So. Replies and such forthcoming, but first...

A day or so ago, I finished up with S2 of Mad Men--a rambly post is no doubt going to pop up at some point: OMG BEST SHOW EVER!--and I'm now catching up with S3 and all is joy and rapture.

Except that I kind of want a .gif of Betty Draper SHOOTING THE PIGEONS (I can't imagine a more perfect scene) for my journal. More technologically savvy friends of mine, does anyone know how I would go about finding such a thing? I don't even know where to look. Thanks in advance to anyone who has an idea!

Also: I don't care what the damn show is called, it's all about the women.

I've only watched the first few eps of Mad Men, but I must get back on it! People keep saying it's awesome and I trust y'all's judgment.

Oh, you mean how it happens all the time? I do this thing where I get behind. Or I might disappear off the internet entirely for a while. And then I have to catch back up and it seems so overwhelming! And then I do it all in one sitting! I'm horrible at lj, really. But I'm glad I can make you giggle!

It really is so impressive. For one thing, it's fabulous to look at, with all the attention to 60s detail. But it also completely deconstructs that era by embracing it, which is a real accomplishment. Plus, fabulous, fabulous characters and one of the greatest casts I've ever seen. I watched the first ep and wasn't all that into it, but if you watch a couple in a row, I swear you'll get sucked in (quite like Buffy, actually).

No, that's great! I kind of hate Pete a lot...but he's so compelling! He's this horrible, sniveling, selfish kind of guy, but every once in a while he'll do or say something so vulnerable. The creation of that character is worthy of praise.

Ah, well, yes, that's what I meant ;) I don't think anybody could really say they *like* Pete Campbell as a person. But as a fictional character? Gold. I am probably a little more sympathetic to Pete than most though I don't expect much from him. And VK completely sells it. I wouldn't trust that character with anybody else.

The entire show is just so well-cast, but Pete in particular would be utterly impossible without VK. I literally can't imagine anyone else playing that part, and I don't say that often.
