Let's do this, okay?

1. When I started shipping them
2. What I think their challenge is
3. What makes me happy about them
4. What makes me sad about them
5. What moment I wish had never happened
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other
7. My happily ever after for them

Because I can
HOW SHOCKING
2. STUPID SORKIN DIDN'T KEEP HER ON THE SHOW. But more realistically, their completely different political philosophies. I think they could make it work, obviously, but it would take some work.
3. Every. Single. Thing. The way they banter. How pretty they look together. The fact that they can challenge each other. The fact that they're ridiciulously smart. The fact that I could listen to them debate the ERA forever and ever amen. The way they seem supremely comfortable with each other. EVERYTHING.
4. THAT THEY NEVER HAPPENED OH MY HEART.
5. Ainsley dropping off the show.
6. Uh...No.
7. Okay. So they both become Congresspeople or whatever and meet again and fall in love and get married and then Sam runs for president and wins and she's a badass First Lady and then when his two terms are over, she pulls a Hilary and runs for president too and she WINS and Sam is, like, the first First Man and also they have aesthetically pleasing children and Ainsley bakes lots of sweets and Sam despairs of their children's teeth and everything is happy and wonderful and perfect. Okay?
And then Charlie Young runs for president and wins. And they work in his White House. And it's like a Bartlett Administration dynasty.

You know...I'm finding that the further I get from the books the less I ship them? I don't not ship them, but I feel like the last book let me down with them? Does that make sense?
1. I was weirded out at first because he didn't really know her but he was all in love with her? But I got really invested in it at the very, very end of the first book where she was all torn and confused about whether her feelings were real. And then in the second book where she was missing him?
2. They are both profoundly screwed up by what they've been through. PROFOUNDLY.
3. Surviving side by side! KICK. ASS.
4. I needed more of them in the last book. I really, really don't feel like they held up enough of Katniss's side of their romance and on top of that, Peeta was so changed and I didn't feel like I got to see him falling in love with her again. Basically, there were some things I loved about the last book, but the handling of the romance was not one of them.
5. Um, him getting kidnapped and brainwashed and otherwise destroyed?
6. I would have been okay with Katniss/Finnick before the whole Annie + dead thing happened. And I didn't mind Katniss/Gale but then Collins did put that to rest really, really well (also, I ship Gale/Johanna now, though there's no canon support for that other than her calling him gorgeous that one time). I think Katniss on her own would have been good. Katniss/her own agency.
7. Them getting to konw each other. Really, really getting to know each other. And rebuilding District 12.

Then book three happened and THEY RUINED PEETA and it was the most painful thing in the book (worse than Prim's death, I think), and he healed himself slowly, but - I didn't quite buy it? The healing of his love for Katniss but also of his morals. Like, there was that one scene which I hate forever and will never quite forgive these books, where the remaining victors voted about making another Hunger Games for Capitol children - and Peeta voted against it, thank god, but I couldn't quite see why. I mean, it was a glimpse of the old Peeta I loved but I wasn't sure it was what the new Peeta really would decide.
Tl;dr: I agree with your fourth point, and also all your points and am kinda sad their ship fell apart like this. But oh well, we'll always have Annie/Finnick.

1. I don't even remember? Probably in "Crush"? When she said, "Angel was good," and he said, "And I can be, too."
2. Spike's insecure and Buffy's emotionally broken. Plus that whole Twilight thing, if you think that's canon.
3. EVERYTHING EVER EVER EVER. Their journey. Going from enemies to weird allies to friends to screwed-up sex partners to friends to being OVER THE TOP IN LOVE WITH EACH OTHER S7 IS A LOVE STORY, OKAY? Them bantering. And fighting side by side. And loving Dawn. And saving the world. And looking gorgeous. And the way they rest their foreheads against each other. And the way they look at each other. And how they say so much with little touches. And how they know each other well enough that they almost destroyed each other at one point. And them believing in each other. And how private their relationship is. And how much he loves her hair. And how she finds him sexy even when he's being annoyed. DID I MENTION EVERYTHING?
4. That they didn't get to continue what they started in S7. *SOB*
5. I don't precisely wish the AR had never happened because it meant he got the soul and that was necessary and enabled S7 to happen. So...HIM STAYING IN STUPID LA AND BEING OUT OF CHARACTER INSTEAD OF GOING TO FIND HER.
6. Uh, no one. Crossover pairings only are okay with me. Buffy can end up with Anthony Ceccoli or Tommy Donnelly or something. And Spike can end up with Bonnie Bennett or Veronica Mars or someone.
7. Living together in Rome or London or somewhere in a small but cozy apartment with lots of weapons and shoes and a deep fryer and room for Dawn to come visit and going out at night and fighting side by side and training baby Slayers and taking nice long vacations and having awesome sex and loving each other forever. Oh, wait. I already wrote that. :D

