Battlestar Galactica

And it's time for stream-of-consciousness TV viewing part II:  "No Exit" version.

Weird!  A new opening!  I don’t know how I feel about this.

ELLEN BEING REBORN!  And she is not happy.

Okay, that opening was just all so weird.

And Anders is still alive!  *spins around*  And he’s talking like the hybrid, which is very, very cool.  And Kara’s actually caring about him.  Took you long enough, Kara Thrace.

Ellen designed all the models?  She’s behind all of this?  I don’t know how I feel about this.  And there’s no way I believe that that was originally planned at the beginning of the show.

Anders remembers everything?  AWESOME!

“Centurion side of the family”?  Interesting.

Boomer with Cavil still freaks me the hell out.

Chief and Tori?  Yeah, right.

“These old planets aren’t who we are anymore.”  I really like Lee’s thought processes about this.  He's very right, too.

I really, really like the twist of the ship falling apart around them.

Permanent like number seven?  Huh?  I feel like I missed something.

“Who would I want to love?”  And then the flash to the Chief.  Nice touch.

Saul, Tyrol, and Tori debating the ethics of all of this—very interesting.

The drawn-outness of the conversations between Ellen and Cavil is bothering me.

I’m loooving the way Sam can’t quite come up with the right words—the ones he first thinks of are so interesting.

How is Ellen going to feel about Saul and Number Six?  I really don’t like them together.  She and Gaius were so devious and sexy and wrong.  And now it's her and Saul and...nothing.  Bo-ring.

Daniel.  Hmmm….

It’s weird how much is being revealed in this episode and yet it still feels really slow to me.  I’m not a fan of the flashbacks through time.  That always seems like a cop-out to me.

Oh, wow.  How’s that for symbolism?  They’re going to use something Cylon that will fix the Galactica.  Blending of two worlds as the only way of survival, anyone?

So Boomer just smuggled Ellen off the ship?  Good for her.

NOOO!!!  I like Sam!  He can’t really be brain dead for good!

And was there ever any doubt that Adama would agree to do whatever for the good of the ship?

Also, all this means that Cavil knew who the final five were all along.  Um, lack of continuity much?

You know what really bothers me?  That there was this huge info dump, but they didn't take the time to ensure that we'd be able to keep it all straight.  Because I'm confused as to the timeline and what it all means.

Some thoughts on this elusive Daniel.  When they mentioned the number seven, I immediately thought that it was Kara.  But now it seems it was a guy.  So.  I either think it's Gaius--I mean, the whole thing with the Cylon god, and, more importantly, the fact that the only other person who's ever seen a Cylon in his head (Tigh, with seeing-Six-as-Ellen) turned out to be a Cylon--or Gaeta.  Now stay with me here on the Gaeta thing. Ellen mentioned "Daniel" being artistic.  And we've already been told by Gaeta that he used to draw everywhere.  Also--and I could be remembering this completely wrong, so someone more obsessed with him than I (*coughMaycough*) correct me if I am--didn't he design that tiger tattoo he was showing off waaay back when in the episode where D'Anna made the documentary?  Okay, that last theory may be wishful thinking on my part since I really, really don't want Felix to be dead.

Either that or Daniel is Kara's father, who passed on his abilities (painting, etc.) to her.  Of course, that still doesn't explain how she found herself on Earth.  But bounce your theories, y'all!  I want to hear them.

I don’t know.  This episode felt lacking to me (and considering that it has a 4.7 rating on imdb at the moment, apparently some people agree with me), like they’re trying too hard to introduce new elements, to wrap everything up.  Especially after the tension of the last couple of episodes (and I had some major problems with those, don’t get me wrong, but at least they were entertaining), this felt slow and too talky.  And yet, I really don’t know how they can tie up all the lose ends in the remaining episodes.  I’m beginning to get the feeling that it’s going to be a major letdown, and that’s the last thing I want.  I don’t care if this show has a sad ending or happy one, so long as it’s good and emotionally satisfying.  This show is capable of so much.  And I want it to give it to me.

Of course, maybe when I have more time to process this, I'll end up liking this episode better.  And I'm more than willing to be convinced that it was awesome.  Convince me, someone!
