OH GUESS WHAT I HAVE GREAT NEWS BY WHICH I MEAN THE WORST NEWS EVER.

LJ keeps making changes! Changes that make me want to kill someone, and somehow I missed this one until I went to make a new sticky post today and found that we can't.

Because now you can only have one sticky post at a time. ONE. You can't edit your journal entries out of chronological order; if you change the date/time, it makes them "scheduled" and they'll post at that given time, but they won't show up until then. ISN'T THAT JUST FANTASTIC.

So I had to edit my already-sticky posts and shuffle things around. Which, thank God I could do that, otherwise I would have ended up screaming and ripping my hair out. But why does lj insist on doing this to us? Do they not understand why we do things the way that we do? WHY WHY WHY? What possible reason could they have for insisting that we only have one sticky post?

In closing, I hate the world.

All my "sticky posts" (ie, things I have post-dated, not anything using LJ's proper sticky post function) are still where I left them. Does this problem only show up when we make new ones?

Yup, only with the new ones, which is how I managed to edit some old ones, consolidating several posts so I'd have one free. But I was stupid and only set them up to 2013, so I don't know what I'll be doing in a year. I'm just so annoyed right now.

Well, most of mine are private posts - links I want to get to, and stuff - and I access them all from the DW side. So I'll be okay. But yeah, that's pretty stupid. I mean, what other possible reason could we have for post-dating thing, before they introduced the scheduled-post feature?

I HAF MADE A DISCOVERY. Which is that post-dating posts still works perfectly fine if you cross-post from DW instead of posting directly from LJ.

THIS IS GOOD TO KNOW! A trick to tricky lj! I love it!

It's like they want us all to leave and go to DW instead!

Scrapbook is 90% of why I have a paid LJ and the new release is so horribly broken that... I guess I'm going to move all of these fucking photos to Flickr or something.

I have never seen any product whose makers seem so hell-bent on driving customers away. I really haven't.

It's such a mess. I'm so glad that I haven't used scrapbook for any specific purpose. I can only imagine how annoyed you are.

Before they changed it, I posted an entry and THEN, after I made a newer one, took the first one and pre-dated it. It was already "published".
Not having a second one made all the posts I made in the meanwhile not appear on my F-List.

*checks* I make my privat Dez. 2030 post now Dez. 2035. LJ let me do it (but not 2040).

Give it a try. Or making the old entry up in date to 2030 and a new sticky post if the other thing doesn't function.
I'm curious what will work.

AHA! I thought that this was just me being dumb and not knowing how to do things, because a month or so ago it occurred to me to have a sticky post and just future-dated it, only it straight disappeared! I chalked it up to me not having technological savvy! NOW I KNOW OTHERWISE!

le sigh

Not you being dumb at all! Lj being dumb instead! Which is worse!

I know that LJ did something recently to make it possible for communities to have a sticky post. Maybe in order for comms to have one sticky post, they had to break the multiple stickies for the rest of us?

[identity profile] penny-lane-42.livejournal.com 2012-06-25 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe so. I don't know why they'd be connected, but I just wish they weren't. *sigh*
