I'm waiting....

Replies to my last few posts are forthcoming (I've loved all of y'all's thoughts!), but first:

I am disappointed in y'all! No one on my flist has posted about the new Season 8 preview? I need y'all's thoughts! Your fury or excitement! Where's the drama?

Come on. With the way y'all are not talking, you'd think you had actual lives or something.

But eh, it's open to interpretation.
I think that's the distinction. I liked AtF overall, but will happily concede that some things could have been done differently or better. (I, too, would have liked Fred to actually be there, because I think that would have made for a much more interesting story.) However, everyone was in character and the story was a logical continuation of NFA. My problems with s8 aren't the story, it's the fact that nothing makes *sense*.

Yeah I mean, on some level I will never be satisfied with a post-NFA story because I think the brilliance of NFA is in its refusal to give any firm answers. So anything that tries to 'answer' NFA is doomed to fail on some level, and that is part of why I have never managed to finish a post-NFA fic.

But AtF at least remains pretty in-character and is respectful of the characters? And the plot is sensible except for when Illyria regains her true form, and that isn't until the end so at least the beginning is great.

S8 is just a mess from the word go.

Oh the same here! But I thought AtF was on the whole a nice, solid story - like really shiny fanfic with pictures - and I like post-NFA fic.

Totally with you on s8! And people keep saying 'Oh but it's going to make sense in the end!' which just makes me laugh. (The only thing that bothers me about the preview is the dog - it should totally have been a talking pie!)

I like post-NFA stuff I am just impossible to please. At least I know it, haha.

It will never make sense and people need to just let it go. It's not actually a 'season eight', you can't just jump mediums like that and retain text integrity. It's expanded universe material at -best-, a la Star Wars.
