y'all

I am following someone on tumblr who was born in 1997.

amstell

Simon Amstell, as always, understands me.

So what you're telling me is this person is as old as the Harry Potter series.

WUT.

OMG I HADN'T THOUGHT OF IT THAT WAY WHAT IS THE WORLD????

Better not to think about things like that... Just pretend it didn't happen. Wait till you start getting followers born after 2000. I give it 2-3 years...

[identity profile] penny-lane-42.livejournal.com 2012-08-23 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I think my brain will dribble out of my ears if that happens. I mean, in my head it's always 2000, and 1995 was 5 years ago, I swear.

[identity profile] upupa-epops.livejournal.com 2012-08-23 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Same here! I mean, I can also accept 2005. 2005 was a good year. I don't have anything against 2000, I just don't want my mind to be stuck in a year in which I couldn't drink yet.

I love Grandma's House. *huggles it* (Don't have much else to say!)

You know, I've only watched the first two or three episodes. It's so realistically awkward that it's almost too much sometimes, you know? I think I need to watch episodes here and there, sort of spread the experience out. Because I just adore Simon Amstell and need more of him in my life.

*nods* There are a couple of moments that are too cringey for me, but on the whole I think it's one of the best sitcoms there have been recently - definitely the best family sitcom. Definitely worth watching all the way through - though the episode that your post icon is from is still my favourite. I need to get the Series 2 DVD...

I love pointing out to people "Remember that cute little baby on the cover to Nirvana's Nevermind? He can drink legally now."

[identity profile] penny-lane-42.livejournal.com 2012-08-23 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha! I'd forgotten about that one! Truly terrifying!

I feel old all the time now. Unfair, I say!

I am following someone on tumblr who was born in 1997.
They're 14. My daughter was born in 1998 (she is 13). And has a Tumblr. The world is a scary, scary place...

[identity profile] penny-lane-42.livejournal.com 2012-08-23 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Isn't that crazy? Time just keeps gonig so fast.

[identity profile] eilowyn.livejournal.com 2012-08-23 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
My sister is going with her boyfriend's family to take him to college. Like Beer_good_goamy said, they both were born after "Smells Like Teen Spirit" came out, and yet they're listening to the Nevermind album on an iPod for the drive up. This is bizarre to me.

[identity profile] penny-lane-42.livejournal.com 2012-08-23 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha! Classics are classics for a reason.

...they were born the same year BtVS came to tv.

Also, Buffy has been off the air longer than it was on.

Both of those things just blew my mind. WOW.

[identity profile] dollsome.livejournal.com 2012-08-23 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
One of my fellow TAs was born in 1990, and I'm just like, 'DEAR GOD, WHAT ARE YOU, YOUNG CREATURE. HOW ARE YOU OLD ENOUGH TO BE DOING THE SAME JOB AS ME?!??!!'

Basically: I feel this so hard. Don't trust anything (er ... anyone) born in the 90s! Don't do it! It's a trap!

[identity profile] penny-lane-42.livejournal.com 2012-08-23 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I keep forgetting that people were born after 1989. And then I remember and it makes my head spin.

[identity profile] dollsome.livejournal.com 2012-08-23 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
WORD. One of my buddies was nannying for a little girl who was born in ... 2007. Sometimes I would just stare at her and wonder, How are you possible?

[identity profile] blackfrancine.livejournal.com 2012-08-23 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Bwahahahaa! Yes. Just last night I ran into a friend from high school, who was out with family, celebrating his brother's birthday. The brother in question was... I don't know... maybe 10 or 12 when we were in high school. He turned 26 last night.

My reaction: Jesus H. Christ. We're old.

[identity profile] penny-lane-42.livejournal.com 2012-08-23 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I remember when kids whose births I remember started graduating from high school and I totally freaked out....

I still can't get past the fact that every person who was, at any point, at school at the same time as me has now graduated. The ickle kiddies who were in prep when I finished school? They're old enough to vote.

[identity profile] penny-lane-42.livejournal.com 2012-08-24 12:15 pm (UTC)(link)
It's crazy, the way life moves on.

[identity profile] sai12.livejournal.com 2012-08-23 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Seriously?! I cry everytime I hear about a new idol who is like 15 and I'm sitting here going "i need to LEAVE fandom RIGHT NOW!"

Wow so umm this is the first entry I get to see and comment on and such as your new friend? And I hope I haven't like annoyed the hell outta ya with my tumblr spams since I'm quite incapable of that queue thingie. ^___^

[identity profile] penny-lane-42.livejournal.com 2012-08-23 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
What gets me is all the girls who are calling those guys oppa! And I'm like, "How old can you possibly be if you're killing that little baby oppa?!?!?" It makes me feel ancient!

Welcome! And you can't possibly be worse than I am with the tumblr spams--I haven't figured out queue yet, either. You haven't annoyed me in the slightest!

[identity profile] sai12.livejournal.com 2012-08-23 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
omg yes! Like Zelo from BAP. And I see people calling him oppa and I'm like you gotta be doing it wrong right? RIGHT?! RIIIIGHT?!

Okay sorry, I just am tender about age as mine is so advanced for kpop fandom! The only oppas I have are in groups like Suju and DBSK or so on. Heh

[identity profile] penny-lane-42.livejournal.com 2012-08-24 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Ha! I understand! I'm even older than some of the Super Junior boys, too!

[identity profile] chickosaurusrex.livejournal.com 2012-08-23 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I had something like that happen to me when my boyfriend's youngest cousin came to visit! He's an adorable 10 year old boy, and I bonded with him over Pokemon--a game which came out in North America when I was about 10 years old myself. He started rattling out Pokemon names I had no idea about, and he didn't know most of the original 150, and I just felt sooo ooold. D:

[identity profile] penny-lane-42.livejournal.com 2012-08-24 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
Ha! I hadn't thought about how something like that would change! It kind of makes me nostalgic to know that there are still kids into Pokemon, though!
