I thought I would always love Ten best…but I still haven’t forgiven him for what he did to Donna, and it’s ruined a lot of my love for him? It’s entirely possible that a huge part of my love for Eleven is stanning the hell out of Matt Smith and his ridiculously physical performance. I also love how he’s totally baffled by things—kissing! Soccer!—and yet a total genius. I also love how he seems to be genuinely delighted by just about everyone. Also, the contrast between his personality—very much an old man—and his body—that of a young man. Plus: fezzes! Bowties! River Song! Love all arooooound!

I was waiting for you to show up!

No, but seriously, every time I watch him, I'm more blown away. MATT SMITH, HOW ARE YOU POSSIBLE?

Mmm, I know what you mean about Donna. I retcon that bit out of my cognition more often than not, which may be a disservice to her or whatever, but I don't think I've ever seen anything as painful on television as that season finale. (And that includes all of Whedon's work, so, hah, Joss.) But I love Ten even with that (in a dark, painful kind of way), but I will always love Nine most.

HOWEVER, I completely understand about Matt Smith's physicality. Also the contrast, which fits in with your other characters - well, Spike, anyway, and kinda Buffy.

Also what occured to me is you like characters who're post-redemption-storyline. Like, Edmund, and also all BtVS S7. Which is what Eleven is, I think, he's the reprieve after Ten's mad and glorious descent into Time Lord Victoriousness.

Eleven's basically Time Lord Recovering, and I see why you'd love that.

I wish that Donna's plotline hadn't affected me so profoundly...but it has. Oh, it has.

I love you forever. Yes, this is incredibly insightful and not something I'd come up with on my own, but it rings true. I love seeing people live through the aftermath of their worst decisions by becoming a better person. Evil in Recovery, basically, as you say.
