Dear Just Married Author

Hello! This is my first experience with this exchange and I'm very excited to be participating! I hope I've done everything right and given you some latitude in what you write. I'm sure I'll love the result!

I've got a bunch of different pairings/OT3s with different preferences for each. The one thing that I most want for all of them is that the requested pairing/OT3 fall in love by the end of the story (if they aren't in love already) and a reasonably happy ending. By "reasonably" happy, I mean, things can be kind of dark, but they're together and that's what matters.

The first most important DNW is: infidelity. I am just not here for that.

I'm totally fine with people having pasts in which they loved/were with/were married to other people but by the time the characters get together, I want them both to be single. Or, in the case of an OT3 where two thirds of the characters are married to each other, they both need to be enthusiastic about inviting a third member into the relationship.

The one exception to this is the OW Ace Lady Bluestocking/Gay Male Aristocrat, where it is totally fine for Gay Male Aristocrat to have as many male lovers as he likes, since this is a lavender marriage and by definition an open one.

Some other DNWS:

+ PWP. Porn is fine, I just don't want the porn to be the focus. And porn is in no way necessary--you can write the most rated G fic ever if you like. I love all ratings equally.
+ Instalove/love at first sight. As an ace person, it's super important to me that characters actually know each other before they fall in love.
+ Modern AUs of historical/fantasy fandoms. Canon divergence/what ifs are amazing, though, and if you want to twist the setting a little bit (giving Winter magical powers or have Dasey dealing with the apocalypse or something), go for it. I just do not want to read about any of these historical/fantasy characters working in a coffee shop.
+ Major character deaths (unless someone comes back to life à la Wei Wuxian)
+ Character bashing
+ Unmitigated fluff (some fluff is fine! But I'd like some deeper feelings to dig into.)
+ Onscreen noncon
+ Focus on babies/children (exception: Seraphina)
+ Watersports/scat/rimming
+ BDSM outside the bedroom

General likes: angst, especially if it ends happily; getting together; hurt/comfort; mutual pining; in character characters; complicated relationships between women; good worldbuilding; longfic; outsider povs; location/setting as character; political intrigue; forced proximity; good people trying to do the right thing; bad people trying to do the right thing; found families; siblings; porn with feelings; character A having to rescue/defend character B; total devotion/us against the world dynamics. I also love the other characters in these canons, so bringing them into the fic in large supporting roles is great!

Now onto the requests.

Hodel/Perchik and/or Motel Kamzoil/Tzeitel
Arranged Marriage - Avoiding It by Marrying Someone Else
Elopement - Eloping After Wide Disapproval of Relationship
Established Marriage - Falling Deeply In Like With Spouse
Established Marriage - Making It Work But Work Is The Word For It
Honeymoon - Sexual Exploration For Couple Who Had Little/No Opportunity For Sex Before Marriage
Wedding - Running Away with Your Lover on the Day of Your Wedding to a Third Party

I chose some freeform tags that I thought might work well for these couples, but here's my permission to go in a different direction if you want. I don't really care about focusing on the wedding ceremony (since we see it for Motel/Tzietel) but other than that, I'm open to lots of things, including fantasy AUs with soulmarks or something like that. The "Making it work" one mostly applies to Hodel/Perchik in a scenario where they have to adjust to marriage while in a gulag.

I have a preference for Hodel/Perchik but I would also be happy with Motel/Tzeitel if you'd rather write that. OR BOTH. Incorporating both would be awesome.

With Hodel/Perchik, I feel like they don't know each other super well, so anything about their marriage would need to involve them getting to know each other further. The proposal scene in the film is my favorite proposal scene from any form of media ever, so that should give you some idea of what I'm into with this dynamic. I mean, it's got to be so frustrating being in love with this guy who can only see anything through the lens of class struggle, but also Hodel clearly loves how idealistic and committed Perchik is. And I believe he would never have fallen for her (certainly not enough to ask her to marry him) if she wasn't as smart as he was and at least open to his political priorities. So I want to watch two revolutionaries (or, really, a revolutionary and a potential revolutionary) fall in love with both their brains and their hearts.

It's fine to go with canon and write about them together in Siberia or to do a canon divergence where something else happens--they go to America or Kiev or Vienna or wherever together after the pogrom, the pogrom never happens, etc. Anything where they work together for revolutionary causes would also be awesome. I love the idea of Hodel becoming just as much of a committed revolutionary as Perchik.

