a conversation from yesterday

Little sister (who is 23 as of Saturday): Lauren! I saw a wolf in our yard!
Me (eyes rolling): Oh my goodness, you did not see a--
Her: It wasn't a dog! I know it wasn't a dog!
Me: You are so ridiculous. You didn't see a wolf, you saw a coyote.
Her (abashed): Oh. Well, I saw a coyote.
Me: A wolf? Seriously? There haven't been any wolves around here for a hundred years!
Her (defensively): Well, it was freaky-looking!

Sometimes I just shake my head at the conversations we have.

Awwww, thank you! I had first introductory meetings today, and I'm considering taking a Welsh class O_o.

WOW. Welsh would be pretty challenging, I bet!

Are wolves not prominent where you're from? :p

The relationship you have with your sister sounds adorable. Lol my relationship with my sister is not all that great so it's awesome to see other people have awesome relationships with theirs! :)

There used to be wolves all over this area, but there haven't been any for many, many years. They kind we have (the red wolf) is actually almost extinct. So there's no way a wolf would be in this area unless it escaped from the zoo.

I love her to pieces. We fight quite a bit because we're veeeeeery different, but she's the most important person in my life. I hope you and your sister can grow closer!

Speaking of animals that we have or don't have or didn't know we had (like armadillos), I had no idea we had wild hogs here. But the son of my mom's friend (he's a big hunter) set up a camera in his yard (which is in the middle of nowhere) to see what comes around at night, and he captured a 300 lb wild hog.

WOW. That is large! I'd only heard about those in Texas, too--I guess they wandered on into your area!

They must be migrating!

I also hear we have small bears, but I've never seen one, or know anyone that has. Maybe I'm not far enough east. That's where the woods are.
