork boy. But I'll be darned. I can't think of anyone. She needs a Michael Cera, but cuter and with dark hair and glasses and sarcasm that's a little less deadpan. I'm tempted to say Dimitri Martin. But... I don't think that fits quite right. I don't know. I'll have to think this over.
no subject
I have never seen that show, but I will watch an episode to see if she works as Vinnie! Yay!
I like Kat Dennings, but for some reason she feels a little too old to be Logan? I will think on it. And as funny as I think Dimitri Martin is ("Hello...ladies"), I think he's too old to.
The age thing is really tripping me up because I don't know so many of the younger kids. I'm tempted to start casting from the Disney Channel, but Selena Gomez is the only one over there that I really adore. *sigh*
no subject
That age-stuff is tricky. I was trying to think of indie-ish kids at the cusp of high school and college, so I was looking at stuff like Juno, Whip It, and whatnot. But I can totally see how that would end up too old. I just have no idea who is high school age these days. The Disney kids always manage to creep me out (though I do love Selena Gomez--she does those cute Borden commercials).
no subject
It is very tricky. Selena Gomez is my girlcrush--I watch Wizards of Waverly Place just for her.
no subject
Have you ever seen Drop Dead Gorgeous? Allison Janey is like perfection in that movie. The whole movie is hilarious--but she is SO great. Ellen Barkin is really great in it too.
no subject
I haven't! But I must watch it now!

Does the age really have to limit choices down to the Disney channel? Kristen Bell was 25 playing 16. Jason Dohring and Percy Daggs were 22 when the show started. Francis Capra was 21. Tina Majorino (Mac) was the youngest at 19 playing 16.
Or maybe there's fewer well-known early twenties folks? Hmm.

I'm so bad with actors' names. And seem to be mentally casting primarily Glee people in my head. This isn't too good, is it?
Stockard Channing as Keith! That's not Glee-related, and I can see her doing Keith's sense of humor . . . is she too old, though? Are we going to be like typical Hollywood and say an actress is too old?

no subject
See?
But actually, another show the actress is in has a kid who might work . . . look up the actor who plays the oldest son on Big Love . . . maybe some Mac-ish possibilities.
And I would have to know who you're thinking of for chick!Logan if I were to help you. Ooh, for Leo, what about Lea Michele? Kinda similar look, and she'd be acting her age, wouldn't she?
And I support Jane Lynch in anything, even theoretical gender-bending recasting of canceled television shows, so if you set her to play Vinnie, I will second that choice.
I'm now really curious who you've thought about for Logan, because Katee Sackhoff as Kar Thrace is the only female character who has ever come close to being a "resident psychotic jackass," and when a girl does it, i mean it in the best sense of the phrase. Why am I having flashes of Glee's what's-her-face, Quinn Fabray in that role? Does "female!resident psychotic jackass" automatically translate to fabulous bitch in my mind?
no subject
I will look him up! I've never watched Big Love.
I will pm you about chick!Logan. I actually really like the idea of Lea Michele! I will think on it!
JANE LYNCH IS AWESOME.
I actually have Quinn in another role!

Gender swapping! ♥ I am completely stumped for those people too. I love the idea of Michelle T. as Cassidy though. And am curious cat about your female Logan. AM EXCITE.
