I was tearing up for Ethel in this episode. I'm not sure I'd be angry if the story did go in the route where characters punished her -- because I feel like that's what would have happened. I'd be really angry and disappointed if everyone punished her and there was no dissenting POV, just that the show presented it like 'duh, the maid got pregnant and it's all her fault.' Because hello, she had sex, how DARE she? And how dare she interact socially with one of her betters? That would cause rage.
