ugh!

I have NO IDEA how I'm going to narrow down my Yuletide requests this year and settle on the limited number of fandoms (is it 3 this year again?). There are so many new things that I fell in love with! I'm agonizing over it as we speak! HOW TO CHOOOOOOSE?

I have yet to figure out how Yuletide even works ;). But hey, maybe if nothing helps, you can roll a dice?

Everybody writes for small fandoms for everybody else! Essentially.

But hey, maybe if nothing helps, you can roll a dice?

Ha! True!

Yeah, I tried to read the rules yesterday, but I still didn't figure out how nominations work XD. Not like I have any small fandoms I'd want to write, so I didn't really have motivation to focus and figure things out ;).

Basically, you suggest small fandoms that don't have much fic and if enough people offer to read/write them, then you can request them when the time comes.

I wish I didn't have a zillion small fandoms!

I've nominated this year! It was fun and very stressful, aye. I made lists by medium and chose my favourite from each - so I chose one book, one webcomic and one film! Maybe you could have, like, one quirky British miniseries, one kdrama, one RPF ship?

[identity profile] penny-lane-42.livejournal.com 2012-09-25 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a good way of choosing! I might have to try that!

Man, if I'd realized you needed nominating slots, I'd totally have nominated things for you. I went ahead and nominated my choices yesterday, in hopes the existence of the nominations would somehow result in fic. (I've decided I'm not participating myself this year. Too much else going on.)

[identity profile] penny-lane-42.livejournal.com 2012-09-26 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, it's okay--it's no use nominating stuff I won't be able to request anyway, and it's good for me to practice my decision-making since I'm so bad at it. ;D

I can understand why you're not signing up. You've made a lot of fic commitments this year, haven't you?

COFFEE PRINCE.

Um, yes. Yes, I have. Lauren, I have been SO PRODUCTIVE this year. If I keep going as I have been, I'll break 100k by the end of the year, no problem, which makes it easily the best writing year I've ever had. And I haven't even been trying. It's just happened.

I only have three more actual commitments before the end of the year, though: the reversebang, the a/b/o ladies fic, and the Faith/Giles for [livejournal.com profile] letsgetitdone. Still. That's enough, I think. :)

[identity profile] penny-lane-42.livejournal.com 2012-09-26 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
That's on my possibilities list! I don't know whether I'll request or not, but I might!

You have been so productive! You should be really proud! It's fantastic! Yay you!

And I haven't even been trying. It's just happened.

This is exactly how I am with the insane amount I've been writing, too! I wonder what happened to us?

That's definitely enough, and all so exciting! I just have Yuletide and the Infinite fandom exchange, myself. I don't know that I'd be able to take on another, so I definitely don't blame you for not doing Yuletide this time around. And hey--you still get to read all the lovely fics written for other people, so you still benefit. Good luck with your writing!

I just narrowed my own down and submitted. I wish I had another 2 AO3 accounts so I could do all my loves justice! *Someone* has to nominate Ready Player One and Breaking Amish, right? Right?? Not to mention Moon, and True Grit and The Fantastic Mr. Fox...

I really need to move on. And to stop worrying about my 2 not-yet-reviewed submissions being rejected.

Just have to keep reminding myself that my favourite day of Yuletide is the day when I get to pick what I want to offer.

So, so hard! And then you have to cross your fingers and hope other people have the same taste as you!

Good point! I will remember this!

I had to let others decide for me: went over to the noms discussion with 1) forlorn hope am definitely nominating; 2) possible second nom I've requested twice with no joy and 3) ahahah these half dozen others which I also want to request and offer. Someone else nominated Wolf Hall, so I'm doing The Liar, cos at least then someone else is happy. And even that list omits about five others I'm keen to offer. Why is it so haaaard?
