I do understand your feelings! Because I hate all of those things, too! Not like you do, obviously, but there is so much fail in that scene. So much fail. For all the reasons you mentioned.

The curse isn't keeping them apart, THE FACT THAT THEY MOVED ON WITH THEIR LIVES AND FELL IN LOVE WITH OTHER PEOPLE AND GREW UP AND APART FOR THE BETTER IS KEEPING THEM APART.

I KNOW! Seriously, you do not want to get near Whedon fandom because if you criticize something, people just blame it on the fact that you're a shipper. I can't tell you how many times really, really smart and insightful comments have been totally dismissed because people think it's about shipper wars. UM NO. IT'S ABOUT THE SHOW.

Re: Angel's characterization: most of the negative things I say about him should be followed with "...when he's around Buffy." Because I seriously think that being around her brings out all the bad sides of him. Everything about him is better when he's not around her. And honestly, I haven't read that in so long that I don't remember what I said! But I do know that my feelings change all the time, so who knows if I even believe in them anymore!

CONNOR. actually. can't even. what kills me the most is that ats' canon is SO TIGHT. even the things i hate about it are well explained or logically fanwanked into submission. and then btvs comes along, or rather angel goes to btvs, and it messes it all up.

oh, well - angel around buffy isn't angel. he disappears around her. this is part of the reason why i find them fascinating, and if end of days hadn't happened, i actually would have little to no qualms with them as a ship because they're too fucked up and and too fascinating for something as simple as hatred.

what kills me is that sanctuary/the yoko factor are PERFECT. SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE END OF IT. sanctuary: angel shuts buffy down; the yoko factor: peace is made, moving on space is created.

This is why, in public discussions, I will only admit to shipping Dawn/Andrew, Gwen/Gunn, and Willow/Kennedy. (And, apparently, Vi/Pike. What is up with that? *weirds self out*) It makes things fun...

*whispers* One of the standalone novels had me shipping Buffy/Pike. Not valleygirl!Buffy/Pike but SMG!Buffy/Pike. And that was back when I was a major Bangel shipper.