A canon divergence where they haven't gotten together yet, but Hodel is supposed to marry someone else but chooses Perchik instead is fine. Or a canon divergence in which Yenta chooses someone for Hodel, Hodel is horrified, and Perchik is like, "Well, you could marry me instead?"

With Motel/Tzeitel, I get the impression that the two of them have been so close for so long that it never occurred to them that they wouldn't spend their lives together. And then they reach the age where people start talking about matches and they're like, "Wait, what if we get matched with someone else???" And that's when they start thinking about the fact that they have to work to get married. A further exploration of them working through their feelings for each other and planning how to get permission to marry would be great.

If you want to do a canon divergence where Tevye doesn't agree to the marriage--or it takes much longer to convince him, that's cool. But if they elope, I'd prefer it if they don't remain estranged from family. Like, the family comes around to it in the end.

Seraphina Dombegh/Princess Glisselda/Lucian Kiggs
Established Marriage - Decide to Have a Baby Together
Established Marriage - Discovering Pregnancy
Established Marriage - Married Couple Both Pine for the Same Third Person
Poly Marriage - Figuring Out New Routine/Moving Into Each Others Space

Can you believe we actually got this OT3 in canon? I mean, we didn't get to see it, but it happened! Anyway, I would love to see any fic about how this triad actually works in practice--especially since we know there's at least one baby that enters the equation eventually. How secretive do they have to be? Or is it an open secret and everyone just pretends they don't know? Do they all share rooms? What are the logistics? What do their children know and how do they all parent together?

I am open to either Seraphina having two partners who both love her and are fine with sharing her OR all three of them being totally in love with each other. If it's canon, then Lucian/Glisselda are married and Seraphina is not, but I'm fine with an AU with any combination of them being married so long as everyone knows what's going on and is happily consenting.

Winter de Ballesteros/Alex Randall
Established Marriage - Dealing With In-Law(s)
Established Marriage - Falling Deeply In Like With Spouse
Established Marriage - Rescuing One's Spouse From Danger
Marriage of Convenience - To Avoid Marriage to Someone Else
Marriage of Convenience - Marrying to protect someone from danger

This one is SUCH a longshot, but I can't resist requesting. Obviously Winter is married for a significant portion of the book so I don't want her actively cheating with Alex, but feel free to kill off Conway sooner or write a canon divergence where they never marry or write post-canon fic, whatever. I just don't want Winter/Alex acting on their love until she's safely widowed.

This fic could, if you wish, be entirely canon-compliant and just explore more fully what actually happens in canon (where Alex marries Winter to protect her, then doesn't have sex with her for fear of getting her pregnant, but SURPRISE! she's already pregnant from that one moment they had together a while back).

It's pretty canon that Winter is just head-over-heels in love with Alex, but he's so busy, like, trying to save lives that he doesn't have as much time to develop feelings. A fic about him realizing that, actually, his wife is fantastic and he loves her would be great. Or a post-canon fic where they run into danger and he has to save her (or she helps with saving herself!) is great.

I included the dealing with in-laws option because I think the two of them having to deal with her mom's family back in England would be interesting. I'd also love something where Winter arrives in India, realizes that Conway is the actual worst, and Alex offers to marry her instead.

Magic - Marriage To Stop Plague
Marriage Laws - Marriage Contract Negotiations
Political Marriage - Strengths Balance Each Other Unexpectedly Well

Wedding Planning - Clash Of Customs/Culture Around Wedding/Marriage
Wedding Planning - Conversion Required for Marriage
Wedding Planning - Discussing How to Handle/Blend Spouses' Different Traditions

I'll be honest: what I want from this fandom is absolutely anything about the Staryk Lord converting to Judaism. Give me his bris. Give me Miryem explaining her faith to him. Give me their wedding under a chuppah. Give me working out the details of the ketubah. Anything. I just want this supernatural creepy ice lord to take his wife's faith.

It could be really interesting to play up the cultural differences and incorporate both of their cultures' traditions into one wedding. Any culture clash stuff would be fun, an AU where they have to marry each other for other reasons would be fun, just...I want all the Judaism.

No, I'm not blushing at all as I request a stepsibling pairing from an early 2000s Canadian children's sitcom, why do you ask?

