Maybe I will re-up my paid account in March. I'd been thinking about letting it lapse, because I'm tired of supporting their stupid stupid decision making, but let's face it, LJ is still the service I end up using the most, and I don't think I can deal with the junk they've been putting you unpaid people through.

Aha. Gotcha. I always view everyone's journals with the "my style" option. (This is largely to avoid unfortunate colorschemes - there was someone years ago who had a yellow-and-purple scheme, with blinking things - and also NSFW banners.)
I think they were still in upload-date format even when you looked at it under your style? Were they not? Crazy. I pretty much only use my style when looking at Fag Ends because I can't handle the white-on-black. It drives me craaaazy.
