Meme time
I'm having one of those nights where I can't concentrate on anything and nothing holds my interest and basically I'm just twiddling my thumbs waiting till it's late enough so that I can reasonably go to sleep (side effect of depression? I'm going with yes, since this literally never happened to me before I hit this place).
Since there has been much discussion of A) the definition of OTP and B) Cordy/Angel on my flist of late, both of which I've enjoyed tremendously, let's do this one, okay?

GUNNNNNN. my favorite. i think if i re-did my top ten characters of the decade picspam right now, the characters of ats would take up half the spots. as it is, lilah's the only one on there but she IS number four. fyfiercebitch. i love that guy, dudette. i love him. he's somehow so there even when he rarely gets the main storylines (joss, racefail, repeat), and i blame j. for this entirely, being able to take up so much presence with so few things to say. i love him i love him, and while i hate s5 for jacking his character, there is some part of me that loves what they COULD have done with it, all that conflict and desire to be better and be more than the muscle, which by the way, re-watching s2-3, they REALLY refer to gunn as 'the muscle' all the fucking time and it's really really not okay. and i love what s5 could have done with him, what they mentioned when fred died because the entire fucking world had to mourn fred when no one could find the time to mourn cordelia. fuck that noise. anyway. gunn was a wonderful character who could have shown forever if they gave him the spotlight. the only thing he did in s5 was get fred killed. i hate this show.
wes/fred ew is, you will find, generally my only reaction to wes/fred, because, well, ew. sometimes i'm tempted to get someone to explain it to me because it literally makes no fucking sense before you even get to how it assassinated both characters involved, but i don't know if i could sit through it and i don't know, honestly, if anyone would have a reason. "I JUST SHIPPED IT~~" shut up. i want facts, information, data, emotional contact. i want wes to look at fred with a tenth the amount of joy with which gunn looks at fred.
DO YOU SEE THIS COMMENT. i think i'm going to make another btvs/ats flail post with my comments i've made on the subject in the last two days because AS IT TURNS OUT I HAVE THINGS TO SAY. and i don't think anyone i know ships wes/fred? or maybe they never mentioned it. fuck that noise. there was a picspam of them on tumblr the other day and i just looked at it and went "... i still don't get it." even in the moments i'm not mad about it, i just don't get it. not like how i was saying i don't get spuffy, because spuffy is logical to me, when i say i don't get it i mean my emotions don't match up with it, but i understand it even if i don't ship it, it makes sense, there's a reasoning behind it, and it didn't, you know, assassinate characters. there was ACTUAL CANONICAL BUILDUP AND EMOTION THERE. wes/fred? WHAT IS IT DOING HERE? WHY DOES IT EXIST? WHAT IS YOUR EVIDENCE?
