If you've got a job that makes you happy, keeps you sheltered and fed and still allows enough time to indulge in the things you do like, that probably puts you ahead of a lot of people your age or a bit younger. So, given your stated goals, you're in pretty good shape. Maybe concentrating a bit more on original work for publication would help? Even if you can't share that with friends and family (yet! Wait till you're a success), you'll know that you're working toward one of your goals and that should help when you're feeling sucked into someone else's goals. I know you're a brilliant writer, so be grateful your life allows you the time to concentrate on it and go for it. All that other stuff? That's the part of life that just happens while you're busy being successful. :)
