this is for snick

Okay, so I asked Lil Sis again what she thought about Supernatural, and the conversation went something like this:

Me: So my online friends want to know what you think about Supernatural.
Her: [appalled] What? Why?
Me: Because they all watch it, too. And I told them I'd tell them what you think.
Her: [still confused] Okaaaaay. [She will never understand my online life.]
Me: So what do you think?
Her: It's okay. I don't really like that it's so scary.
Me: WHAT? You are the one who watches all the horror movies I refuse to watch! You love horror movies!
Her: Yeah, but movies are different. They're scary and then it's over. This, like, keeps being scary.
Me: Okay. So what else?
Her: I think one of the reasons I can't get into it is that there aren't any girls.
Me: [trying to hide how much I love her for this] I totally get that. The show really fails when it comes to ladies.
Her: Are there ever going to be any girls?
Me: Kinda? But most of them die? And the rest don't get that big of a role.
Her: But what about the girl Dean-from-Gilmore Girls is married to?
Me: [confused, and thinking she thought that Sam was married to Jess] He wasn't married to her and she died in the first episode?
Her: No! In real life!
Me: Oooooh! Yeah, she's on later for a while. I like her character. But that's in a couple of seasons.
Her: Okay, good. She was in Wildfire. I really loved that show. [then proceeds to talk about hot-guy-from-Wildfire because she is who she is]

So her thoughts are: too scary, not enough ladies. She surprises me sometimes. Often in good ways.

Aww, I feel loved! I love reading your sister's thoughts. They are good thoughts. (Although, I have a much higher tolerance for horror in SPN than in movies, because in movies it's For SRS, and in SPN it's just silly-gross-comedic at least 3/4 of the time.)

Yeah, I've never been bothered by SPN's horror, either, whereas I refuse to watch horror movies. I found it so ironic that SPN bothers her!

YOUR SIS = ME

No but really my insta-reactions to SPN are "too scary" and "not enough ladies" and also "where's that girl from Wildfire?"

On that note, I found the show got considerably less horror scary during Season 2, but especially Season 3 onwards. So that was a good for me. But sometimes I still have to look away or fast-forward through the cold opens because it really doesn't matter so much. They're all the same "monster scary" + "people die" and you'd think I could deal, but the music really disturbs me. For some people I imagine they get desensitized, but the horror music is like directly wired to my nervous system. So, eep.

For some reason, the kind of horror they employed didn't bug me, whereas I get totally freaked out by horror movies. I guess it's mostly because it's supernatural in nature? I get way more freaked out by, like, serial killers and other real life things.

For some people I imagine they get desensitized, but the horror music is like directly wired to my nervous system. So, eep.

Scary!

She was highly entertained by this comment.

I feel like SPN has that horror movie feel that's not so much scary as it is startling, you know? It uses the "something about to JUMP OUT FROM BEHIND YOU!!!" camera and music cues so often.

NOT ENOUGH LADIES. Or even "not enough time for the awesome ladies." Word. That is my big complaint too.

I was really surprised/impressed that it bothered her. It's always been my main complaint.