Please no AU where they were never stepsiblings. What's really important to me with these two is their canon arc: forced together, hating each other, becoming ride-or-die for each other while furiously insisting they still hate each other. The way they can absolutely depend on each other despite keeping up the fiction that the other is awful. The fic can be set post-this dynamic where they're together, but I want them to have gone through all that stuff (or currently be going through it).

Please, please, please feel free to ignore Vacation with Derek.

I've read fic where Derek/Casey get together and it ends with estrangement from their furious family. I've read fic where their family all basically knew all along that they were in love and take it in stride. Either (or some complicated in between) is fine with me so long as you try to keep all the characters in character.

Ace Bluestocking Lady & Gay Male Aristocrat
Marriage of Convenience - Lavender Marriage
Marriage of Convenience - Queerplatonic Partners Get Married
Marriage of Convenience - To Avoid Otherwise-Likely Marriage To Unbearable Third Party
Second Marriage - Marrying the Person Who Helped You Kill Your First Spouse

What it says on the tin: an asexual lady who doesn't want to deal with the expectations of marriage/children and just wants to focus on her interests (either her studies in any subject or the suffrage movement/abolition/social justice causes). A wealthy gay man who needs a wife so that everyone will overlook his sexual orientation. They realize they can help each other out. Lavender marriage ensues.

I'd lovelovelove if they become friends/best friends/each other's most important person. GMA can be a rake and have lots of lovers or have one specific love he's always been committed to, whatever. Just so long as the marriage is happy and safe for them both and the focus is on their relationship, I'm happy!

For a darker take, maybe Ace Lady was already bullied into getting married and is in an abusive situation and GMA helps her kill the husband and then marries her to keep her safe.

The way I've phrased this tag implies an Anglophone Regency/Victorian/Edwardian setting, but that's not compulsory. If you want to put these "types" in ancient Egypt or medieval China or something, that's fine. But I do want it to be historically based, please--set pre-1950s. The whole point is that these two people find a way to satisfy societal demands/expectations while remaining true to themselves. That just doesn't hit the same in a more contemporary setting.

Attolia | Irene/Eugenides

Arranged Marriage - Arranged as a Trick for the Purpose of Assassination
Arranged Marriage - Arranged as a Means of Keeping Enemy Under Control
Arranged Marriage - Mutual Pining
Arranged Marriage - Slowly Falling in Love with Spouse
Established Marriage - Dealing With In-Law(s)
Historical - Court Reaction to Unexpected Marriage
Political Marriage - They Try to Kill Each Other Until They Fall in Love
Political Marriage - Strengths Balance Each Other Unexpectedly Well
Wedding Ceremony - Interrupted By An Assassination Attempt; Continue After They Take Care Of Them
Wedding Night - Planned Assassination Gone Wrong

or Attolia | Irene/Eugenides/Costis Ormentiedes
Established Marriage - Married Couple Both Pine for the Same Third Person

or Kamet/Costis Ormentiedes
Arranged Marriage - Arranged as a Trick for the Purpose of Assassination
Established Marriage - Mistaken as Sexual Slavery by Outsider
Marriage of Convenience - Both Agree for Both Practical Reasons and Love; Neither Believe This
Marriage of Convenience - Marriage For Protection
Marriage of Convenience - Marrying to Save a Life
Marriage of Convenience - Slowly Falling in Love with Spouse
Marriage of Convenience - To Avoid Marriage to Someone Else
Soul Bond - Marriage Arranged Because Of Matching Soulmarks

Any of the Gen/Irene scenarios can incorporate Costis as desired, but I'd prefer that Costis is never officially married to either of them. If you go the OT3 route, I want Gen/Irene married and then Costis incorporated into that relationship in a true OT3 where all of them love each other.

For Gen/Irene, most of the tropes I requested would work best in an AU, but there are a few that could easily slide into canon. The in-laws request is mostly because I think it would be hilarious to see them dealing with all of Gen's thousands of cousins. The court reactions and contract negotiations could be canon as well, if you prefer that route.

I like the idea of Kamet and Costis having a marriage of convenience because I think it fits their dynamic. Costis is so honorable that he'd absolutely marry someone he barely knows to save them for whatever reason, and Kamet is practical enough to see the possibilities in the same.
