I know! If it hadn't gotten renewed at the end of last season, I would have been disappointed but okay. But now we've had "Epitaph One"! We've had Amy Acker being awesome! We have all these amazing guest stars! We have the promise of lots of Victor/Sierra to come! We have the Rossum stuff getting more conspiracy-y!
Why doesn't anyone want T.V. that makes them think? I actually think that the show already lost most of the thinking audience. Last season, all of the feminist bloggers/TV watchers that I really respect stopped watching the show because the nature of it combined with the way it was advertised turned them off to it. I wrote about it here. I think we need to work on getting those people on board again, on saying, "Yeah, the show is creepy beyond all reason, but that's the point.
But yeah, you're absolutely right: the vast majority of TV audiences out there just want to turn their brains off when they watch TV. And I can't entirely blame them, because some of the people I know who have jobs in which they have to thinkthinkthink all day long and deal with ugly truths about life just want to come home and either watch mindless entertainment or watch an episode that's solved in an hour (procedurals). Which is okay.
I just wish there were more people who like to think about their TV.
Ha! Sorry--I just realized how long and rambly this is! You'll have to forgive me!
