Well. Those particular changes are... quite irritating. I'm personally the most annoyed about the possible lack of an icon drop down menu, but the lack of subject lines will clearly affect a lot of fic memes and the like (though hopefully fandom will find some way to adapt). Is it bad that I was like, "Well at least it isn't a violation of privacy!" But seriously I think LJ and Tumblr are fighting each other to see who can degrade their site usability the most.
That icon thing urgh. I have them all grouped by fandom to make it easier to find similar ones (i.e starting with Buffy or with Spike or whatever), and checking out the browse button just now led me to discover that it doesn't even bring them up in alphabetical order Instead I have 200+ icons showing up in a completely random and jumped up way, how is that in any way an improvement from being able to select from the current orderly list?!
I know! Nothing about it makes sense! I've got mine all grouped by fandom, too, and I know just where everything is. Now it's going to be infinitely harder to use all my pretty icons I pay so much money for!
You think they'd realize that easy icon access is important, since they know how much we spend on icon packages.
Also, I guess they assume that everyone in the world of course has a super fast connection now, and can wait for 250 icons to load every time they make a comment. Though not even having them display according to keywords--wtf?
I think there's a vast conspiracy including lj and Karp. They want to kill fandom. But they don't want to hire a hitman. So they'll just do more and more things that make us angry until we just explode with rage. And then they won't have to deal with us anymore. It's the only thing that makes sense.
I sent feedback and got a reply surprisingly quickly, which is nice. Not that it will mater I'm sure. I just... I can't do DW unless everyone else is. And hardly anyone is. Because cross-posting was a pain in the butt and only worked properly half the time. Never mind editing crossposted entries - pretty much impossible. It feels like a rock and a hard place. I really love LJ when it's not actively trying to incite rage. I'd say I'd give up my icons in protest, but they're my favorite thing ever in ever.
