I guess this means Veronica won't be getting her pony...

Well, that’s it, I guess.

No more hope, and all that.  Done and done.

Yet another show to add to my list of favorites that have either been canceled or slaughtered by the writers.  I guess I can’t really blame the CW, what with the ratings and all.  But still, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt.  That doesn’t mean I’m not disappointed—and just a little heartbroken.

But to tell you the truth, I’m thankful they didn’t renew it in the “Veronica Mars: FBI” format.  How many of the characters would they have been willing to keep around?  Not many; that format wouldn’t lend itself to keeping around our favorites.

And Veronica Mars has always been about characters, and characters are all about relationships.  Would it have really been Veronica as we know and love her if she didn’t have Keith to come home to?  Wallace to always have her back?  Logan to snark with?  Would we have anything to love about this show with no Mac, no Weevil, no Dick, no Lamb?  Would we love it without Neptune, which is practically a character in itself?

Honestly, I’d rather see it end now than see “Veronica” in a completely new place with no familiar faces other than occasional “guest appearances” by characters that up until now had been the heart of the show.

And I still have Season 3 to look forward to on DVD.  Though I haven’t seen it yet, and I’m bracing myself to be a bit disappointed, I do know that I’ll always have two completely emotionally satisfying seasons to watch over and over again. Though I'm new to this fandom, it doesn't keep me from realizing just how great of a show this was, and it doesn't stop me from mourning its loss.

Thanks, Rob.  It’s been a pleasure.

*Technically* the CW has until June 15th until they announce for absolutely positively definitely true whether or not their cancelling VM. They really like dragging this all out for as long as possible with their poor fans. But...no, they aren't likely to change their minds. That said, I actually would have found the FBI setting interesting--and I know RT had claimed that he "couldn't imagine" the show without Keith or Logan, so *they* would have shown up, at least. And I could see Mac showing up, somehow, with her technical prowess. Wallace...well, Wallace has kind of disappeared lately on us in s3, though, so it couldn't be so different there :(

Still. To a great show cancelled before its time. It isn't the first, it won't be the last, but I expect it to be missed more than the CW realizes :(

I really don't foresee it being used as a midseason replacement, and I don't want to get my hopes up, so I'm pretty much resigning myself to it now so I don't have to get crushed all over again later. As long as we get some real closure--something emotionally satisfying--in the final episode, I guess I won't complain all that much....It could be a lot worse.

It's just a shame that people never embraced it as much as it deserved it. But that's how most things are, I guess.

Oh, and I love your icon!

*sigh* Yes, it probably *won't* be renewed, but the CW refuses to just own up to the cancellation and give us a straight answer. Which is too bad, because RT took it as his right to call their bluff, and ended the show with an *amazing* season finale...and a rather disheartening series finale :\ That said, I wasn't as disappointed as some people have claimed--and it *was* seriously amazing, especially for a season that had its problems. And closure is there, if you need to look for it...but still :\

Hehe, thanks :D I just changed it (though really, isn't everything to do with Mac awesome? *<3's her*), but the icon in question was made by [livejournal.com profile] madseason_20 :)

I don't really blame the CW for avoiding the issue--people are *angry*--seriously, have you seen the imdb boards? Insanity. I mean, I'm pretty upset, but if I were a CW exec, I'd go into witness protection or something.

You're exactly right--it was amazing as a season finale, though I can't approve of it as a series one. But I like the idea that we've kind of come full circle--Jake Kane, Clarence Weidman, having her reputation ruined, the implication that Keith won't be sheriff anymore, and especially Lilly's picture...there's closure of a sort, but not enough for me.

Yeah, Mac's great. I'm so glad they finally made her a major character--I can't wait to watch season 3 and see her. Speaking of which, I laughed my butt off at the interaction between her and Dick--priceless! Seriously, that boy cracks me up--this is what he does, the way he deals with everything: get drunk and try to get laid. And he would so totally try to kiss Mac cuz he has no idea how to deal with his feelings about Cassidy....

Anyways, I got a little carried away with that whole beach scene. Which was another entry in the "full circle" thing--I was having deja vu the whole time.

I'm still kind of buzzed from last night, in case you can't tell--there was so much going on and I was just so happy to be watching it!

Lol, I was just *so* out of it in the finale that I didn't even realize it was actually Jake Kane until about two minutes into their first conversation :P But the full circle was good.

Mac is amazing, though she isn't in the season as much as I'd have liked :( As for the Mac/Dick scene -- *sporfle* I loved that scene. There's a huge number of scary people who *ship* Mac and Dick, so that scene was echoed in my head by the shippers scrambling around trying to meta it :p

It took me a few seconds to realize it was Jake, too--and then my jaw dropped.

I love Mac, too, but like Wallace, there just doesn't seem to be enough of her. I thought that scene was hilarious, too, especially the look on her face--classic!

I know! I read this on the CNN website while I was at work and had to stifle my "Nooooooo!" There aren't enough good shows out there, and this was a REALLY good show. I still have Season 3 to look forward to too, but it will be saddened Season 3.

Yeah, I think that's how most of us felt. At this point, I'm just hoping we get some closure with Tuesday's episode. I'll feel cheated if it ends abruptly.

And by the way, have I mentioned that I adore your icon? It's hilarious, and I can so relate!
