I like that people don't see things the exact same way that I do. But I dislike it (a lot) when I'm told that because I don't see things a certain way, I'm wrong... it's like being slapped across the face at a birthday party: here I am enjoying this incredible outflow of thought and creativity that people are generous and brave enough to share, and SMACK. It stings all the more because the guard is down, I think.

I think this is why Damon-Gate (when Lauren came on her white horse and defended the Damon lovers to the haters) bothered me so much. The people who were hating on Damon were basically saying that if you like him as a character, you approve of his behavior. I don't approve of his behavior, but that doesn't mean I'm not fascinated by him, or that [livejournal.com profile] eowyn_315 and [livejournal.com profile] ever_neutral are wrong to absolutely adore him. So it was a slap in the face for me to see these people posting that the entire Damon fandom is made up of silly girls who don't know their feminism and approve of the character's actions. Woobify the guy all you want; you have the right to do so, and no one should tell you differently. /rant
