some preliminary FANDOM MARCH MADNESS thoughts

* Even if you don't watch Vampire Diaries you need to vote for Caroline Forbes. Not only because she is awesome, but because she is the only character on the show that I can imagine beating Damon. And we need to make sure that Damon doesn't make it past prelims. Remember back in S1 when I liked him and thought they'd make him a really fascinating character? UH NO. S2 has been full of Damon!fail, and the writers have no idea what they're doing with him, unfortunately, and he does not deserve to represent TVD because the single best thing about the show is the awesome ladies. AN AWESOME LADY MUST REPRESENT, and since Bonnie doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning, and I don't know very many people who are ~passionate~ about Elena, we must all vote Caroline. Also did I mention that she is awesome?

* Vote Troy Barnes for Community? PRETTY PRETTY PLEASE? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE? FAVORITE BOY ALWAYS? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

* LESLIE KNOPE. I WANT HER TO MAKE IT TO FINAL FOUR. I'm tentatively cheering for Dana Scully to take the whole thing because 1) Elyssa is a very convincing woman, 2) Scully started it all, and 3) I am currently watching The X-Files again. But I want either Leslie or Troy (or possibly Caroline) to come in second if at all possible, because they are the most flawless characters currently on TV.

* Will Skins be included? And if so, will the new generation be up for voting? If so, GRACE VIOLET FOREVER, Y'ALL. PERFECT PERFECT GIRL. Otherwise, a Gen 1 kid should represent. NO EFFY PLEASE.

* I kind of want Rory to win for Doctor Who, but I doubt that that will happen. Honestly, though, I'm so in love with the current direction of the show that I'll be thrilled if any of the main cast from S5 comes out on top. I also kind of think it would be awesome if River was the rep, but she probably won't be. If the olds are still votable, I'll probably vote Donna. NOT TEN, OKAY? I STILL HAVEN'T FORGIVEN HIM. I NEVER WILL.

* I guess I need to break out my NOT DEAN icon again, don't I? Or does he have a chance of winning this year? Hopefully not.

* And, as always, Buffy must represent her own show because BUFFY. ANNE. SUMMERS. ALWAYS.

* I think I'm going to sign up for a brand-new photobucket account so that I don't go over bandwidth this time. GIFS GIFS GIFS GIFS GIFS!

Is Veronica Mars going to be there? Because that's who I was rooting for last year (not that I ever expected her to get very far but STILL). Other than that I'll just see who comes up I guess.

And I don't watch The Vampire Diaries but I've assimilated enough to feel comfortable voting for Caroline if you say I should :P.

My other main ideas are basically NO DEAN OR SHELDON. Or ~misunderstood (vampire) douchebags.

Oh, and River winning for Doctor Who would be cool. Wow I have more opinions on this than I thought ;).

Re: Vampire Diaries. I kind of want to vote for Bonnie? Basically Bonnie, Caroline, and Elena are kind of tied, but if it comes down to Damon versus ANYONE ELSE, I'll vote for the anyone else. I don't think there'll be many of my fandoms up there, because every day is rare fandom day for me \o/

(Also, if Being Human is up there, I'm carrying the banner for Nina. NO MITCHELL. NO ME GUSTA.)

Ugh, I want Nina to represent Being Human so badly but she actually has haters. Of course. Anyone who calls out the dreamy vampire's bullshit is going to get crucified. =[

Bonnie Bennet is my TVD girl always and forever, but yeah, I'm voting Caroline Forbes for strategic reasons. Or Katherine. Who ever has the best chance of beating Damon.

I saved a shit ton of Dana Scully icons for this. I'm so ready. Where are you on your re-watch? This is my first time watching it completely through. I caught a handful of episodes from seasons 4-9 back when it was airing but I figured, hey why not. I love how conveniently there are a shit ton of people watching it now so I'm hoping it will sway some votes. =3

My Top Three TVD characters are Bonnie, Stefan, and Caroline (the order switches around). So yeah, I'm already planning on voting for Caroline since she seems like she has the best chance. ...Unless Stefan surprises me. He has been getting more popular, but I don't think he's reached Caroline levels. (And it's harder to convince people of his awesome - it's more of a slow "oh hey he's actually an ok vampire boyfriend" and then the combination of trying to be a good person but compromising for the people you care about. ...some of this is similar to Bonnie, but she doesn't care about DAMON.) Anyways, voting for Caroline.

I don't watch Doctor Who, but I know enough not to vote for Ten.

And, as always, Buffy must represent her own show because BUFFY. ANNE. SUMMERS. ALWAYS.

...I will vote for her if it's between her and Spike. I wish they didn't combine the Buffyverse shows last year.

Dude, I've suddenly realized I'm super committed to Team Knope this year. It would be awesome if fandom could make that happen. But I'm definitely voting Troy and Caroline and even though it hurts my heart to vote against Donna, RIVER SONG. Sorry, her name is forever in caps in my head.

That being said, if it came down to Scully and Leslie, I'd just abstain from voting on grounds of awesomeness. :D

This is a fun time post - and is Parks and Rec really that good? My sister's boyfriend and I have been debating its merits to 30 Rock and Community, and the other two shows seem to win out for both of us. Is it a show I can just pick up and get, or do I have to start at the beginning to appreciate it?

Totally going for Caroline and Troy this year, and I was thinking Dana Scully before Elyssa got the bandwagon started because I re-watched Fight the Future a few weeks ago and fell back in love with my first ship. Mulder and Scully started the whole thing for me.

I'm thinking River Song for DW if it's a season 5 thing, but I'll need to get more River-centric gifs if I go with her. I think elisi alone has sufficient enthusiasm for River to catch on, though!
