Gah.
Gah.
I just…don’t even know what to say. I’m still trying to process this, but I want to get my feelings down now while they’re still fresh.
First of all, I have to remind myself that I haven’t seen any of the rest of season 3 so everything I say is tainted. That said, I feel like I can still have a true fan reaction, because I still love these characters.
And that reaction is: these were great episodes, but I need closure, dammit!
I know that this is how all the seasons have ended—with cliffhangers: who’s at the door? Why didn’t Keith meet her at the airport? But this was different.
If this was a regular season finale, it would have been great. And there’s a lot of poetry in the “full circle” Veronica’s made: Jake Kane, Clarence Wiedman, losing her reputation, Logan kicking peoples’ butt and being on Veronica’s bad side, Wallace sticking with her, Keith (probably) losing the sheriff’s badge, Lilly's face looking down from the wall (which, wasn't that incredible? My sister and I nearly lost it when we saw that). I appreciate that.
But this season didn’t end with one question. It ended with about a million things I still want to know: Will Keith win? Why is Jake Kane really back and what the heck is up with those members of “The Castle”? Will they come after
This isn’t like the end of Firefly. Yes, it was canceled abruptly, but even if we didn’t have the Big Damn Movie, "Objects in Space" was still a heck of a way to go—the perfect ending, if it had to end at all.
This? Not so much.
And that, my friends, is life.
I’ll probably have more thoughts on this later, but for now…

Dick, Dick, Dick. It's...if his sole purpose was to buzz around being stupidly amusing, then I wouldn't mind--I have a laugh along with everyone else, after all. But I don't have any sympathy for him. Not after trying to date rape Madison (and then taking advantage of Veronica when she got the drink instead), or being a jerk to any and everyone, or absolutely *terrorizing* his younger brother. Now, sure, if he was going to be all broken!Dick for the rest of his life, that wouldn't be right, and I'd want him to get through it...even if I suspect that on the other side he'll act like the same old Dick, no change (which is how he acted for the majority of s3 *anyway*). That said, I think this moment of conscience is doing him a little good--and it's nothing compared to what Cassidy or Veronica (to drastically shorten the list) have gone through because of him.
S3 had its moments, but no, it really wasn't the same. The first arc is really dark, and sometimes it worked *really* well, and the second arc is a bit more appropriate for the show. I guess I should warn you, though, that before the CW cancelled it, RT dropped the big mystery arcs in an ill-chosen form of appeasement? So that's a change, too :\

Yeah, I knew about the lack of season-long arcs, and it makes me sad...that was one of the best things about the show. How could anything be as emotionally satisfying as finding out who killed Lilly or blew up the bus or when Aaron got what was coming to him?

Like I said, I haven't seen that many of the episodes, and the ones I have are the ones he handled it pretty well in, so my view is definitely skewed. I guess that way I'm free to give him the benefit of the doubt, even if he doesn't deserve it (I tend to do that).