She thinks he's hot in a sallow way.
He knows and accepts that her slayer nature means she'll always be somewhat alone. Her knowing this about him makes her feel less alone, though.
The amazing way they fit together when teaching the potentials. I always knew they'd make a formidable team, and those scenes totally proved it.
The way he defended her and shamed her friends for abandoning her. I love how much everything was about Buffy. She was the only thing that mattered to him.
The way she went straight to Spike's side when Xander was the one bleeding. They zero in on each other to the exclusion of everyone else.

2. Logan is overprotective and Veronica resents anyone wanting to protect her. She's going to throw herself into danger, and that's going to tear Logan up. And yet if he tries to step in, she'll resent him for that. Maybe when they grow up some?
3. The banter, at first. How on the surface they're the "enemies in love" trope but it's more complicated because they were friends once and their relationships with Lilly and Duncan are so fraught. The fact that they just get each other. They really do. And how he is just so hopelessly, hopelessly in love with her and can't hide it and she loves him back but has a harder time showing it.
4. That they didn't end the series together. *sob* Whatever. They're totally endgame.
5. Probably some stuff in S3 that I didn't actually ever see because I couldn't bring myself to watch all of it.
6. I can't think of anyone! How about Veronica and Wallace living together completely platonically? Because they're my BFF OTP forever for sure. Also, Logan/me. :D
7. They grow up a bit and realize how much they mean to each other and realize they're going to have to work and compromise to make it work. And Veronica joins the FBI and ends up being trained by Dana Scully and one night while investigating somethign ~supernatural~ she runs into another tiny blonde woman who kicks ass and Buffy and Veronica team up to SAVE THE WORLD with long-suffering Logan and Spike along for the ride. And also Dawn and Wallace are invited, as well as Mac and Andrew. And much awesomeness ensues and maybe they run into the Winchester boys and teach them about strong women or something, and then one day they end up in Mystic Falls and it turns out that Spike knows Damon from waaaaay back, but they've never much liked each other because they're too alike and to make Spike mad, Damon flirts with Buffy, but she's very unimpressed and and poor Matt who's gotten his heart broken by Caroline falls for Dawn and they team up with everybody in Mystic Falls to KICK MORE ASS and it's a giant party of awesome people all in one place.
Uh-huh.
OMG YOUR ICON IS SO INCREDIBLY GORGEOUS I MIGHT STEAL IT SO PRETTY.

2. SHE IS KIND OF DEAD. And he's Twilight. Apparently. Or something.
3. How healthy they are for each other. How happy they make each other. How pretty they are together.
4. That they never really had their moment. OH MY HEART.
5. ALL OF S4 OKAY? Or--pretty much everything from the moment she ~ascended to heaven~ what was that.
6. She and Doyle were cute back in the day. And I enjoy his screwed up relationship with Darla. But for a healthy relationship, they're each others' endgames.
7. Either a massive AU where S4 never happened or she turns out not to be dead and appears again and they get to be together forever, maybe even with his Shanshu.

1. I really have no idea. I think actually my friend had told me about them before I actually read the books, so I think I went in shipping? That was a long time ago. Like, middle school. So.
2. They're both terrified of ruining the friendship. Also, there's a war going on and one or more of them could end up very DEAD. Oh, wait! That's over! They get married and have babies! Well, alright then!
3. THAT SHE SEES HIM THINGS WE HAVE TALKED ABOUT. That they have a best friends core to every interaction. That they have the same priorities. That they've been crazy about each other since they were wee ones. THAT THEY ARE FREAKING ADORABLE.
4. THAT IT TOOK SO LONG and we never really got to see them together. Except that we sort of did, because I imagine them together isn't much different than them as friends only now they snog.
5. Well, that whole Lavender nonsense was pretty silly. But I'm not too bothered by anything.
6. NO ONE EVER. Unless they let Harry join them. That would be okay. :D
7. I wrote this fic once called "Always Coming Home" that pretty much sums up what I want for them. Obviously JKR doesn't feel the same.
