lirazel: An outdoor scene from the film Picnic at Hanging Rock ([misc] not a good insult at all)
lirazel ([personal profile] lirazel) wrote2012-04-27 08:59 am

as usual, some things

+ So apparently last night's TVD pissed everyone off? I haven't seen it yet, but I'm bracing myself for it. Do y'all sometimes wonder why we watch this ridiculous excuse for a show? I often do, and then [livejournal.com profile] ever_neutral writes perfect meta and I suddenly have feelings all over the place and I remember.

+ In case you missed it (read: in case you're not on tumblr), Joe Dempsie is perfect, and I want to glomp him:

+ For [livejournal.com profile] snickfic's amusement: this thing has informed me that Lauren is made of kitty cats, cherries, and awkwardness. With a dash of porn. WITH A DASH OF PORN. I still need to steal your "I'm bored and your porn is boring" icon.

+ Love Rain continues to be so perfect I could die. This week's episodes were so unrelentingly adorable that I almost couldn't stand it. I expect the angst is coming soon, but I have high hopes of getting a happy ending for Joon and Ha Na, so I'm happy. If you need something to watch, you should high-tail it over to dramafever.com and watch the heck out of this show. These kids have faces and sometimes they put them together.

+ I will probably try to FINALLY watch some of Young Justice this weekend. I have to write my [livejournal.com profile] rarewomen fic, but I'm hoping to get into this show because I am overwhelmed with love for y'all's feels. You know how sometimes you love a thing because your friends love it but you really know nothing about it? That is how I feel about this show. I love it though I haven't seen it.

+ I dreamed I was Fox Mulder's assistant last night (I have no clue where Scully was). Which I guess is my subconscious telling me to finish that damn show.

+ All of my GoT feels continue to be about the Stark girls. And Oona Chaplin being flawless. When is The Hour coming back? I need more of it in my life.

+ I can't decide whether I love or hate y'all who have been reblogging quotes from 50 Shades of Grey all over my dash. On the one hand: so incredibly, ridiculously bad that it's hilarious. On the other hand, I can never erase those things from my mind. [livejournal.com profile] dollsome has noted (and is indeed correct) that the series seems to exactly reproduce the feel of the Twilight books (not to mention Bella's characterization) only now with 100% more pr0n. It's kind of amazing. AMAZINGLY BAD AND DISGUSTING. I feel sorry for the women who are so into this series because they don't realize there's better porn on the internet for free.

+ 60,000 words on the novel! Only about 20,000 more to go!

+ I realize that some of you might not be nerdfighters (though you totally should), so if you missed this video you should watch it now. I really feel like it's one of the best that Hank has ever made, and it's dripping with truth.

+ It is Friday.

+ That's...it? Feel free, as always, to tell me about your lives, because I am always interested.

Don't count on her making it better this week, lol.

I haven't watched TVD yet and now I kinda don't want to...

Joe Dempsie, on the other hand, I can watch all day.

Yay 60,000 words on the novel!
snickfic: Buffy looking over her shoulder (Scoobies naptime)

[personal profile] snickfic 2012-04-27 03:15 pm (UTC)(link)
A dash of porn! I am not made of porn, however. I am made of "oatmeal, movies, and desperation. With a dash of naptime."

I resent that desperation bit, though. Desperation is tiring. I'm going to go have a nap.

That video clip might be the best thing ever. "Never ever buy alcohol at bars. I can't think of a way to spend money faster with less benefit."

"In high school, people were like, 'This is the best time of your life,' and I was like, oh ho, it better not be."

That is EXCELLENT. And he quotes xkcd. And he has Terry Pratchett on his bookshelf (I recognize the cover.)

My life: new house! Is lovely! Well, the toilets still don't work properly (none of the stoppers inside the tanks don't seal, so we have to turn off the water between uses), but the cats have made themselves comfortable and we have a back deck and I can walk to school every day!

Also I'm at almost 18k for my big bang fic! This is in no as impressive as your 60k (woot!) but I am still excited.

Also it is Friday. Yay that.

It's pretty bad. I've been a staunch defender of the show this far, but it's pretty bad on a lot of levels.

Haha! Have you watched the interview where he and Nic Hoult are talking about, ahem, 'wearing stockings' for their Skins sex scenes?

I feel sorry for the women who are so into this series because they don't realize there's better porn on the internet for free.
That's always how I always felt about Twilight and its so-called sexual tension.

I think you'll be pleased to know that I'm three episodes into Shut Up Flower Boy Band, and I am already in love with Ji Hyuk's smolder. Sigh. And Do Il has the best hair (of COURSE the drummer has to have the hair porn!). Kyung Jong is made of adorable. And ah, just let me love the whole groooooup.

(This Grace icon is so useful.)

this thing has informed me that Lauren is made of kitty cats, cherries, and awkwardness. With a dash of porn. WITH A DASH OF PORN.

I would rather have that description than mine! I got, "Alexandra is made of Trance, octopi, and soil. With a dash of foreveralone." Foreveralone?!? Gee, I feel special. I'm not going to be foreveralone. I'm going to have my books and writing and my siblings...

You know how sometimes you love a thing because your friends love it but you really know nothing about it?

I feel that way a little about VMars, which I have never seen, and to a degree, about Community, and P&R, both of which I have seen some of but am not in love with.

that the series seems to exactly reproduce the feel of the Twilight books (not to mention Bella's characterization) only now with 100% more pr0n. It's kind of amazing.

You know the books were Twilight fanfiction, right? They were a fanfic that the author converted to original fiction. Is it a very bizarre phenomenon. I was looking forward to borrowing them from my aunt until I read some of the excerpts on Amazon, and they're so bad. Also, apparently they're super offensive to the BDSM community, so the whole, "these are feminist books because they show a woman comfortable with her sexuality" argument is entirely exaggerated, too. I just got a link from my sister to Ellen DeGeneres reading aloud from them, so maybe that's worth something (haven't watched this yet, JSYK, in case there's anything weird in it: http://jezebel.com/5905538/ellen-degeneres-reads-aloud-50-shades-of-grey

There is so much better porn on the Internet for free. It's not a little ridiculous that the media is treating this as a sensation that oh hey, women like porn, too!

Maryam is made of Instrumental, tree bark, and lightning. With a dash of AMERICA.

Yes. Thank you. I'll expect my citizenship in the mail any day now.

That video on growing up just summarized everything I've spent the past 7 years slowly coming to terms with. Down to the bad karaoke.

What a wonderful video! I will probably watch it again later. Also, re: Mulder dream, I am pretty sure that my girlfriend and I are Mulder and Scully as represented by this episode. Seriously.

[identity profile] ellievanna.livejournal.com 2012-04-27 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Young Justice has taken over my braaain. :D It really is a wonderful show, a bit cheesy at time but it is after all about superheroes, and the good stuff more than makes up for it. And ALL OF THE LADIES ARE THE BEST. Especially in the back half of the season they've been given as much attention and the boys, and they're all developed and interesting!

I think that video is one of my favorites ever of Hank's, if not my favorite. ♥

Meg is made of pencils, fashion, and happiness. With a dash of the East.

Alrighty then!

You know how sometimes you love a thing because your friends love it but you really know nothing about it? That is how I feel about this show. I love it though I haven't seen it.

I get this feeling all the time, which is of course what usually precipates me starting to watch something/my own feelings spiral. Bless you fandom osmosis.

Wasn't 50 Shades of Grey actually written as Twilight fan fiction before it was "adapted" into what it is now? I think that adds an extra layer of hilarity onto an already terrible book.

I judge myself.

I did write a long post of rage, if that makes you feel better. LOL.
